Hi there,

we`ve been playing worms since the first one and especially Worldparty..
with this thread we want to discuss the new Part - Reloaded.

Dear Team 17,
first of all, returning to 2D Worms was the best decision EVER .. it just looks and plays great again! .. the graphics are done lovely and look great also on big screens! The Worms look just like they should, the customization with heads colour and victorydances is a cool feature. Also the sounds and voices are done nicely again. And HEY a working multiplayer from the start on made us smile:D .. so all in all a very good first impression.

We`ve been playing and testing Reloaded for quite a while now and found out the GOOD the BAD and the MISSING in our opinion.

The GOOD:
-New weapons are a lot of fun:
---termites are cool (darksider award)
---and the ferrets countering them also
---sentryguns are just a great addition
---resurrection is fun
---bunkerbusters good but not perfect
---gaspump is evil
---buffalo of lies is ... good for digging ;)
---worship .. well ok
---steal is ok
---invisibility is ok
---marked for death is ok BUT (look the BAD)
---magnets can be very useful
-New animations/customization of Worms:
---screaming Worms are just a wonderful idea
---Custom worms are brilliant (MORE OPTIONS PLEASE)
-Multiplayer works good
-Singleplayer is fun
-Shop is a nice idea but it needs lots more things to buy

The BAD:
-Weapons:
---Firepunch and Dragonball are absolutly underpowered!!!!
---not enough close combat weapons (see "Whats MISSING")
---Banana bomb is not like it used to be somehow
---Petrolbomb is kind of useless / underpowered
---the concrete donkey looks stupid
-Movement:
---the jumpsystem sucks sometimes, some small jumps are not possible

Whats MISSING:

-Movement:
---give us back the small BACKJUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

-Options:
---More match options please, such as weapon strenght, blood (WWP), supersheep = aquasheep, players take turns to place their worms themselves before match begins

-Tools:
---blue crates are somehow boring in Reloaded, where is Low Gravity, Double Damage (better than Marked for death), fastwalk, Cratespy!?, Lasersight has to be IN a box, Choose worm has to be IN a box!!, Double turntime

-Weapons:
---please give the Aquasheep a comeback with its scubagear!!!
---the new FIREgraphics with the smoke are awesome but where is the FLAMETHROWER to enjoy it even more !!??!
---where is the Minestrike?
---we miss the Old woman
---Longbow rocks
---my brother also wants the pigeon back ;)
---whats with the french sheeps from the sky ?? great and rare fun

-Closecombat weapons:
---the axe from wwp was great
---MINIGUN!!!
---Flamethrower as mentioned above

-Animations:
---where is the beloved Mudeater Worm ????
---maybe just some more ...
---a resurrected (Lightningstrike) Worm should look different (maybe zombie or sick .. hey or skeletton!?) .. yeah I know, worms don`t have bones

so far .. next time we talk about our NEW WEAPONS and TOOLS wishlist ;)

greetings,

prentice.mungo and dianoner

PS: where is the Florence Nightingale hot waterbottle award ??!

The GOOD:
---buffalo of lies is ... good for digging ;)

I'd say it's totally useless. Since it's called to be a super weapon I use it every time I collect it, what usually is the biggest mistake in the whole match...

---marked for death is ok BUT (look the BAD)

But what? Can't find it in "The BAD" :p

The BAD:

---Banana bomb is not like it used to be somehow

Definitely underpowered and risky.

---Petrolbomb is kind of useless / underpowered

Yes, I only use it to not to hurt my worm with a big bazooka explosion while I don't want to waste my firepunch.

---the concrete donkey looks stupid

Donkeys always look stupid. As if that wasn't enough they are stubborn as hell ): /

---the jumpsystem sucks sometimes, some small jumps are not possible

I don't see a problem there, works pretty good for me.

Whats MISSING:
---More match options please, such as weapon strenght, blood (WWP),

Why not leave Worms as harmless as it currently is?

---where is the beloved Mudeater Worm ????

Still there.
(Know what guys? In Worms: Battle Islands They eat their eyebrows instead of mud :D)

---a resurrected (Lightningstrike) Worm should look different (maybe zombie or sick .. hey or skeletton!?)

Great idea, actually. I'd like it.

.. yeah I know, worms don`t have bones

The "Worms" worms do have bones:

It's the Mad Cow weapon, but it goes for longer. What's not to like?

