Total nut-case! I wonder what he was thinking in the seconds before he jumped off the step. And in the few seconds just after (hopefully not "oh my god, what have I just done???)!

I know what my thought would have been.

Meanwhile, his thoughts while going up were probably along the lines of "Did I leave the gas on?". Which then turned to "Yes, I did leave the gas on, I better get back as quickly as possible to turn it off" before he jumped out.

I think most people watching him jump were thinking that.

I'm surprised he didn't kiss the ground when he landed, I would have.

I don't know. He worked quite hard to get as far away from the ground as he possibly could.
