Is it possible to change the subject of a thread after you start it?

The reason for this question is because I like to create Map Dev threads for our MnP maps and then when they are released I would rather just edit the first and last posts along with the subject line to announce the map as released.

As it is now, I usually make ANOTHER thread... to annouce the release.

In the forum view (so when you're viewing a forum's list of threads), double click on the thread title. That usually works.

LIES. It works for you because you're a mod, but for the average user there is no way to edit thread titles.

You used to be able to edit the title before anyone else posts in the thread, I imagine that's still the case

I'm pretty sure that does work for regular users - obviously only on threads you've created...

Did you try it on a recently-created thread? Could well be time-limited.

It works if I start a new thread, apparently. Not sure if it's actually timed or only works if no one has replied to it yet.

Just edit the first post of the thread then go to do an "Advanced Edit" you can edit the thread title there >.>

I think it's time limited. I have no idea what said limit is.

That, for some reason, doesn't really update the thread title. It's updated the post title, but the actual thread title stays the same.

Yeah unfortunately that doesn't really help me with my specific issue. I guess I will just have to continue to create a "release" thread and a "dev" thread seperately.

Relatedly, why do you make separate dev threads? I mean, why not just have one big thread for all your developing ..log ...stuff?

To keep it all well organized, of course.

That's the general idea... I am probably going to start keeping everything in one thread for each map (as opposed to two threads per map). It would be easier on my end. I was just hoping for a way to alert people to the release status via the subject line, but I guess I can't do that.

I'd suggest using only the first post to publish new screenshots and to announce the release.
That way, you can use the remainder of the thread for discussion and can always point to the first post whenever there's something newsworthy to be added.
You would then also only need one thread per map project.

To reduce the effort and spamming even more, you could even redirect people from one of the sub-forums (WA and WR) to the map thread in the other.
That way, you would only need to post news, discuss and answer questions in one thread.
(It would probably require a mod to lock the thread after the first post with the redirect.)

Yah that might help... as it is, I have little mini conversations going in 3 boards.
