When WA starts it says "colour change to windows7 basic" Is this normal or should I do something to be more compatible?

I don't know why it's doing that for you, but I don't think you should worry about it. Does it change back from Windows 7 Basic after you exit the game?

It is probably just an automatic Windows compatibility setting, shouldn't affect anything.

Yes it reverts back when game is finished OK Does anyone else have this happen?

right click wa.exe - properties. are all the compatibility options off?
maybe it's a setting in the Windows itself. it shouldn't disable aero for wa, that is strange

Remove Vista compatibility and untick everything........ didn't Steps say that already?

Of course Aero can't run in 256 colors! And if you explicitly disabled it with "Disable Desktop Composition"...
