Hello,

So I'm part of a small french tweaking communauty for Worms 4 and some of us bought Worms ultimate mayhem in the hope of tweaking the game, I had great fun with that feature in Worms 4 and it incredibly increased the game lifetime for me.

So I tried to edit the .XOM files in the tweak folder with some appropriate software for .XOM editing and everytime I try to change a value the game crash when I launch it and it creates a log with stuffs talking about a CRC check, so my question is why did you decided to add protection with tweaking the game ?

I know there was some heavy cheaters in worms 4 with team weapons, but is that the only reason ???

There is a thread identical to this one, made a couple weeks ago. The upshot is that tweaking is possible, you're just doing it wrong.

Then can you give me the link to this thread please ?

I'll take a wild guess and say that they disabled weapon tweaking because as a game that's supposed to appeal to casual players, everyone should be able to play it with everyone else with no networking issues, and since tweaked weapons mean a guaranteed desync for anyone who doesn't have them installed, leaving that "feature" in would be unacceptable.

Of course everything could have been solved by providing proper support for mods, but disabling modifications is just a lot easier, and that's Team17 we're talking about.

Well another reason to add of why this game was useless and just used to get more money, and btw worms 4 still stands.

It's really humilating to don't even have an official answer from the staff.
I think I'm gonna forget about the worms license for a while and come back when team17 will stop recycling their code to make games.
