New version looks good but the framerate has degraded quite a lot on my PC. Admittedly I am running my iMac (Win7 Pro via Bootcamp) at 2550x resolution and have Chrome maximised while I play Worms but it played really nice and smooth on the previous version.

It seems to be linked to the number of active animations at the time. If I'm movnig my worm around and firing it's not too bad but once there is a smoke trail from a bazooka or stars and coins from killing an enemy the framerate drops. It's worst of all right at the start of a game where all the worms are teleporting in and takes a good few seconds for it to settle down.

I have the same problem, but only when there is a bazooka smoke trail. Frame rate drops, not much for the game to be unplayable, but it's noticable.

yep, same, although I thought it was only affecting me.

Adobe Flash really sux...:( you guys should have used something like HTML5 instead. Flash is pretty resourceful and not so effective today.

Actually.. Flash is still used for 99% of online games. Building something like Worms with HTML5 would not only take a very long time but it'd be almost impossible to get it running right on all major browsers.

Flash is cross platform, works in almost every major desktop browser on Windows, Mac and Linux and was built for animations and games. We know it's not a flash specific issue that's causing the slow-down anyway as the previous version worked just fine.

I'm not about the specific issue with this Worms version, but about the flash in general. It has too much useless features, probably explains why most of the video players except youtube lag with it.
the game always lagged in Chrome for me, but almost no lags in IE10.
also HTML5 runs fullspeed in IE10 without any hiccups... the performance tests are awesome

It's not about speed though it's about support for playing a full client-server based game like Worms, and most importantly making it impossible to hack. I've been playing Worms on Facebook in Chrome since I got in to the beta and as I said I'm running it fully maxed out on my 27" iMac and it's always been perfectly smooth. Even my own full 3D game in Flash 11 Stage3D runs great in Chrome at that res too.

Hi chaps

Yep, the frame rate needs a little nudge doesn't it? We'll crack on with that first thing Monday morning!

I find all Flash games run way better in full screen mode so give that a go for now (although you can't use most of the keyboard in full screen mode, so it always pops back to windowed mode for wall posts and editting worm names).

Glad the chat thing is going down well. Just a few emoticons and stock phrases for now, but it already seems to be getting used a lot.

If anyone played Random Opponent and noticed a new-looking landscape theme (even though you could only select 'Random' or 'Medieval' yourself) it'll be because you played one of us Dev staff, as we have been testing out the new Hawaii theme ;) It's lush!

Stayed tuned for the next build coming soon... Something big is about to be added, relating to themes & stuff!

I may be missing something simple, but how does one aquire the daily reward? Is just seeing the daily newspaper count? Perhapse there should be some sort of popup saying you recieved the daily reward?

Hi Sephiroth

You're right... it's not clear enough. Currently it says "grab your daily reward inside now!" which is misleading... The reward is gained the moment the newspaper appears. We'll change the text and add something to draw attention to the reward just gained.

cheers!
