View Full Version : Still so many bugs

While T17 have released so many patches I can't understand why so many bugs remain.

1 Release the sheep, no obstruction ahead and it immediately jumps backwards and away from the target.

2 Fire the bazooka and while still holding down the space key the missile just blows up in your face instantly. Throw a grenade and it drops at your feet. Use the blowtorch and it lasts a split second. I believe these are all the same problem just with different weapons.

3 Fire punch a guy who's right on top of you and although the 30 damage number appears, no change in the opponents health.

4 It's happened to me a few times where the opponent places a turret and moves away...everything fine so far. As the turn changes to me, the turret and the opponent that placed the turret are nowhere near where they were when the turn ended. They've hyperspaced to another location.

5 Sound resets to zero every time I start the game...intro is loud enough to wake my neighbours though. This sound problem must surely be easy to rectify and since it isn't, I doubt if any effort is being made on the more difficult ones that ruin the gameplay.

6 Ropes stick to terrain, very common

7 One moves a worm into a tight gap and it gets stuck

8 Occasionally I've been able to fire a bazooka through thin parts of the tarrain which clearly have no gap

It's way overdue these bugs were sorted. This game is simple and was perfected a decade ago so it's unforgivable that since it's release there have been so many problems. The only hassles fixed so far have been the Steam connectivity.

Will this game ever be fixed or is the joy of stupid hats meant to placate us ripped off players.

There have been a LOT more important bugs fixed. These are remaining, rather insignificant ones no one really cares about, apart from the intro sounds :p

I've never seen number 1 and 3 and I played this game for a long time, so if they exist at all they've got to occur very rarely.

Number 2 was annoying but I haven't seen this since the second patch, it also never happened to me when I used blowtorches. Are you sure it's not a problem concerning your space key?

Number 4 is a simple desyinc issue. It might occur if your or your opponent's connection is poor, it's not fixable.

1 Release the sheep, no obstruction ahead and it immediately jumps backwards and away from the target.
This is most likely due to the terrain.
Just use a Super Sheep instead.

2 Fire the bazooka and while still holding down the space key the missile just blows up in your face instantly. Throw a grenade and it drops at your feet. Use the blowtorch and it lasts a split second. I believe these are all the same problem just with dofferent weapons.
Like with Nr. 1:this is due to the terrain.
You are just firing the Bazooka straight into some wall, object, the floor or anything else. Same with the Grenade.

3 Fire punch a guy who's right on top of you and although the 30 damage number appears, no change in the opponents health.
Never seen this before.

4 It's happened to me a few times where the opponent places a turret and moves away...everything fine so far. As the turn changes to me, the turret and the opponent that placed the turret are nowhere near where they were when the turn ended. They've hyperspaced to another location.
Like Thurbo said: due to a bad connection.

5 Sound resets to zero every time I start the game...intro is loud enough to wake my neighbours though. This sound problem must surely be easy to rectify and since it isn't, I doubt if any effort is being made on the more difficult ones that ruin the gameplay.
The sound settings take effect as soon as you choose your profile. You'll hear the intro sound before you've loaded your profile. Deal with it.
I just didn't understand what you were rambling about gameplay...?

They've fixed way more then that.

Will this game ever be fixed or is the joy of stupid hats meant to placate us ripped off players.
That's just nonsense. I'm not even going to give you a serious response to that.

Please, come up with some good arguments next time.

If they've fixed a lot more than just these then it sounds like the game was hardly ready for release

I've never seen number 1 and 3 and I played this game for a long time, so if they exist at all they've got to occur very rarely.

Try playing it a bit more then

Number 2 was annoying but I haven't seen this since the second patch, it also never happened to me as I used blowtorches. Are you sure it's not a problem concerning your space key?

It happens to me or my opponent about twice a week, unless there's a lot of keyboards with faulty space keys out there (that only shows up on reloaded) then I'm very certain it's the game

Number 4 is a simple desyinc issue. It might occur if your or your opponent's connection is poor, it's not fixable.

Convenient, might be poor connection so therefore unfixable.

This is most likely due to the terrain.
Just use a Super Sheep instead.

Ummm yeah right...you mean the Super Sheep I almost certainly don't have????? Firstly, did you read the part about "NO OBSTRUCTION AHEAD OF IT", secondly are you suggesting that because there's a problem I must work around it?

2 Fire the bazooka and while still holding down the space key the missile just blows up in your face instantly. Throw a grenade and it drops at your feet. Use the blowtorch and it lasts a split second. I believe these are all the same problem just with dofferent weapons.

You are just firing the Bazooka straight into some wall, object, the floor or anything else. Same with the Grenade.

And that explains the blowtorch how ?

3 Fire punch a guy who's right on top of you and although the 30 damage number appears, no change in the opponents health.
Never seen this before.

And therefore doesn't exist?

4 It's happened to me a few times where the opponent places a turret and moves away...everything fine so far. As the turn changes to me, the turret and the opponent that placed the turret are nowhere near where they were when the turn ended. They've hyperspaced to another location.
Like Thurbo said: due to a bad connection.

Like I said...very convenient. Despite mo prolonged "waiting for player" message while the turn changes, it must be something neither Steam or T17 are responsible for.

