View Full Version : Problem with multiplayer mission...CPU doesn't shoot

I created a multiplayer mission...co-op mode, 2 human teams vs. 2 CPU-teams.

I gave the CPU-team weapons (standard weapons)...the range a CPU-worm can view is set to maximum...but still they don't shoot.

They only think, run around and then pause..."coward" is said.

What could be the problem? I simply can't get them to fight.

If your worms are piled closely enough with them, they won't shoot. Also, in my experience, they don't use weapons other than bazooka, grenade, cluster bomb, shotgun, uzi, minigun, handgun, fire punch, dragon ball, and a few more which I can't be bothered to remember. They will attack you if they have any of the weapons I listed, and you're a safe distance away from them.

and a few more which I can't be bothered to remember
All the weapons the AI uses, have a red frame in the list:
airstrike, banana bomb, bazooka, cluster, donkey, dynamite, firepunch, grenade, handgun, MB bomb, mine, minigun, napalm strike, petrol bomb, shotgun, teleport & uzi
(I left out the instant effect utilities...)

Do you have set the ammo count to something <>0 and the delay to 0 for each weapon?

Bazooka is set to infinite.
Granades are set to 5.
etc etc etc...

Delay is set to 0.

They never shoot. And no, they don't stay to close to me...they walk around, jump, think...but always skip and don't shoot.

That's extremely strange! I wish you could post a replay! Too bad WWP doesn't have replay-recordage, like WA. ;D

Could someone help me please?

The editor sucks. I created a new mission...two red teams, two yellow teams (CPU). CPU's intelligence is set to 1 and 4.

Each team has four worms with 200 energy each. Each team has weapons. But nothing happens!!! The worms are not spread randomly...they are always @ the same positon.

Then the CPU runs away and skips his turn...each round, although he has weapons. I tried to switch off "CPU friendly"...nothing happened. I tried to select the bazooka as standard weapon of the CPU...he still skipped his turn and didn't shoot.

EDIT: And in all crates there is only "worm selection"....

This is so frustrating. I want to play with my girlfriend (who is a total beginner) vs. two CPU-teams but can't as they don't shoot.

What else could I do?

Maybe it is a general but in the editor? Or maybe someone could create a multplayer mission with 2 human teams (co-op), 2 CPU-teams, four worms per team (--> 4x4), 200 energy...for me it never works. :(

Why not simply put a team in for each of you, set them both to the same colour and start a normal multiplayer game against a computer team with a different colour? Makes for better variety with the maps aswell.

This doesn't work, does it? In online mode you can only add human teams but no CPU teams.

We want to play online because my girlfriend doesn't live in my town.

Ah, I thought you were on the same computer. It would make things easier if you two just played against someone else on WormNet. Or perhaps get one of your friends to play the role of a moving target.

Well...other players would be bored because my girlfriend is totally new to Worms (and ALMOST to computer games as well)...so she needs a lot of time for her moves, can't use the rope and isn't an opponent at all. Don't know if others wouldn't be bored then. :)

She should play the training missions, the deathmatches & the missions then.
Every player, no matter how good, has started at zero sometime.

We have a distance relationship (1000km)...cannot see each other often...so when she has time and doesn't have to work we want to play together. She can't use her rare spare time for practicing alone because then we wouldn't be able to talk to each other on the phone etc.

Well, but that's offtopic anyway.

The problem is that the CPU doesn't shoot and there must be a solution. Either there is a solution or the editior has one huge bug.

Have people never created a multiplayer mission with working CPU-teams that actually shoot?

Sorry if Yellow is your favorite color... this is your solution:

1. Change the color of the computer teams to Blue.
2. Re-add the weapons you want for the Blue CPU teams.

Enjoy :)

1. Change the color of the computer teams to Blue.
Huh?
So you mean the computer teams can only be blue?
Strange...

No, it is not quite that simple. The problem has to do with the way wwp reads the mission data, and the way the mission data is saved. For some odd reason, wwp seems to place the weapons in order of consequetive team colors.

I'll give you an example. If you add a Green CPU team in a cooperative multiplayer mission and give that team infinite bazookas, they will not attack. The reason for this is because wwp is not reading the mission data file correctly. Instead of reading this as the Green CPU team has infinite bazookas, wwp reads it as there is a Green CPU team in this mission with no weapons and the blue team has infinite bazookas even though there is no blue team. The Green CPU team cannot attack because it has no weapons.

WWP loads the consequetive team's weapons to the consequetive colored team.

You can have a green team and other colored CPU teams in a mission, but only if their preceding colored teams are also in the mission. (Example: You must have a Red and Blue team in the mission in order to have a Green CPU team with weapons.)

isnt it just? I didnt actually know it was that that was causing it but have run it to it alot, i tended to just re-make it and hope it worked... normally it did but probably just because i wasnt so picky with the colours second time round.
