Sometime the clock doesn't count down naturally but it adds up time or takes it away in bigger increments than 1 second. Could be a syncing problem with the server. Maybe it is better to leave the clock to the client and just sync worm movement?

Clocks on the clients will start at the same time anyway.

Ive noticed this too.

Namely when alt+tabbing.

However, even when Worms has the main focus, the time will count down in big chunks, usually right after weapon use. Only been noticing this the last few days.

Also assuming something with time sync between two clients and a server. Im guessing the battles arent real time, but not sure how big a delay there is across the board. Just curious.

The battles are indeed in real time! The pauses you've seen with the timer will probably have been sync issues, the majority of which we've fixed in the last week or so.

You will find a bug with the alt+tabbing as Sephiroth says. This seems to be an issue, mainly in Chrome, where browsers pause games to save memory or whatever it is that browsers want to save on. Because it's pausing a live game it creates sync issues. We're looking into this, but in the meantime, don't tab away from the game! :)