5 Sound resets to zero every time I start the game...intro is loud enough to wake my neighbours though. This sound problem must surely be easy to rectify and since it isn't, I doubt if any effort is being made on the more difficult ones that ruin the gameplay.

I just didn't understand what you were rambling about gameplay...?

Yes the sound effects do take effect after selecting my profile, it's just that they are never how I left them...they always reset to zero...does this help you understand?

I was trying to give credit where it's due but since you draw my attention to the numerous other issues it hardly seems like it was ready for release then

Will this game ever be fixed or is the joy of stupid hats meant to placate us ripped off players.
That's just nonsense. I'm not even going to give you a serious response to that.

Even a funny response would suffice

There was obstruction. Maybe you didn't see it though

2 Fire the bazooka and while still holding down the space key the missile just blows up in your face instantly. Throw a grenade and it drops at your feet. Use the blowtorch and it lasts a split second. I believe these are all the same problem just with dofferent weapons.

Blowtorch:
Terrain. I don't know how, but I do know it's due to terrain.

3 Fire punch a guy who's right on top of you and although the 30 damage number appears, no change in the opponents health.
Never seen this before.

I never said that. I just couldn't give a fair comment to that, since I never saw it.

4 It's happened to me a few times where the opponent places a turret and moves away...everything fine so far. As the turn changes to me, the turret and the opponent that placed the turret are nowhere near where they were when the turn ended. They've hyperspaced to another location.

The long "waiting for players"-thing: Agreed. Certainly annoying.
I am not going to respond any further to the issue, since I'm not sure enough of the answer.

5 Sound resets to zero every time I start the game...intro is loud enough to wake my neighbours though. This sound problem must surely be easy to rectify and since it isn't, I doubt if any effort is being made on the more difficult ones that ruin the gameplay.

Yes it does, thank you.
Also, never heard of this before. Might want to check the Steam forums on that.

Maybe it wasn't ready.
I gotta say there seems to be less bug-care nowadays since developers can update their games frequently.
(Though, the Teamsters are doing their best to fix it)

Great ;) (I guess)

And that explains the blowtorch how ?[/B]
Blowtorch:
Terrain. I don't know how, but I do know it's due to terrain.

Depends on the angle of the blowtorch and the landscape. Workaround is simple: If you are trying to dig into a steep mountain, adjust the angle of the blowtorch so that it is only close the max angle. Never set it to the max down angle if the landscape goes steeply upwards, it causes the torch to stop, indeed.

Thanks for the tip, that's very helpful, I will try that in future.

Any ideas on
Ropes sticking to the terrain (along the rope)
&
One moves a worm into a tight gap and it gets stuck (jumping sometimes gets it out) I've never seen this happen on any other version of worms I've played.

Thanks again...cheers

I've seen it happen in the 3D games, and it happens in Worms Armageddon too. In WA you can use the trick to make a one-way gate on a map, where a worm can walk in but not out.

The blowtorch thing happens in WA as well.

I just hope the next update fixes more serious bugs, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjB6bEodI6U

That's not quite the same bug though.

Only because it's not quite the same game. The scenario is the same: the blowtorch (usually angled down) digs away the land the worm is standing on, so the blowtorch stops and the worm drops.

5 Sound resets to zero every time I start the game...intro is loud enough to wake my neighbours though. This sound problem must surely be easy to rectify and since it isn't, I doubt if any effort is being made on the more difficult ones that ruin the gameplay.

Looks like this has now been fixed. Also the intro has been changed to something less earshattering...thanks T17

Looks like the worm walking into a tight gap and getting stuck has been fixed too

Still too early to say about the other issues, but will post once I know

Edit...Bugs I've still found

1 Sticky rope bug still there (very common and very annoying)

2 Instant exploding bazooka & split second blowtorch still there

3 Discovered a jackhammer exploit

4 Sheep going wrong way still there

5 Bazooka still can shoot through thin terrain. It seems that this happens only if at least 1 side of the terrain is part of a crater created by a previous explosion

6 After a turn ends, the next person's screen scrolls vertically or horozontally. One can't stop it. If you move the mouse back the screen does move in that direction but immediately scrolls back when one stops moving the mouse. Often this screen scrolling is accompanied by the worm walking automatically in the same direction as the screen scroll. (So far I've seen the scroll go up or right only) This isn't a common bug and I thought it just happened to me but I've had my opponents complain of the same problem. If one starts a new game the scroll\walk problem persists. One has to exit Worms and start it again.

7 Firepunch doesnt damage opponent who's right next to or on top of you despite the opponents worm moving

8 Opponent uses bunker buster. From then on the sound of it grinding through the landscape comes through my speakers. This didn't happen before but lately it's happened a few times.

9 I remove the names and health numbers to see the edge of the terrain better and it gets removed from my opponents screen too. (Skorpion or scorpion was convinced I was hacking him or cheating)

10 Have the bunker buster selected, open chat window...chat, when you close the chat window the bunker buster gets deployed automatically and exactly where you didn't want it. Obviously this is easily avoided by not selecting the B-B before opening the chat but once you've accidentally opened the chat with it selected, there's no way out of it.

SO MANY PATCHES.....SO FEW FIXES (most of these bugs have been there right from the start). I would happily pay for this game again if it were relatively bug free...come on T17 fix it please...it's no fun losing a game because of a bug, nor is it satisfying winning because of one.
