I always used to love the way this forum worked, because it would save exactly which threads you have and haven't read (that are newer than a certain time I believe), whereas other forums would only save in cookies and automatically mark all threads as read once your session was over. However, recently this forum has been mysteriously marking threads as read that I haven't read, which makes me suspect something's not working quite right. Is it just me, or are other people noticing this?

That's what I noticed a lot of other forums were doing and I hate it a ton when it occurs. I hope this forum isn't succumbing to the same nuisance.

What's actually happening is that I am hiding somewhere within your house and whenever you go to the toilet I crawl out of my nest and mark the forums read for you.

I've not noticed anything abnormal, but I mainly use the "New Posts" page. It seems threads stay unread for about 10 days, before being automatically marked as read. It could be due to the pre-moderation. If you read a thread that had posts awaiting moderation (say they appeared before the last post in the thread), you would have essentially "read" those posts, but not seen them. Then when they were approved the thread would have new posts but you may not be told.

Either that or you've been sleep-reading :p

Or maybe an unmentioned vBulletin update - which gives philby copies of our front door keys.
