I dunno why I am commiting myself to this, but for some reason I am. So, I am writing a Worms Forts Under Seige mission guide. The first mission is here, and ready to be done. I will do them whenever I get around to it, so please do not moan, and ask me to be quicker.
I am basing these on the fact that you should have have done the tutorials. It is worth it, as you get to unlock stuff.
Please don't change the contents, and you may use it on your site, so long as you give me the credits. If there is anything you would like to see in it, tell me here.
Thanks,
Cyclaws.
This document is in the form of .DOC, .TXT and .PDF. This should open in both MS Word, MS WordPad and Adobe Acrobat, so it should be sufficiant.
Thanks.
This guide is now complete.

Thanks Pilot.
UPDATED: Now includes tutorial guides, and what you win after completing each one. You will find it gets updated a lot in the first week or so, untill I get to the harder missions. The tutorials look better in Word.
EDIT (19/11/04): Updated again, now with mission two guide.
EDIT (20/11/04): Few minor detials added to guide overall.

I'd help you with it, considering I've got gold on all-but-three missions so far, but I honestly can't be bothered going back. :p
But, if you ever need any strategies for a certain mission, I could certainly give some tips.
double post edit:
Here's a random guide from me, to help those who are furthur on. They are random levels and I won't dedicate much time to it. They are more strategies than guides. Oh, and Cyclaws has said he allows it.
Oriental #1: The Fall of the Warlords
Step one: Defeat Warlord 1:
You can do it one turn, but don't go over the bridge, wastes time and risks mine detonation. Use the ice to the left.
Step two: Surround Warlord 2 with Keeps:
Use "ballistas" on surrounding towers, down in the two shots. For the keep at the back, use whatever. 2 turns of ballistas should do it, but maybe a rhino from your Keeps, diagonal to it.
Step three: Build a wonder:
Really, you can do whatever, but go for the Victory Location in the top-right of map, since you can take out enemy towers from there. Use initative to take out the link, and then take the northern Victory Location, to ensure enemy doesn't take it. Then, take the last remaining VL and build a wonder. Finish turn and win.

UPDATE 1(21/11/04): Mission Three guide, however I have only got to silver on that mission. If you know how to get gold, please emial me at cyclaws [at] gmail [dot] com, replacing the words in brackets with the symbols. You will be credited.
UPDATE 2(21/11/04): If you have already read through it all, I recomend you read through again, as many changes have been made throughout.
Would a mod be so kind as to sticky this thread? :o

Greek #2: In Hot Pursuit
Step one: Defeat the rear guard:
Start building towards the stars at this point, support your towers with links to main base/nearest-to. The first one to build is, after jumping to the tower to your right (watch out for mines), the top-left corner of available squares, and then the next turn the one to the right of that. You can figure it out from there.
In turns, fire ballistas to first tower spouting from each side of the enemy stronghold, hopefully destroying them in 3 (4 is OK, but don't slack) turns (Two ballistas damaging towers from that distance will be approx. 89hp). It's simple really, but account for wind resistance.
After destruction, and a chain reaction leaving the enemy worms with 7 or 8 health left, pick off the worms with your favoured method, build towards the Victory Locations.
Step two: Consruct a Hospital and raise a crew for the voyage ahead:
Simple, build towards Victory Locations, skipping turns after making each tower (to save time) and build the hospital, spawn the two needed worms and voila!
Gold requirements (inconclusive): 15+ minutes remaining.
double post edit:
Egypt #3: Oooh, and it Makes Me Wonder:
Step one: Build a Wonder:
This involves initiative for speed. Build tower on first Victory Location, and fire ballistas at the first pyramid. 4 shots (2 turns) will take it out, from there, keep building towards second VL (well, third, technically), once there, build a castle and use homing pigeon on pyramid. If it hits, the pyramid is taken out. Keep building towards Wonder location. Only use 1 worm (use Worm Select) to ensure speed.
Gold requirements: 20+ minutes remaining (possible with 23 remaining)

Presenting over the next day or too...
The complete guide to the medieval timeline (and maybe a couple more orientals...)
That's right!
Medieval #1: The Magic of Merlin:
Step One: Build a Keep [on the stronghold spot]:
A tricky one, really, a bit of luck is needed. First, build a Keep connecting the other forts to the lighthouse. Then, recommendedly, use a Seige Onager on the first Tower to destroy in one go (restart if fail). Then, leaving one worm behind, bring worms up to upper level of map, and build a keep in enemy Tower's old location, and proceed to destroy with favoured weapons. For the Keep that like to annoy you, with the 2/3 other worms at it's side, use the minigun to take out the top of it. Then, progress as normal.
Gold requirements: Unknown. It's one of the few missions that I haven't got gold on.
Medieval #2: A Knight to Remember:
Step One: You must survive at all costs:
Self-Explanatory.
Step Two: Capture all Victory Locations:
Once started play, build the first Tower you can, and use Super Hippo on enemy Keep (up above) using the Castle next to your stronghold. Attack the one closest to enemy stronghold. On second turn, build another Tower, earning first Victory Location. Again, use Super Hippo on other Keep next to enemy stronghold, severing all ties for your enemy's fortifications. Then, build 2 more towers (look on blimp view to find second Victory Location), before having to move up to higher level on map (Near enemy stronghold. Use jetpacks. Leave one worm behind). Continue to build in any way on upper level, and start destroying enemy stronghold, using Worm Select to select worm left on lower level, incase the "supporting tower" is damaged.
Gold Requirements: 30+ minutes remaining.
Part two of guide later.

