I just put together a new computer with Windows 7 and worms is randomly crashing. It usually happens right before something blows up. I think it could be sound related because some of the effects are not working properly, like select worm is muffled and countdown timer can't be heard at all. But the voices and explosions are fine. Worms is also freezing during game play, It will sometimes 100% freeze for about 15-20 seconds and then comes back. I have a legit copy of WA that I run off a cd image using daemon tools. I ran WA like this for years and never had a problem. I have all the latest updates/drivers and worms is installed in the C drive. I don't really know what else to do, my last computer with win7 never had any problems.

I attached the error log, maybe that can help.

The crash seems to have occurred while W:A tried to reload a texture from disk.

Are you using any antivirus/antispyware software?
Was your CD in good condition when you ripped it?
Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I may be able to find more details if you post the minidump (CRASH.DMP).

I ripped the cd in 2007 and it never gave me any trouble for 2000+ games on my other computer. I just tried reinstalling with the original disc, the sounds were still messed up and it crashed exactly the same way.

This only happened a few times, after it crashed there was a sound loop that wouldn't go away until I restarted. I am using a HT Omega eclaro pci express sound card.

From looking at the crash dump, it looks like the problem was caused by a problem with creating surfaces (DirectDraw was not able to create or lock a surface for a graphics sprite). However, this looks like it happened when the primary display surface was lost, which should only happen when you minimize/restore the game.

I can only conclude that it's caused by a conflict or incompatibility with some software or hardware on your PC.

Since you newly set up your PC, make sure you have correct drivers for graphics and audio (and of course for other things too) installed.
