I remember having a patch for US wormnet, does anyone have it?
( im on windows xp and i have all latest patches and the game runs fine)

and also me and me brother play on our home LAN everything is okay except that there is a small time gap(about 2-4 seconds) and i think this is strange since we are on a lan? (hes also on xp and has latest patches)

any help would be greatly appreciated :D

The time gap is there for a purpose. I can't remember what, but it's definitely supposed to be there (and i agree, it is a bit weird)

As for an American WormNet server, there never was one. The US link only redirected to the UK one.

There was a US Worms 2 server. Are you sure they didn't set up a WA server on that same machine back in 1999? Maybe it was online for a short period of time but got taken down due to community-splitting or lack of popularity? (These are actual questions; not rhetorical ones. I honestly thought there was a US WA server at one point, and am just looking for confirmed details.)

I think there was a US based server hosted by Microprose.
When Microprose was bought up by Hasbro, the server was soon just a redirect to the UK server at T17 HQ.

Ah yes, that. Don't think it was too popular at the time anyway, not even with Americans. I believe Infogrames buying Hasbro was the reason it was taken down. But don't quote me on zass.

yeah now that you say micropose i remember so i guess it doesnt really matter.

and about the network gap thingy does anyone know a fix?such as editing the registry or something because honestly its annoying and also every time it happens two small computers with worms inside them and a red link between them( this usually happens in wormnet due to lag I believe in the top right hand corner of the screen ) and im still bugged by it :(

That problem is actually very interesting. I've played games through WormNet while using TeamSpeak and the lag wasn't anywhere near 4 seconds. More like a second when playing against an American [Conner <4].

But I haven't played the game via LAN much and I can't try it now. Someone research, this is the second case this week!

Constructive part of the post:

Did you try switching cables? Perhaps the one you have is damaged or just plain old. That lag icon appears very rarely when I play on WormNet, never before each turn.

The game is from 1999 and even with today's computers and internet connections you regularly get lag.
I played games with 6 people on Teamspeak and the game is always lagging behind.

well jsut some technichal details

both pc's network interface cards are set at autonegotiation ( they also have latest drivers)

there are no ports forwarded in the router since we are on a LAN and i dont host when i play in wormnet

the lag icon doesnt appear in wormnet as often as it does in a LAN game (much more often like every 30 seconds)

all firewalls of both pcs are COMPLETELY disabled

router is well configured with MTU settings and all the other junk were its supposed to be ( i hope)

i believe the problem might recide in one of the pc's operating system options or settings(windows xp)

Conclusion: ( maybe this is a unique case because of hardware of software problems)

IM PUZZLED!!!!
