I am having problems install WA on my friends comp....it installed fine on mine. Here's what happens. The autoplay feature works, then when the installshield program tries to run it just pops up and then disappears. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same exact problem. I tried disabling the DMA and that didn't work. I've run out of options why WA won't install on my boyfriend's computer...someone help please!

Do you all mean that doesn't install? Or can't play when it's installed?

I've had this problem for a while now. I put the CD (original) into the drive, the screen comes up with the W:A logo and the mushroom cloud saying "Preparinng to Install" and then it just disappears. Presumably, InstallShield should come up and take it from there, but nothing happens after that point.

Edit: I've tried just about every suggestion I've seen on these forums. I've run a search on the word
"Install" and checked out what everyone else has said. The only thing I see that I haven't tried is replacing command.exe in \system32\
(I don't have an XP CD)

This is what happened to me before I used MEH's Automatic Installer (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30453). I am running Windows XP x64-bit edition and when I tryed to install it, the install thing would start, then just close down. I stronly suggest using MEH's Automatic Installer (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30453) which also negates the need for you to patch and update because it does it automatically :)

You should know that the installer is in X:\Install folder (where X is where you pt your WA CD).

Try to use the Win98 compatibility, maybe works.

Tip: The MEH's Installer is really good, in fact, you only will need the CD to play, all the files are downloaded, and you don't have to patch it, becauz its patched already :D.

The file is about 1,7MB, so, very portable (also needed internet to download the files).

Guys, don't install your copy of W:A on other computers than your.
Well, that's not really illegal, as long as you don't leave a backup copy.

Who would buy a copy of W:A, install it only on a mate's pc, and put it in the shelf? ôô
Anyway, i don't care anymore. I bet half of the guys here are pirates.

It's okay, I make up for one of them. I purchased the Sold Out version even though I already have the original... having assumed that the disc was the problem. =/

I know you didn't, I was just jokingly implying that by buying a(n unnessecary) second copy I was making up for one of the pirates' evildoing.

Edit: I'm giving that second copy to my 10 year old sister, so watch your damn mouths in chat haha.

You're letting your ten year old sister connect to the internet?

She'll have nightmares forever.

Well, she's not mine to control. In fact, the little monster is rather uncontrollable. But she is allowed to use the internet... maybe I'll make sure she sticks to single player worms... or maybe I can show her my shotgun skills and leave her to the harmless websites she enjoys, such as nick.com, disney.com and bdsm.com.
