View Full Version : Why can't I Import custom levels?

I am real sorry to start another topic (and delete it if it seems useless (but i don't think so)), but it seems that this problem is not only bugging me and needs a fresh thread.

Somehow, i tried everyhting, but imported maps won't show up in my editor screen. I have pressed the disk icon for more than a hundred times, but it just keeps dissapearing without the desired result. After searching this forum i came across more people who had/have this problem and the replies didn't contained a sollusion. I changed it to any format i can think of, but none of them work. Even the standard logo.tga and so, which do appear in the list like my custom made level, can't appear after clicking the 'load' button. I just get back to the editor.

What is it???

I have reinstalled, patched, transported, etc. etc. but nothing works. I do have worms editor which makes my photo's as levels fine. But why doesn't it work in a multiplay (I don't mean online multuplay)?

Is there a smart person there who can give me the final answer on this? I would love it, cause i have already spent a lot of time on it....

Thanks in advance.

Two stupid questions:
1) Are the maps actually IN the Import folder?
2) Are the maps in .bmp, .jpg, or .gif format?

1: The documents, like the standard logo1.tga, are in the map 'Import'. My own made maps are next to those maps. So they are in this folder: C:\Team17\Worms World Party\User\Import

2:The maps I made by myself are in .bmp format. But the standard maps .jpg, .tga and .jpg aren't working either, though I can see them in the terraineditor, behind the disk.

In today's lesson, we learn what happens when you start a new thread for the same problem: you get the same advice.

what is the advice?

double post edit:

There must be a step that I missed, or any other form or error. Maybe it's usefull to, once again, explain step by step what I did and what I wanted.

After I installed WWP and the patch to play online and the WWP-editor, I started making my own missions. The thing I didn't knew was possible, was transporting your own photographs into worms as an actual playgorund. Playing on your head is really cool! Of course, I also wanted these own-made-photo-levels as multiplay. So after checking this link: http://home.iprimus.com.au/vahagn/wmmt/ the import should be easy...
In the map C:\Team17\Worms World Party\User\Import I placed my own made photo as a level, including the black background. So my document is besides the standard terrains: logo1.tga, logo2.bmp and logo3.jpg.

Arrived in WWP, I click on the gameoptions and go to the terraineditor. There I find the disk, which, after clicking, shows me a list with the above mentioned documents. By now it should be simple... Just select the desired map and press 'load'. So I did. But the window where 'load' stood, simply dissapeared and no landscape (even after just trying to play) occured. With the standard documents I got the same result. The box with the text 'Choose the soil background for your custom level' should appear, but doesn't.

I have really no clue anymore which step or error failed. Is there someone who can help me? This should be the place to be...

Thanks again in advance.

Well, at this point in time, the best advice I can give is update graphic drivers and direct X. I'll hopefully think up a new excuse solution later.

Thanks. I followed your advice, but (...of course) the problem remains... I am starting to get desperate here...

Darn, I have the same problem with you, neither I can import these levels. Too bad that nobody knows how to fix it...

Yeah, it's really strange... and annoying. I even mailed Team17 some time ago, without result.

Could someone attach one of the custom levels that doesn't work, and/or e-mail it to me at sargemccluck@wwwclan.de so that I can test it?

Thanks.

Thanks for responding. It's not one particular level, it's any level. You know the standard import levels (logo1.tga, logo2.bmp and logo3.jpg)? Even they don't work, so it is not a problem in my own made custom level. But maybe: should I attach these in an email anyway?

Hmmm. It's strange that even the default logo files don't import.

Can you tell me the exact steps you do, and exactly what you click? I can try to recreate it possibly.

Sorry for taking 5 days to reply.

I have this same problem... even the 'logo' levels won't load...
Did anyone ever find a solution/workaround for this ?

I'd like to bring this thread back to attention because I, too, have this issue. Again, the issue is that, for some of us, WWP will not import correctly-readied full-color images as maps to play on, even the three provided by Team 17: logo1.tga, logo2.bmp, and logo3.jpg.

When those of us who have this issue click on the "Import" icon in the Terrain Editor of WWP, a list comes up of all applicable image files within the "User\Import" folder, but clicking on one and hitting "Load" does nothing.

Does anyone know how to make it work?

Thanks.

I am wondering if this is OS related.....

it used to work for me, but now it doesn't :(
maybe it has something to do with the patch?

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but it was one of the few I saw when searching for the issue.

System:
Windows XP Home Edition- Service Pack 2
Latest DirectX - Updated with "dxwebsetup.exe"
ATi Radeon x800xtPlat Edition with Catalyst Control Center v1.2.2271.39125 (Lastest on 23/5/06)
AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Problem: Wont load any custom files, BMP, JPEG or otherwise. I cant load the original supplied images in the directory C:\Team17\Worms World Party\User\Import

WWP Version: Service Pack 1 (Europe) : Patch (Europe) [.exe | 4.26Mb]
No other patches have been applied, ie mission editor.
I can successfully host and join WormNet internet games.

Someone earlier wanted step-by-step on what we did. Personally;
1-Install game from the CD
2-Download and install the Service Pack 1
3-Goto Offline multiplayer mode, right click the map for terrain settings
4-Click the floppydisk icon
5-Here i can see a list of files in the directory "C:\Team17\Worms World Party\User\Import" Which include
logo1.tga - logo2.bmp - logo3.jpeg - ie all the standard import images that come with installation.

6-Select an image name from the list, press return/click OK

7-The select file prompt goes away and im faced with the same terrain I had before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

try saving the image as a 256 colour image?

Oh wow, thanks haha.

I opened "logo3.BMP" in paint, saved it as a 256colour image, tried to import it and it works. Strange thig is that now ive imported that image, the others all seem to work too!

Thanks a lot franpa!:D

its a logical thing... worms 2 uses only 256 colours so its natural that it wont work with stuff saved in a higher colour format.

Actually, it seems to have been a tempory fix :| I can't import any images files again haha. Havent changed anything else concerning the game, however.

Strange.

I can't believe there hasn't been a solution for this yet ... The main for me is to make my own levels and play on them with my friends - the randomly generated levels are just a bit too random for my liking.

Shockdude

for me, it's just random
some time back i stopped trying to import because of the same problem
now, with nothing in my part, it works:p

Still no solution for this?

It's really weird, because I could import maps for years, but now it has suddenly stopped working. Wtf? It's exactly the same problem the others have.

I've had the same problem. Maybe it has to do with the wrong demensions of the map or it needs to have a transparent background

franpa

pubby8, why would some people have copies of the game that came with working maps to import while others didnt?

Peccath
10 Sep 2007, 07:42
Yeah, guys. And at first the maps that came with the game AND the maps I had done myself, worked perfectly. Then something happened.

Too bad I can't remember did I instal the patch for the game or not... Now I have a version of the game that has the patch already installed.

Or maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the patch. It's just weird and annoying. Team17 should fix it, because they're still selling the game (I bought mine few weeks ago).
