View Full Version : WA Conflicting with TS2

I've noticed recently WA has some problems when Teamspeak 2 is running in the background. Teamspeak is a voice software used by gamers to communicate to each other just by talking. It uses the Wave driver but Direct Sound can be selected. When Worms Armageddon is running with TS in the background the sound on Teamspeak seems to lag and if lots of people are talking their voices will have small gaps in the sound. The problem is pretty bad and seeing as no other games conflict with Teamspeak I think it must be a problem with Worms Armageddon. I'm not sure if it is something to do with reading the CD or just because WA doesn't like other programs using lots of sound in the background. I'm not sure if it is just my computer or is a general problem, if someone else can confirm it would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a scheduling problem. I'm pretty sure WA uses all the cycles it can get in-game.

Yes, but it doesn't use the resources other programs need, I believe. Just all that's unused.

I'd recommend playing around with TeamSpeak's different compression methods and see if it's just too much traffic making the sound skip. I remember a channel with about 10 people in it working flawlessly while in a game on WormNet.

The TS2 server I use most uses the Speex 25.9 Kbit codec for every channel. I could set the bandwidth right down but I don't think it is a network issue. Seeing as I can send sound fine and it is just recieving maybe the codec is conflicting with WA. Should I try fiddling with process priority or is there no point?

I tried all of that with still no luck. It has reduced the problem a little but there is still noticable lag. I really don't know why it is doing this.

Sorry for late reply again, I'm on 1MB connection. The point is that I get weird sound stuttering even when I'm not online!

OK I fixed it now, I put Teamspeak on a higher process priority and that seemed to work. I wasn't doing it correctly before, I just put the process priority for TS above normal in the Task Manager and it seems to work fine.
