View Full Version : Changes to OD

As some/most of you are probably aware, OD was temporarily retired and made open to all. Basically, to improve the forum and get a bit more activity, T17 would ideally like to have just one general off topicy place. The response to this from OD members was surprisingly positive! Therefore, there is probably hope for the community migrating out of the OD forum and into The Lounge (http://forum.team17.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=133), the new off topic forum.

However, in response to a few comments, OD has been made private again. Primarily due to concerns about more "personal" topics that have been posted. As a compromise, the old OD forum has been buried deep in the archives. I believe those who originally had access to OD can still post here, but can't verify that.

To try to get people to post in the new forum, I'm happy to move some of the old OD threads out. But will only be doing this if people tell me which ones to move! Unfortunately, during the changes to OD, all the active threads from the "Anything Goes" forum got dumped here, so they need to go out too.

If anyone wants any specific thread moved to The Lounge, please either post here or PM me.

Hope this can keep the community alive!

I think we can still post here. Only one way to find out!

Hmmm that's odd - everyone's posts in OD are going to the mod queue...

Well, except mine :p

Also, in the OD forum only I can see deleted posts and threads. Well, I can't see the content of the deleted posts or thread but the reasons for deletion and who deleted them are there.

It's like I'm so close to those moderator powers but alas, they elude me.

Perhaps due to its location in the Archives?

Guuuhhhhhhhhhh. I'm not sure if I like this.

Oh well. Let me edit that one OD reference out of it just to make absolutely sure for no good reason, then I think I'd like to ask you to move the Zeor TV thread.

Instead of moving threads from OD, I suggest simply recreating the most popular ones, e.g. the 100%OT thread (made by Paul again), the positive/negative/unsigned events and maybe the stupidity thread.

I think there is simply too much "secret", semi-privat stuff scattered in those monstrous threads, that a simple move would be too much effort.

Muahahahahaha!!

That is strange though...

None of the other Archive forums are like this, which is puzzling

Happy for me to move it now?

That's quite a good idea, Bonz. I like! http://forum.team17.co.uk/retropurple/images/icons/icon14.gif

I don't think anyone wants to share their positive/negative/unsigned events with complete strangers though. :p

I think a new 100% off topic thread is blasphemy. Either move the current one, confusing as it may be for everyone, or just let it die. It is the longest thread on this forum after all. If it is to survive, it should be in all it's glory.

Once all the necessary OD threads are back in place, we can continue (serious) business as usual.
[insert Ben/top hat/monocle picture here]

Because the most pressing issue is, to not having to learn new thread titles.
Also, make those recreated threads sticky. I don't want to scroll so much in my old days.

If we want to continue the old "elitism", we could even continue with a spiritual successor of an invite-only, voting-based club, where new members can wear their OD status openly (read: a list of names) as a badge of honour, dedicated to the well-being and etiquette of the forum.

(Misbehavers will be sent to read Aku's avatar thread.)

The bar is closed, basically. :c

Well, kind of. Sort of. Technically.

edit: woah, this place is no longer pre-moderated? Still, I think we're not supposed to post here anymore...