UPDATE 1(23/11/04) Mission 9 with instructions on how to get gold.
Could I make a suggestion for mission 9? On turn 1 & 2, on the second castle, use a cluster launcher, 1 second, about 2 units of power, and aim just above the enemy castle near in-front of you. This is because Enemy Boggy has a habit of using the mini-gun on your second castle and rendering it useless.

Thats a waste of time. You don't need the second Castle.

Just finished mission 9 (after 3 tries :( was trying to kill their ehrm, bases but ran out of time twice :P) anyways, i used the tip from the guide to kill the keep left of the enemy's base to destroy the hostital and such. After that i sent a man up onto the tower with the 2 blue enemies and used firepunch till they both where down ( 80 damage if they fall :P). After that is was just killing the enemies as fast as possible.
This was hard ;)

In that misschien is the objective to destroy all enemies? And to be honest, it wasnt possible to destroy both bases (strongholds ;)) in the time given. Hence the 3rd try i tried to do it this way :)

3 more missions today, people! 1st, an Mission 9, Enemy at the Gates. Then, part two of my complete guide to the Medieval era.
Greek #4: Enemy at the Gates:
Step One: Surround the Statues:
See step two.
Step Two: When the Statues are Surrounded, Destroy all Defenders:
First, build the "Super Hippo-crate tower," and claim crate. Go to second castle, and use Cluster Launcher (1 second) and aim slightly above enemy castle (In line with bottom of grey part of door), and fire for about 2 units. This should hopefully destroy the top of said castle. On second turn, build tower in line with your stronghold (on the left), then use Ballista off of that tower, and aim at "Super Hippo-crate tower". Hopefully, the blue-team enemy should have aimed at that tower, meaning you can destroy it in one turn. On next two turns, build towers on the other two Victory Locations around same statue. Use Super Hippo on first, attack whatever on second. On turn 5, rebuild "Super Hippo-crate tower" and claim its bounty. Again, on turn 5 & 6, aim Super Hippos at enemy stronghold, destroying it. Also on turn 6, build first of towers on other statue.
Now, turn 7, build 6th of the 8 towers required, and jetpack to the Blue-enemy area. Use bazooka on worm with 110 health (?) to reduce health to 55. On subsequent moves, build more towers (rebuilding destroyed ones also) and Worm Select the worm in Blue-enemy area, and 'zook' worms. Repeat until Victory.
Gold Requirements: 5+ minutes remaining (informed by Cyclaws). Possible with 15+ remaining.
Thanks to Cyclaws for basis on this guide. Sorry that it sounded too much like a guide, rather than a strategy.
And now;
The Complete Guide to the Medieval Timeline Part 2
Medieval #3: A Kingdom is Born:
Step One: Capture Three Victory Locations:
See below.
Step Two: Build Camelot According to Merlin's Plans:
This mission is simplicity in itself. Build Keeps in corners, and towers in sides. For attacking, use Old Women and Chilli Con Carnage, or your own preference. The Victory Locations are captured through building.
Gold Requirements: 30+ minutes remaining. Easy.
Author's notes: People will remember this mission from second single-player demo, released by PCZone. What you don't know is the humour based on Arthur's wife wanting a castle, which, when you see it, is pretty funny.
Medieval #4: A Quest:
Step One: You must Survive at all Costs:
Self Explanatory.
Step Two: Complete all the Tasks:
The Breath of God:
Use the Parachute to collect all the crates. Use quad-jump, and consider wind. Simple.
The Might of God:
Only aim to destroy stronghold.Use weapons in order of strength first (Use tower weapons, then Keep weapons etc), and account for wind resistance. Aim so the enemy citadel roof is just viewable, and about 3 & 1/2 units of power, and 2 or 3 second timers, depending on fire power for Cluster Launcher. Aim for bottom of citadel in line with bottom of screen, and 4 units of power for Chilli Con Carnage. For the Rhino, simply aim as high as you can. For the Fridge Launcher, aim, again, so that the citadel roof is just about visable, 4 units of power, and 2 seconds (possibly 3). For the Giant Crossbow, just try and aim yourself, aiming slightly higher if the wind-speed low, and aim slightly lower if the wind-speed is high.
The Leap of Faith:
Simply jump and the path, using different jumps for length of jump. Use girders if uncomfortable about if you can make it, since you'll have to do everything all over is you fail. You have 150 seconds.
Step Three: Come Back with the Holy Grail:
Complete the level, basically.
Gold Requirements: Completion, I believe.
Author's notes: The descriptions is hilarious for this mission, and I have typed it out:
"It's some years now since Arthurwas crowned king of Briton. In fact, it's so long that he's forgotten about it.And thats not all he's managed to forget... He's forgotten his wedding anniversary! As per usual, he's sent you out to find a nice gift for his wife which should be 'something nice', 'quite unique', and 'not too expensive'. There is only one gift that can fit the requirement... the Holy Grail!"
Also, I would like to know where the tests come from, initially I thought Monty Python's The Quest For The Holy Grail, but it appears it doesn't. Of course, I expected more Monty Python references, since we've seen many in the history of Worms...
Part 3, the final mission of the WFUS campaign, is tomorrow. For the record, I completed it on Sunday, and have got 81% complete, with 15 golds, 5 silvers, and 6 deathmatches remaining.
Thx, Cyclaws. That mission guide helped me through mission 3, and I had problems with mission 5. Thx ! :D

