View Full Version : New classes suggestions

New classes are not like the most needed thing right now. The game would more benefit from new weapons (or the return of some old ones), some use for the credits, and extra map themes.

But as TEAM17 stated new classes might came in the future, we might as well start suggesting.
The balancing act can be a tricky one - one can guess - so really, merely suggestions here.

Engineer : as weak and fragile as the Scout, he can continue to play after using a tool : so he can for example place a beam and then use a bazooka. Or place a magnet and then use it to power-throw a mine ;)

Vampire : he absorbs some of the damages he inflicts to other worms. But he can't stand water : any contact with it will end it's turn and damages him. He takes 10 damages per turn in water instead of 5.

Cursed : when using a weapon, there's a 50% chance it inflicts only half damages. But anyone who hurts him instantly becomes sick.

Aqua-worm : this little fella LIKES water. He gains 15 life points at the end of his turn if he's in water. BUT he loses 5 if he's on dry land. He's not subject to the physic of water (he can't get carried away).

And here's a few weapon suggestions/upgrades :

Worm-magnetizer : turn a worm, friend or foe, into a living-magnet, either attractive or repulsive. This way you can have an enemy who can go nowhere near any mine, or turn one of your own worm into a brilliant deminer (and throw them at the enemy just by walking)

Lightning Strike : well, wouldn't it be nice if, when using the lightning on water, this water electrocutes every worm inside it ? Water conducts electricity, after all !

Submarine : really, we need either the Aquasheep back... or a Yellow Submarine !

Anyone feel free to suggest more ; maybe one of us will inspire Team 17 for future DLC ;)

Interesting ideas, though getting them properly and balanced into the game would definitely require a second beta.

Also yeah, Lightning strike should hurt every submerged worm who's in the same puddle as the others, because why not and it makes only sense. Water basically consists of a bunch of balls and the game could check for whether they are in contact with each other.

Aqua-worm should have terrible movement on dry land and very high speed and jump height in water. Oh and water weapons that release more water. That would be quite interesting.

A Pyro class could work too. Immunity to fire, all explosive weapons release a bit of fire, fire weapons release more fire, fire lasts 3 turns instead of 2. To balance that out, add in some damage penalty, more damage taken from water, and horrible movement penalties when in water.

I think these ideas would work better if they were perks instead of separate classes .

Wouldn't that make it even more confusing and harder to balance?

class ideas? it's hard not to be overpowered.

Stealth Worm; Mines always dud/longer fuse on his turn. Invisible except when his turn. Invisbility utility returning maybe?

what about the Investment Banker? Weak Health, Weak Attack, Fat, Heavy. Gives you coins /taxes the enemy team into minus coins every turn.

Rope Worm. Roper Worm, weak worm with super rope, parachutes if you fall. (modified scout?)

Ey, you have a lot of imagination guys... I am looking forward to see such ideas turned into reality. I am sure that would be great :D

The classes Tnecniv suggested seem to have gimmicks that all fill really small niches that don't affect your playstyle at a large scale .

I really like these ideas , I can already see Bankers tucked away underground typing away on typewriters as their idle animation .

can there be a special item called the scuba kit where a worm gets a snorkel and little flippers and can go in the water

it can be equipped then as soon as you jump off a ledge it turns into a dive you can swim, uses a timer like the jet packs fuel or simular

These seem more like perks. Maybe for the next Worms their could be team perks like:

Thick skin
All your worms take 10 percent less damage from bullets and fire.

Animal lover
Your teams animal weapons do 10 percent more damage.

Mad scientist engineering
Bazooka's, grenades and guns do 10 percent more damage.

Insert name here
Your worms move 10 percent faster.

Etc.

They would be little tweaks for your team, not big enough changes to give you a unfair advantage.

Don't worry, I'm not part of team 17.
