View Full Version : Replay feature

It's weird that these games never got a "replay" option (at least I saw it nowhere).
That feature could make all versions much more popular, cause people would never lose their cool matches/moves and they will always feel the need to publish it on YouTube or somewhere.
It would be also very nice feature for advanced players to analyse their games.
So, the game should save all replays in one folder. They should have automatically generated names by date and gametype.
If it's the video file that only game can read, then there is no worry that they 'll be too big. Also, developers could always make option to turn saving replays off/on.
That option should support all online and offline (multiplayer/singleplayer) matches.
Maybe WUM could get it in some new patch? ;)

Replays were added to Worms Armageddon in, I think, 2003 or so, so it's not entirely out of the question. It depends on whether Team17 want to implement such a feature, though.

Such a feature has never been implemented by a T17 developer, though!

The replay system in W:A is horrendously simple, because of the way the 2D game engine allows it to work. These 3D games would have much more trouble accommodating something similar. Stick to fraps!

Come on, there are millions of 3D games (some of them are really old) and they have that feature.

Nah, fraps can't do what I need. You can't know when you'll have some interesting match to record it. So, now you have only pretty boring matches uploaded to YouTube. And also, fraps is making .avi format which results with really big video files. ;)

"millions" of 3D games that also don't have destructable terrain :P

It's probably far from impossible to work it in to the current engine, but I doubt we'll ever see it implemented.

If all informations about terrain destructions can be transported via interned in online games to other players, then it seems even easier to make those infos just be saved in our hard drives. ;)

Give some more optimism here please. ;)
