Hi there,

I'm a french guy, i'll try to explain my issues with your game, but please excuse me in advance for my bad english.

First, thanks for your games, i play Worms since i was 7, and i still enjoy It.

I recently bought Worms Revolution, and i can't launch it anymore (i succed once, after a fresh install)

To be honest, i tried the game with a cracked version , but it crashed too, i thought it was because of the crack, and i wanted to play online, So i bought a pack of 4 to play with my friends.

3 of us are on Windows 8 pro (x64) and the game crash systematically, but it works fine on Windows 7...

I will not make a dual boot just to play with your game, but i really want to play with it.

I tried everything i could find on the web:

-reinstall the external installers:

"...\Steamapps\common\wormsrevolution\redist\vcredi st_x86.exe
...\Steamapps\common\wormsrevolution\redist\Direct X\DXSETUP.exe"

-verifying my game cache
-Launch Worms In Administrator Mode / Compatibility Windows 7 ...
-Uninstall / re-Install the game.

But nothing works.

Here's my config:

I7 3770K / 32Go Ram / GTX 660TI / SSD Samsung 840 / Windows 8 Pro x64

All my drivers are up to date (windows update too)

Thanks for your support, and please never stop with Worms !

Florent.

looks like an incompatability issue with windows8 if you ask me... that OS really does suck balls anyway, just go back to win7 :D

On a serious note though... in the compatibility tab, check "Disable Desktop Composition" if windows8 has that and see if that makes any difference....

Could also try creating a whole new player profile... your profiles might have got screwed up... that would suck if thats the case... dont know if you recently bought win8 or something, but if the profile was created on windows7, maybe thats your issue... win8 might need a new profile considering how different of an OS win8 actually is...

edit: when you say you cant launch the game anymore, what exactly do you mean? did it used to work? did a patch mess it up? when did it stop working?

First, thanks a Lot for your response.

I bought Windows 8 Pro, and it's a fresh Install (cause my SSD died recently) no dirty update from Windows 7.

I didnt find "Disable Desktop Composition" into the compatibility Tab.
But I think i almost tried everything there (Windows xp compatibility to 7, Administrator privileges...)

when you say you cant launch the game anymore, what exactly do you mean? did it used to work? did a patch mess it up? when did it stop working?

It worked once, after the original install, and another time after an update of my GPU drivers, and bios... but not anymore (and i have nothing more to update)

If i was a huge fan, i definitely put Windows 7 back, but when only one game crash, i don't think it worth It. (and all my professionals softwares / plugins works fine on W8)

Thanks for taking care of my issues, and again, sorry for my bad english.

Florent

yep no problem wish i could help more really, and your English is very good. Yep looks like they took out the "Disable Desktop Composition" with windows8 going by your menu list there... You could try a roll back of the graphics driver, if your using the latest driver, it might be a beta driver then a proper release... Did you try creating a new worms profile? to see if that made any difference? As you updated your Bios as well, you might want to check your Bio settings, and make sure your onboard GPU isn't enabled, that will be the intel HD4000 chip. Worms could be getting confused on which graphics card to use, your 660 or the intel.

It may be worth trying it in compatability mode and/or ticking the "run this program as an administrator" box. Hope you get it sorted out. :)

it works for me perfectly on a laptop with Win8 x64, so it's clearly not an OS issue

Yep, Win8pro x64 here on a Phenom II X4 desktop with a GTX260 and it runs W¦Rev fine. It is not Win8 alone that is the issue. Win8 is an amazing OS by the way, so long as you have a touch screen (laptop) or a Logitech T650 touch pad (desktop) it is a game changer. You need a mouse as well, but it really is great with both interfaces working smoothly together.

Do your systems have anything else in common? Vid card perhaps?

he is using a GTX 660 TI so his graphics card is WAAAY good enough.... He may need to reinstall his nvidia drivers though, or switch to an older version as his system is pretty damn good... He might need to try several drivers to see if any of them make a difference.. if hes using dual-screens, try disabling one first just to get the game to load up, if hes using a tripple monitor display, I dont know if worms can support that kind of display settings, hes using 32GB of ram which is a LOT!! so he must do some out of the ordinary to have so much RAM in his system...
