I have installed WA on my computer, and my friend has a copy also, and we both installed the latest updates. However, most of the time when we try to play a LAN game together, an error message pops up that says "parameter is incorrect" right after we click play. My friend never gets this message though. Is there some fix I need? What does this message mean? Thanx for the help.

Is there anyone who can explain what the "parameter is incorrect" error means or how to fix it? Thanx.
Well, that's strange. Does this happen with every map and scheme you try to use? Are you able to play local games with the same map and scheme settings?

It doesn't happen all the time, but it seems like after the first successful network game I play, it always comes up, and I have to completely quit the game and restart it before it works again (and sometimes not even that works).
I haven't had any problems playing localy on only my computer. It's only during network play. I have to admit I haven't tried wormnet yet, so I don't know if it's just a LAN issue or overall network play that gives me the error.

I just started getting this exact same error with a friend, playing LAN.
We both installed the US CD version of W:A then patched WA_update-3.6.28.0_Beta_Installer.exe
basically followed this: http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/installguide-original2.php
Now random maps work fine, but when we try the predefined theme maps most of them don't work.. Out of the ones we tried, City, Art Class, Beach, Birthday, and Cars all give the "The parameter is incorrect" error. But we tried New York, Chemist and Wormore and those work fine, it might be the same issue techguy posted. Also we were using default themes.
Any idea how to fix the?
perhaps similar to my post here. (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=34088) however i can run pre defined maps fine.

franpa, I don't understand what you did differently?
And did you try all predefined maps?
ah i had two exe files. a wa.exe and a "wa original.exe" file.
the one with the space in its name was showing the parameter error. so i renamed it to wa_original.exe and now the problem appears to be fixed.

ok, well my friend and I are both using wa.exe to launch. We are using original copies and don't have any no-cd patches or anything.. the odd thing is, It's only doing this on certain maps.. everything esle is fine.
However the only person who gets the error message is not the host.
