Hello.

I just installed and tried to play Worms Revolution game from Steam (free weekend), but I seem to have missing maps, worms, etc. See http://i.imgur.com/1vfN1Qc.jpg as a screen shot/capture example. I think there is a missing worm in the main menu too on that computer chair. Everything else seems to work though like the short videos. My primary/Windows XP Pro. SP3 computer details can be found in http://zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/computers.txt (please note that I cannot use the latest video drivers). I tried disabling and using lowest video options, but they did not help. :(

Thank you in advance. :)

Hi.

... (please note that I cannot use the latest video drivers).

Why not? That would very likely fix your problem.

I am forced to use a very old ATI Catalyst driver v9.4 since newer drivers cause Windows XP's clock to slow down with DVI and rare, random hard lock ups when playing videos. :(

It's too late now since the free weekend ended. :(

I'm inclined to agree. There are a couple of other changes that you can make in the display settings section (assuming you can see that): minimising shadows and turning off V sync (is it called that?) but yep, upgrading your graphics card driver should help.

Good luck.

I disabled most of the game's video options, went to lowest resolution, windowed screen, etc. However, I did not touch V sync. I used whatever was default (on?). Would that really affect it? I thought it only affected FPS.

that was a graphics driver issue without a doubt.... what radeon graphics card are you using? I've had simular issues with newer ATI drivers myself but I found one that did actually work though, the 12.1 drivers

See http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33988430 and http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33994195 for the long forum threads on my video driver issues. I narrowed it down to the latest old drivers I could use back in December 2012. I doubt newer ones since then would fix the issues since AMD/ATI stopped caring about Windows XP. :(

ok im gonna go read that stuff see if I can add any incite for ya, but my experience is only with my Alienware Laptop that has 2 5870s in Crossfire mode. I was to the point where every single time I tried to install anything above driver 9.1 i think it was, I would litterly blue screen and windows would barely load up at all...

In the end I had to install cleansweeper in safe mode to get rid of all the ATI drivers completely before I installed any newer drivers because regular windows uninstall does NOT uninstall everything from ATI, and it causes as MASSIVE!! conflict installing newer drivers ontop of old ones.... Why I shall never get another ATI/AMD card again, their drivers are absolutely fking shocking!!!.... If you haven't tried that, try that first.. but i am using windows 7 not XP so that could be your issue too....

Edit 1: i may edit this a lot lol.... did you build your own computers of did you buy them? 2nd link in the above post, for your DVI issue, sort of sounds like your graphics card is plugged into the wrong PCI express slot...

Edit 2: Just FYI... DirectX10 does not work in windowsXP... so if you have ANYTHING that needs or uses DX10 it will not work.. that includes games, as well as playing videos that your card may use to improve picture quality like advanced codex's.

None of them fixed the issue. Other XP users said they had weird issues with their newer video drivers too.

Wrong PCIe slots? What do you mean? Aren't they all the same? The computer is custom built with same Windows XP from 2002 or so.

Maybe that's the problem. :(

it very well could be, you could try just reinstalling them all together, just the ones your currently using see if that makes a difference at all... as for the cleansweep, its called driver sweeper my bad :

http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.htmlYeah, I used that program. Yeah, I might need to do a clean install one day since my OS installation are about a decade old or so. I was planning to wait for MS to drop support next year and I don't game much like I used to, so I use old stuff.

fair enough I can understand that, worth considering though depending your particular issue you have...

fair enough I can understand that, worth considering though depending your particular issue you have...Yep. I wished there was a bootable disc/Flash to run old Windows XP with the latest drivers to test instead of installing to my old HDD.
