If I created a custom speechbank for my worms would other people be able to hear it online? I saw a similar question but it was dated 3 years ago, and I realise Worms Armageddon is being updated still so I figured I would ask.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, not yet.

Sorry, not yet.

I noticed you said not yet, does that mean that it will be included in the future? If so are there any clues as to when?

In or after 4.0.

Also known as "stfu and stop asking about a release date for 4.0 cuz we're working on it and it will be out when it's out".

Just say thank you very much Cybershadow/Deadcode for working on these amazing updates to this classic game.

Yeah, seriously, keep it classy. It's volunteer work after all, much as we'd all like that to change in the future.

I don't, all the red tape and stuff that Cybershadow and Deadcode would then have to go through would probably degrade there experience with maintaining the game even if they were to be paid and they'll probably face forced control over when to release patches, deadlines etc. and dumb people (marketers, CEO's, stock holders etc.) forcing things to be implemented in specific, bad ways >.>

All in all, I don't see continued unofficial support becoming official support as a good thing.

I hope it'll be in 4.0: this sounds so funny. :D

I'm not asking for a release date, just regular progress reports.

Even if progress has gone backwards...

I don't find these fears wholly unjustified, but WA updates already have to be submitted to T17 for evaluation before they're comfortable with uploading them to their website, which they do on their own schedule. As far as the features implemented in updates thus far are concerned, this hasn't been a huge problem to my knowledge and it shouldn't get drastically worse just because the work isn't done pro bono anymore. Particularly since T17 are certainly by now aware that the WA player base is quite picky about what we get and how we get it, not to mention observant enough to notice anything fishy going on. From what Bill has said publicly on the matter, it's obvious enough to me that he at least can tell the differences between our community and those on their more recent games, one of which being that we trust the game's maintainers to know what they're doing almost religiously. Why compromise that?

Deadlines, on the other hand, seem more likely, but wouldn't it just be one deadline for the potential Steam rerelease, then either continued paid post-launch support and updating or simple reverting back to the current state of affairs with David and Vladimir working on updates when they can afford to? Either way we'd end up with a significant chunk of what's planned for 4.0 in considerably less time than it would otherwise take. I'm thinking 32 bit graphics, completely rewritten frontend, new scheme format, new network code, a reorganised WormNet with a solid ranking system and very likely more neat smaller features than we could shake a stick at. Couple that with extra motivation for the (likely expanded) testing team and there's just no way any potential bad would outweigh the already documented good. That's how I choose to see it, at least.

Sorry Horror Sco, but your initial question has been answered. This topic is ourssss now. :p

A third party tool could be to created that makes it easier to upload/download the latest mods. There are already a number of mod managers out there. Just have to find/create one that works well with WA and advertise it to the WA community. Good luck!

Well yeah of course, but the updates are also uploaded to Cybershadows online storage as well (Currently as a mirror) so unless there's a contract denying them, they could release updates at any time at there own leisure with zero interaction from T17 through Cybershadow's online storage.

I know, but I also fear that with more coders/developers the various methods and approaches people take to coding and implementing stuff would increase the development time of future content as well as further complicate bug fixing. They'd need to settle on a Standard, dictating how code should be written etc.

I imagine the release of any update utilising the whole or partial source code (provided by T17) would be strictly forbidden until it had been evaluated.

This is correct. Updates are based on Team17's intellectual property, and unauthorized distribution is restricted by international copyright laws.
