View Full Version : Money was a bad idea

Games are in themselves an incentive to play because, by their very nature, they are games.

People game to escape, have casual fun or compete on a ladder.

Why do we need Coins and Money as incentives to play, or keep playing Worms Revolution? What about previous titles of sufficient in-game content and replayability that they didn't need a tedious time-consuming coin collecting single player farce to enjoy?

I know, I know, some consumers are happy to grind away at whatever objectives game devs dangle in front of their eyes. Unlocks are the bain of gaming.

It doesn't take that long to unlock stuff if you're used to the series.

The only real issue are the coin crates being near useless at times if you're not playing shopper, and local co op problem which is apparently going to be fixed (for pc too i hope)

I'm not so sure about unlocks being the "bain" of anything, but I understand where the sentiment is coming from. The "buy unlockables from game shop" model has gotten pretty darn tired. And it really bugs the entire bajeezus out of me in W:R when I kill 15 minutes on a mission and get no credits for it because it wanted me to kill 14.

2 crates for a jetpack. That's not useless in Pro-scheme, no way :o

The shop-thing in game needs to be fixed though. Whenever I buy something the shortkeys don't work anymore and there seems to be some conflicting business taking place.

Well to me the unlocks and the hand-holding forced-tutorial are like an aboutturn on the more sandbox origins of Worms. At least to me it used to feel sandbox. But yeah my main gripe is with how it effects local play. It sucks to have clone teams. The time spent on setting up the coin system could have been spent putting a super skunk in :( i miss that dude

i am not planning on getting any DLCs either so cant unlock the blank weapons in-game, either with real or in game coins right? sigh, another one bites the dust

Keep in mind though credits can also be gained from playing ranked matches online. Except for worm classes, everything gameplay-related is unlocked from the start.

If you havent unlocked any extra worms yet and dont wanna play ranked against those who have and maybe have a disadvantage, you can play a ranked classic games - everyone has the standard soldier class in classic.