That's very very strange. I'm almost certain it's impossible to complete the mission without building there (and I should know; I've played that blasted mission enough times). There couldn't have been a tiny bit of stronghold left, by any chance?

Maybe you forgot to collect the crate that contains them. They appear when you build a tower on one of the positions when building about those two statues.

There are two statues you have to build around. One of them gives a Rhino when you build on a certain point around it, whilst the other gives a Hippo. Try the other statue.

"There was an error opening this document. The viewer cannot decrypt it"

Okay, two possible reasons.
1) You need to upgrade to a better version of the reader, I tried to save this document as a .PDF for earlier readers, but couldn't.

Okay, two possible reasons.
1) You need to upgrade to a better version of the reader, I tried to save this document as a .PDF for earlier readers, but couldn't.
2) For some reason, your reader couldn't decypt the encyption I put on it (which, according to the error message you got seems liable). Therefore, I removed the encryption for you.
It works fine now, thanks :)
Cyclaws,
In your guide to level 13 "fall and rise of the defenses" I noticed that you did not include the ability to shoot a rhino at the enemy stronghold. It can be accomplished easily. on the last castle that you told us to build, you can launch a rhino as high as you can and it should charge into the enemy stronghold!
I hope this helps.
double post edit
Also, can you please add in what time remaining you need for gold. (Although it wont affect me much because I already got 100% complete)

I appreciate your help on the matter, but I don't think its nessesary to change any of the missions guides, as I have had great feedback (as you can tell more on page 1) the way it is. If enough people ask though (please PM me, more personal), I may change it.
Also, I can't do the times now, because I completed the game, so it doesn't work. Like you said though, its not really nessesary. If people follow the guide accuratly, and quickly (just as quick as it is possible), they will get gold. :)
Also, I would like to know where the tests come from, initially I thought Monty Python's The Quest For The Holy Grail, but it appears it doesn't. Of course, I expected more Monty Python references, since we've seen many in the history of Worms...
Have'nt you seen Indiana Jones?

Thanx Cyclaw!!!!!!!!!
This isn't really the thread to be asking that in. Have a look on the internet, and the Team17 shop, and see if you can find it there (it will be on the Team17 shop, thats for sure).

Thses guides are realy helpful, nice one :D
thanks dude helped a lot! :)
Cyclaws, I have tried this "Magic of Merlin" like 20 times and now my wf:us is somewhere in my closet. I don't get it, it's impossible to get through this mission because the enemy manages to destroy my keep that connects to the lighthouse, and every single building in the cliff will be destroyed.. That is really annoying!! Have you completed this mission ? :)

I've completed every mission with gold. :) If the Magic of Merlin mission is the one I remember, all you have to do is build a fort how it is described in the book.

I moved 3 of my guys up the cliff and kept one down, so that when my last guy's turn came, I could repair the building then (I think you have 2 of those). The only way (when I played it) that the enemy takes significant damage is through the minigun. If the keep's health is less than 100 when the 4th worm's turn comes, I suggest you repair it.
I got gold with that method on my first try.

Thanks a lot .... it is very useful..
It's been awhile since I've posted but I'd like to say thanks cyclaws for the mission guide. I just can't get throught these missions without some help. Hopefully, this guide will help. Again, Thank you. Ode
my save file got corrupted after completing the game (15 or 16 gold, 2-3 bronze, and 2 silver) and was 'truncated' on reboot; upon restarting the game, a new file seems to have been created, as it has reset my campaign, deathmatch and tutorial progress and has reset all custom settings, including erasing my schemes, teams and control settings; has anyone uploaded a save filewith better than 0% progress, and would they mind linking me it?

You do realise that the post you quoted was made in 2004. And that WFUS was first released in mid 2004 in Europe.
You do realize it took you 3yrs to reply?
