Yes, just add two teams when playing online and give them different colours (unless you want to play a team game). Be sure to explain to your opponents that you're playing with another physical person, otherwise they'll think you're just fishing for an unfair advantage ;)

Two computers on the same LAN can join the same online game hosted elsewhere, but you may have problems when joining a game hosted online on the same LAN. In such cases, you could use alternative hosting solutions such as WormNAT2 or HostingBuddy.

Hm. Forgot about the multiple teams thing, and had no idea 2 PCs on the same LAN could join the same offsite game.
