My scanner will be arriving in a few days. Now I am not bragging, but prepare to be amazed.

Things I need to improve on:

- My shading
- Getting my lines to be smoother.
- Style

Please add something if you must.

Update: For me summer has been really boring so far. I've done nothing but draw pictures. but I still can't post the because my scanner has not arrived yet. Can you imagine my sorrow? not being able to post works of art. Wahhhhhhh?

The outlines are really messy though, try putting a bit more effort into it. If you're using Flash, try the smooth option.

I didn't notice this before, but the maple leaf on the flag is weird.
I mean, it's supposed to look like this.
http://www.kynoch-douglas-parts.com/pics/articles/main/canadian-flag.jpg
It's really wonky.
Also, the maple leaf should be somewhat bent, like the white part on the bandana.
And last, the white part w/ maple leaf would probably look better if it was over the middle of both eyes, rather than just over the left one.

Sorry I tried my best on the maple leaf. It's just the way I draw maple leafs.

Maple leafs have been known to have been drawn like mine, especially in cartoons.

Akuryou13

the art was far below the standard you've set with your other images, and the story was just completely pointless and uninteresting. the second one may make the plot better, but that was by far the worst opening comic I've seen (well, the worst among the ones that were at least coherent :p )

Well... i guess that wasn't much of a criticism on my part, so i think i should apologize...

May i clarify why i think it's worse and how could you improve it... :)

Well, first of all, i think it's pretty clear that the outlines seem a bit shivering as if your hand was shaking when you drew it. I would try to find a way to make'em look smoother and cleaner.

Second, there seem to be some kind of blurry or smudge effect on some parts of the drawing (near the wound of the worm, for example). Seems like you kinda picked the wrong tool for a little while before you realise what you were doing... :p

Apart from that i think it's essencially decent. I'd also try to draw'em a tad bigger... like all of them the same size or bigger than the wounded worm. ;)

I understand that my drawings weren't as good as before. I am just very busy these days with schoolwork so I don't get a lot of time to draw.

330 Mhz RAM? that's not that bad. perhaps you're lacking in other areas, or perhaps it's that you have the same as what's required for the program or something.

SupSuper
20 Jun 2006, 16:20
Well, it does when you know much about Hardware...Well it didn't the way you wrote it.

In any case, Flash is a vector-based program, and as such, having a huge drawing will rely much more on CPU power than on RAM since vector-based drawings are drawn by calculations (so the more detailed a drawing is, the more vectors it has, the more calculations it has to perform, the more CPU power it needs), as opposed to regular drawings (like imported bitmaps) which are just a whole bunch of pixels and thus will rely much more on RAM.

That's not half bad... you got talent... the only thing is that my bear isn't quite pale like that... that's almost a grey or something... i got more of a brownish beard... :)

It's quite nice nonetheless... Thanks for drawin' me, mate... :)

Error only has pupils, remember?
Actually i quit drawing Beardy (yes, he's name is Beardy, not Error :p) with pupil-only eyes. Even on the first concept of my sig i was pretty clear that the eye was a ***** to draw like that and other people could draw it in their own style... eventually it turned out a ***** for me to draw as well, so i changed it too... :D

Sometimes it's kinda unconscious... since we see a lot of pics from Slick and we think they all rock, we record that in our minds. So when later we try to draw something, it ends looking like his stuff. And sometimes people just try to rip off other people's style.

You should do the same thing i've done when i first got here... browse through most of people's galleries and i create your own style; one that is different from other people's. Yes, my style looks a bit like Cisken's style (and, lol, i only realized it after i came up with it) although it's different. So, yea, at this point, your style will likely end up looking, at least a bit, like somebody else's, but it gotta be different enough for people to recognize your work... ;)

and don't expect just because you get well known that you'll get into comics everywhere. in order to get into a comic like mine, you have to have something happen that people can joke about. whether it's a mistake you make or an unintentional twist on something you say or even someone else making a joke that involves you and others taking it further. you never know when or why you get into comics around here :p

basically, either draw the arms as if the worm actually does have arms, or don't draw the arms at all when it comes to clothes.
