Team17 is releasing old 3D Worms game with enhancements which is a good idea but then why not also release old 2D Worms games as well with new stuff like better graphics, more weapons, sounds, ranking system etc? This is an old question but it becomes even more valid now because if this can happen with Worms 3D then why not with Worms 2D?

What's there to improve? Not many people properly care about the missions, there's nothing to improve sound-wise except maybe the music, changing the graphics would get as many 'this sucks' as it would 'this is way better', the game already has enough weapons as it is, and if leaderboards was actually a high priority Deadcode and CyberShadow would've put it back in by now.

Worms Ultimate Mayhem looks about as different from Worms 4 as Worms Reloaded does from Worms Armageddon (just some different graphics, weapons, ranking system, etc).

Personally I really like Worms Reloaded and, except for some bugs, I think Team17 did a really good job.

Worms Armageddon is still played and updated, so there is no need to remake it.

Should they change the graphics?

I think not: first of all because it still looks good and second because you can't remake a game without changing it.

And if Worms Armageddon is THE perfect Worms game, why should you change it?

If you look for what is planning to be done in the WA4, you'll know why!

If t17 would take all, or the most important (like re-connection trough a replay) features that are planned for WA4, among some graphics improvements which wouldn't need to change (at least much) the physics of WA, as an official release on steam, not only the current WA players would love it - because it would be an official sign of care from t17; a recognition of all the goods that they still see from the game; a hope of more attention and continuation future for the game; etc - but, mainly, would bring a lot of new players for the game only due to the publicity that a new release can deliver. And there is a very good reason to make it: all the different communities and competitions that are already implemented for the WA!

How can a current WA player enjoy to play WR with screen shots instead of replays? And what are the on-line competitions for WR? ESL? rofl
How can t17 was serious releasing a joke as the in-game tool "leaderboards"? Sorry for the "joke" but, can you even compare it with others on-line competitions for WA? Is t17 aware of it?

The result is: WA is still very well alive after 11 years and still has a good future and WR is almost dead after 1 year! Why? IMO not only because of the incredible amount of bugs that WR had but, mainly, due to the difference of quality in the physics of both games AND because DC and CS really have listen the community when they made the patches. T17 should be aware that, probably a big part of the players that have tried WR were already worms series fans so, they can only become disappointed when the main highlights for updates are new hats, graves and themes.

I personally don't like Steam, but I hope it would increase the popularity of WA, as well as new players, clans, communities and many more. If Team17 ever releases it on Steam, I'd buy it again of course, but also I'd like to be able to launch it without the need to run Steam:o My last experience with Steam wasn't smooth at all, it lagged for me (it was a long time ago, I know), so not sure. Don't forget about external programs also, because I'm not sure how would they work together.
Also, I'm very unsure that Team17 will take the 4.0 development in its own hands, it's all up to Deadcode and CyberShadow. So let's hope for a good future of WA

Not needed really, hasn't Worms Reloaded got a crap load of content now.

Worms Reloaded has less (worse) features than W:A.

Everything else - from graphics over physics to gameplay - is still a personal opinion and is ridiculously taken into consideration over and over again.

There is a recent similar topic on the W:A forum: What's Team17's relationship with WA?

and if leaderboards was actually a high priority Deadcode and CyberShadow would've put it back in by now.As I've mentioned before, correctly implementing ranks and associated features is very difficult considering the technical limitations of the W:A 3.x codebase, its network protocols, and how much the community has shifted since the game's release (e.g. appearance of schemes with rules or where the goal is not to remain the last team alive). So, reintroduction of competitive online play features has been left for 4.0.
