View Full Version : Positive Feedback for the Team

Greetings all, I'd like start by saying I've been a Worms fan since Armageddon (although I was a late adopter), and I've actually been pretty impressed by Revolution (PS3).

Having read some of the recent threads on this forum, I think some people have been really quite harsh on the new iteration. I see change as a good thing, and that's what I'm seeing in Revolution.

First off, I really like the worm classes. They add such a diversity to the game, and especially in single player, I've had to think more carefully about picking off enemies in a logical order. So far I've only used a team of one of each class, but I'm sure I'll experiment further.

Secondly, the new 2.5D presentation reminds me of LittleBigPlanet - in a good way. It's a nice move away from the same old 2D we've been used to for years, and I don't think the gameplay suffers from it either.

I also quite like the physics objects for what they offer, but the real icing on the cake for me is the dynamic water. I've had a blast using that so far, and really love the way it works. The way the worms react to it via speech is also a nice touch. :)

So far I haven't encountered any game-breaking lag like some have reported. The menus and gameplay are fairly smooth (I've only tried single-player and local multiplayer, mind). The only real framerate drop I've seen is in crowded single-player missions when the AI is 'thinking' about their turn. Once they get a move on, it's fine again.

My only concerns are the lack of multiple team support aside from 'formations', which I realise has already been discussed, and possibly the jet pack's movement. It's fine vertically, but it doesn't seem to want to move horizontally very well, at least for me.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying Revolution and would like to thank the team for all their hard work. ;)

P.S. One thing I've been wondering about: are the 'in-game movies' a PC-only feature, or something? I haven't seen any of the videos in-game that were showcased on YouTube a few weeks ago. Not a problem if they are, I'm just curious.

Totally disagree. The lag is constant and game-breaking, and the physics - as much as I hate to say it - are awful. The game just doesn't run well in general. The new engine they're using seems extremely outdated and slow, and saps all of the strategic, physics-based gameplay out of it, which is what made Armageddon so absolutely wonderful :(

Count me among the seriously disappointed.

I have had no lag what so ever and i've been playing online matches since the day of release... and I'm in the U.S and played people that are over in the UK, on the PC version, dunno what its like for the console versions.....

This is a superb game and me and my friends love it !!! The physics objects and dynamic water add so much strategy to the game now its a LOT of fun, one of the best things about this game is the fact that its not just about who is the best shot or has the best accuracy of a certain particular weapon now, now you REALLY need to think 1 or two shots ahead because the water could seriously cause you a lot of grief if your not carefull... skill is of course still there, and always will be, its a worms game, but now especially with the classes, there is so much more strategy involved now it adds a lot to the worms gameplay in my opinion....

I like the new engine, it runs perfectly fine for me, the looks of the themes really are excellent, one of the most anoying things about reloaded was that the in game landscape editor was so buggy, you could never create a map, and play it online with your friends, NO LONGER the case with revolutions, i've messed around and had some good fun with the editor already, played the levels i've made online with my friends it works like a CHARM!!! finally can spice things up, and create some insane levels now and ACTUALLY play on them with my friends :D

The new look for worms was absolutely a must needed change for the series, otherwise they all really just tend to look the same after Armageddon. The art style, the visuals are bloody perfect in my opinion, all the animation stuff happening in the backgrounds, I LOVE THEM!!!! only thing on that note would be the spooky theme, instead of having frogs I personally would have added zombies or ghosts or something of that nature instead of having frogs that jump in the water in the background, but thats a minor issue...

Singeplayer puzzles, and campaign stuff are superb!! the spooky levels OMG, i have never played AI that good before, that was damn insane!! the AI just simply never ever ever miss with bazookas or genades, it was a little BS to be honest some of the time because the terain was so broken up all over the map and they would do a 100% perfect shot with a bazzoka which flew all around the level from one side to the other and land right on my worms head!! lol... was fun AND anoying at the same time... but their challenging, fun, anoying, fraustraiting with great commentry.... :D love it !!!!

@RobA-C - In-Game videos: On PC there are software like FRAPS that enable you to record game footage... then its just a matter of encoding it and uploading to youtube..

I heartily agree this only this part of you post. I find the background stuff graphical things nice and the in-game visuals to be great. It doesnt feel too 3D, like that worms ages ago where it was actually 3d war on castles; It's still regular worms appearance but 3d. they did a good job on the visuals

I will not mention any negative things as it would be off topic :)

I was actually on about the videos mentioned here (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57967), such as the "in-game intro movie".

I share most of the feelings that are expressed here, :) just few things that I regret : First it's not about gameplay and graphics that are a real success, it's about the game in its functions.

- There is no more multiplayer mode offline, that's a real shame !

- It's also related to the first point, we should have the possibility to have several teams with different customization !

- We should have the possibility to put more than 1 element of customization on our worms : an 'uniform' can not be constituted just by a single hat !

- When creating a game, we should not only be able to select a style of game but also to change weapons panel, sudden death options, worms health etc.

- Simplify menus when playing online : you can create, you research but also create, you can create for only friends, and you have same options with ranking ! Too complicated... just put ranking match and simple match that both go to the list of lobbies with just a 'create button' in a corner.

I have some more to add but I wanted to put what I think really important ;) I know that I am a bit off-topic because it was supposed to be only positive feedback  But as Don Keystone says, you deserve some chips for your work even if there are still some things that make people only concentrate on what's negative. Some things are annoying but most is successful and that's the most important.

I've already mentioned the team are working on this :)

These are defined in the game settings. Select Customise > Edit Game Settings > Choose the mode you want > Create Game Settings > Game Options.

From there you can decide the worm health and the sudden death settings.

Ooooh you're right, I have just noticed it :D

Okay if you're on... I am glad with it and I have nothing more to say about :)

Well I know... but you have to previously modify it and save it - or create a new one. I'd personally like to get access from the game lobby without quitting it. Indeed when you are on internet and you have created a lobby with friends, you'll have to quit to change a setting. I think it would be important to access it directly without quitting the game lobby. As it is now, I am too lazy and I just take default styles although sometimes I'd like just to modify few details like put 'infinite rope' and withdraw 'teleport' utilities. In previous worms games you were able to take a default style and modify directly few settings and then it was said as 'personalised', but you didn't need to modify it previously in game options.

Can you confirm that the team have progressed from 'looking into it' to 'working on it'?

Can anybody comment on if the in game movies are pc only or all platforms? Not really a big deal for me, just curious.
