Map is Ghosthill Graveyard

that beautiful ugly chunk of land is what I put in teh map
Only issues are the textures so you have to do some work arounds to do it
but this mean there is some hope for the editing and creating of maps.
I just wish this could be official! :D

Yeah It works nicely :)
Unless someone can get the W4 textures or get the W3D maps to unlock You'll have to go blind with the textures I'm Gonna make a sky land map next :P
this was just a test

It works! Hooray!

But I suppose we do have to replace maps?

Yes you do have to replace maps... oh well most are pretty lame anyways I came out with a test skyland map if anyone wants to try
http://www.mediafire.com/?o36gc0t9nupp787
download here.

I recommend replace the ghosthill graveyard since that is what it was based on
REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR FILES!
also, replace multi_ghosthillgraveyard.xan and multi_ghosthillgraveyard.hmp
NOT ghosthillgraveyard.xan
otherwise you are editing the single player map :P

I wouldn't mind giving myself the trouble of constantly replacing maps I want to play, unfortunately you'll run into problems playing online though.

Team17, there should be a way to properly add user landscapes to the game. That would be real cool, even if they were disabled for online play.

Actually me and my friend replaced the same map with the same map and were able to do mp over the net together. :3
and just find a map everyone hates

That's not what I meant. I was talking about playing with strangers.

Yeah, an official way to make maps would be nice...

If there was a landscape editor ingame or some kind of support (An official program or something) it would add many hours of enjoyment to the game, because as it is right now the randomly generated maps are kind of similar and the prebuilt maps are just that... Prebuilt. If there were custom maps it would add a lot more substance to the game, because each map would be unique, and because of that every round that you play will be a lot more different and it would keep the game from becoming boring once you've done all the campaign and played the hell out of the prebuilt maps.

I remember seeing the look on the lead coders face when I asked him about this. It's a massive amount of work here to do an official map editor, but we will see what we can do to unofficially support you guys if you get what i mean.

Well... An editor already exists, as you can see, an editor with a better interface would still be nice. What we need now would be a way to implement them to the game without replacing any of the official maps.

Yeah we only need help with this, because nobody want to replace official maps. I think official maps are great

Thats all!, we need just that!
A way to download custom maps ingame before the match starts (like worms 2D games) is more than enough...we have editors already...

Nah, I doubt multiplayer support would be included too. Adding a category at the bottom for custom mas is easy (well, relatively anyway). Adding a means of playing them against people without them is not.

Well a way to implement maps into WUM without replacing maps would be nice. As I recall in W3D it was just a matter of editing scripts. Even though you can edit a map, you kind of have to wing it with the textures (unless you have W4, which I don't or W3D,which I do) and simply asking someone who has W4 or W3D for the themes or bundles folders is illegal. So you have to own either W3D or W4 to edit the maps. Also the editor can do the height maps for the game.It is a long strenuous task to make a map and the editor does not have an undo command. It would be great if you could make a tool or something allowing us to put the maps into the game without replacing the map.

Beta version 2.3 of Editor have Undo/Redo function...

Also support WUM textures...
So only problem in Add map to Game....

I think that once the game will be updated and that it will allow players to save maps from the random generator, it won't be so hard to add custom maps made with the map editor, still Team17 should update the game

I have run into a problem and I would like to issue it (sorry for bumping this thread!) Alex Bond's W3D/W4 editor doesn't like the new XOM. files and texture files, So I can't get any of the textures for worms 4. I have W3D on Mac and using it works fine. I was wondering if there is a way around this. that isn't pirating W4 textures. >.> you can't really buy the game anymore, and WUM uses its textures, so, I'm kinda set back on what to do, cause I want to use the W4 textures.

2 questions:

Where can I get the map editor? Is there a thread on here?

Also, in WUM, is it possible to make it so W3D maps (such as Worm and the Beanstalk, Beefcake Breakfast Brawl, etc) are available for multiplayer?

No, you need to register on here (http://worms3d-portal.com/portal.php?download&sid=4cdf67f21cc98c27f0de9d3054ad1c38) and download the program from their site.

With the editor you should be able to.

So we're stuck with the classic maps and future DLC ones? Oh well.
Also, why is Bill "Ex Staff"? D:

Hmm I was wondering of some stuff recently, but if we have to replace an existing map from the game to add a custom map to WUM, why not doing it with a generated landscape saved map ???

because it's saving the seed, not the landscape itself

Well that's what I was thinking but I wanted a confirmation, the solution seemed too easy :(
