Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Saffya, one of few females on this forum, I'm a drawer type person, and I draw stuff. There's a word for that isn't there, it begins with 'a'...

Let's just pretend you didn't read that :P At the moment I've only got a few old sketches on show (this one here comes from 2005 I believe), but hopefully some nicer stuff will come (Oh yeah, I need to get them bloody comics done, and pop Worms 4 into my PS2 more often).

Well, I don't have much reference of some worms other than an old sheet of his worms sprites, and I drew from memory so...well :P And that picture of Luigi in a dress, well, that WAS the best part of Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga ^^;

I'm working on page 11 of The Shovel as I type this! My tablet's gone funny again (I'd love to have a Wacom) so I can't do any of that fancy Painter stuff at the moment (no way I'm doing it with a mouse), but here's something to keep you happy - behold a MARKER drawing, done with my lovely Copic markers. I've only got 3 colours at the moment but I'm getting more.

When i first got here you were just about to leave, so i don't remember much, but i do remember the Shovel Comic. You should repost the links since most of them (actually, i just checked the last one) are broken. :p

That Animation seemed kinda emo, but neat. The blood puddle got inconsistent, covering part of the worm at some part, but it's not a major issue. Good job. :)

About the comic, i don't think i can criticise your art much, since you already got the hand of it. The only thing i could suggest is work on the background but i think you've made it like that on purpose, cause i've seen what you're capable of. Great work! Hope you keep your motivation for a while! ;)

The whole comic can be found here, since it's not really worth putting them up on DA as single pages anymore. They all went when I made my move to my new account. And yeah the background was like that on purpose. Always been a weak point but I promise better looking ones in the future after this story is done.

No, the first thing was breasts but then I noticed there are no nipples.
The second thing was testicles, since the worm who is singing appears to be male.
Also, with Saffya being female, the chances of testicles being the first thing on her mind are higher than if, say, Zeor had made the animation.

Frothbox? That long ago? Cool, I remember that a lot. I still have my flash around somewhere on newgrounds.

I'm pretty sure it was done in 2006, round about the time Splapp made Sonic Breaks His Neck. I also had a piece that I think Cisken sent as well. I can't find the combined project at the moment though. 3 years since I last animated though, cor blimey.

Sorry for bumping but I've just finished page 15, and there's one page to go now. I know the backgrounds suck right now but I may as well keep it this way rather than make it spanking new. The last page wasn't even completely drawn, let alone scanned, so I plan to finish it off tomorrow while I hopefully have a free day tomorrow. No extra work at the shop, no shopping, just quality time at home.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who, well, ate too much mexican food.
So much bad food that he got diarrea.
And the diarrea was so bad that he fainted.

Brush your teeth before you have breakfast; also, for a short while, change the flavour of your toothpaste to something else. Bubblegum toothpasted helped my when I started being sick while brushing teeth- it made toothbrushing a nicer thing.

As a critique, i didn't find it much funny. Worthed a giggle, though. Being honest. :p

On the background deal, try not to make it that blurry and undefined. I usually draw it well defined and blur it later on, adjusting the level of blur with the distance. You can do that with photoshop + layer masks. But the core of the tip is: don't do it so blurry! :)

YES! You can FINALLY rotate the canvas with a tool and it has openGL features and a bunch of other nifty things. The layout stays almost the same as CS3 but it's quite different from CS2. I'd advise you to change right now.

OK. For now, in an attempt to keep my art going, I'm doing a watercolour of worms doing what they do best - fighting on top of cliffs and stuff. I've got room for at least 30 worms, so anyone who wants their sig in this, please do say.

That's acrylic ink that I watered down and somehow didn't pick up properly in the scanner. Doesn't seem to like purples that much so I end up resorting to hue adjusting, and other attempts at correcting colour often leads to eye blinding results.

Watercolours are a lot easier than most people think, but what's most important is using the right brush sizes for certain sections. For example, to paint a whole sky in one or two colours, you'll need a brush that's at least an inch wide. And I'll probably need a new bottle of masking fluid for this group pic as there'll be lots of little details over a big sky.

Masking fluid covers up certain parts of the paper while you paint over it and when you take it off it leaves a nice patch of white, great for doing little details in it. Kinda like masking tape and stencils, only messier. :P

This is why I don't often draw in anime. I've tried before when I was more of a weeaboo, and the results were just horrendous. That doesn't mean that some other Japanese styles haven't influenced me though.

Most of the Comic Relief sketches absolutely blew tonight, not even the Robbie Williams one they just showed make me laugh that hard. The appeals they show every 20 mins or so though do the job much better when it comes to actually making donations, and I made my first proper one thanks to them now recognising Paypal. :D

See, that's a properly done anime worm. Just about all other attempts I've seen blow the differences in styles so very out of proportion that they end up just looking deformed.

You mean unweighted? Heh, loads of real anime shows have lineart like this when you look closely; it seems that the only lines they weight are the eyes. The aim of that pic was to see what it looked like if I just used thin strokes rather than fills like I usually do.

I disagree. In the long run it's faster to draw, and faster to animate compared to traditional disney-style animation. It's efficient.

And it's a lot better than what many non-anime animated cartoons do nowadays, what with doing vector-based graphics with barely any animation other than motion-tweens.

Of course the alternative is taking months to animate frames by hand.

Not saying it's an excuse to get lazy, but you know.

It's like GameMaker. There's a lot of junk made from it just because it's the easiest to use, but that doesn't mean it's worse than the competition when it comes to high-end stuff.

I've never really been an anime and manga fan for fears that I'd become one of those overly obsessive types that think that they live in Japan but are far from there. I've struggled enough with my art as it is whether or not it's of a cartoon character or my back garden, and for someone to tell me not to draw certain things anymore will only make it worse. Mononoke was definitely my favourite. I recently watched Laputa: Castle in the Sky, which I found surprisingly good, but I found Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle to be a bit meh. I'm not sure why at all as they're all pretty similar, really.