Hey thx for reply,

-Mudeater is in the game ? .. hm didn`t see him yet :(

-the Donkey graphic doesnīt fit in my opinion but thats .. unnessacary for now

-marked for death is fun but can be tricked so easily by doing selfdamage .. like falldamage - I would love to see doubledamage in a box again

-the banana has always been risky but the knew banana isnīt worth the risk (little like the buffalo of lies .. most worms get hit once and then bounce away )

-the jumpsystem misses the small BACKJUMP !!! .. we used it sooo much

-the "blood" in wwp was just a little cartoonblood .. but I still miss the variety of options included in the other worms games

-I remember that skeleton worm and of course the TEAMICON .. that reminds me of .. "where are the TEAMICONS ?"

-I`d love to see bigger teams again .. maybe 6-8 worms as an option

... think everyone misses something and hopefully TEAM17 will include some again in future updates

The blood I don't miss at all, to be honest. Marked for Death can be very strategic if used properly. The Banana is not as bouncy and is slightly underpowered. Agree on the severe underpowered-ness of the close-combat weapons. Small backjump/backflip would be nice along with the vertical jump. The Donkey has looked like that since Worms 3D so I'm used to it. The fire needs lots of tweaking, it's why the Napalm and Petrol Bomb are not worth using. The Aqua Sheep will only work on landscapes where there is no terrain underwater - I got to fire a homing missile down in Mission 31 and it worked flawlessly. The parachute should be selectable while on the rope along with many of the other weapons that could be used in Armageddon.

This would be a perfect weapon arrangement, IMO:

Note #1: The dud bomb would be a Race-based scheme exclusive "weapon" which would take the role of the zero-powered banana - all it would do is fall, go past its fuse and leave you with some extra retreat time when you need it.
Note #2: IE stands for Instant effect weapons which can only be acquired from a crate and provide you with their useful effects while your turn lasts, much like in W2/Armageddon/WP/some of the 3D games?.
Note #3: Maybe replace the Pigeon with a cooler bird weapon, like a Falcon or something? Falcons are famous for being the fastest birds and being able to make sharp turns while flying.
Note #4: I realise that the Baseball Bat is missing, I didn't find where I could fit it. :'(

Girder Strike

I guess it squashes worms then? :p

I meant the Bridge Kit/Girder Starter Kit...

Aqua Sheep would be kind of pointless now that terrain continues under water level to the bottom of the screen.

I just seem to be damn unlucky. I never managed to damage a worm more than 25 in a ranked match, because of how it works...
It's also stupid how it just runs over worms instead of hurting them, just because there's a gentle slope.

-the banana has always been risky but the knew banana isnīt worth the risk (little like the buffalo of lies .. most worms get hit once and then bounce away )

yep.

But a pigeon is silly! That's just what we need for a game like Worms.

The Buffalo has been useful for me almost exactly once. So, a fluke. :p It really goes out of its way to be as useless as possible. Which, in a way, might just be appropriate. :p

Pretty complete review, I think. I'd have to agree with most everything there, except that I also find termites and ferrets to be pretty dumb. And I miss the Donkey being as disgustingly overpowered as it used to be.

Well, dumb... perhaps you'll hardly find any situations for what they'd be really useful, but at least they don't fail constantly in a stupid way like the buffalo :)

hi xinos, hi forum,

that's not entirely true. played a "closed" level against my brother yesterday and the water was rising in sudden death mode. water was near to the ceiling and both last worms under it.. even though there was terrain underwater the only solution to win would have been the aquasheep.
without it.. draw. :(

ok.. how often does this happen..? but it does. and an aquasheep is by the way a really cool thing :)

Doesn't the homing missile still work after shooting it underwater? Still probably not very useful considering terrain no longer disappears under water...

It still does.

ALso, several other weapons now have kind of an underwater capability, when they detonate shortly (<1s) after going under water, either by fuse setting (grenades, banana) or impact on submerged terrain (bazooka).
(In the case of the banana, AFAIR, its clusters even seem to be fully subaqua-capable, as long as the banana itself detonates within that short time frame.)

It's still useful on any (custom) terrains that have no continuous land mass at the bottom, i.e. floating pieces of land or double-layered caves (T17 gamestyle), after they are submerged.

(Edit): The underwater behaviour of weapons makes no sense at all imo, and besides it's totally confusing.

Let's see: All shells (airstrikes, bazookas, missiles) explode underwater, grenades don't, the only one that does is the banana. Additionally, dynamite explodes underwater. The fuse wouldn't go out.

What are you talking?

I just described the weapons that I found out CAN work underwater under certain circumstances.
That is, a very short time (<1s) after they've submerged, they can still detonate, depending on their respective trigger (fuse or impact).

That means, if your projectiles travel at a high velocity, they can travel quite some distance within that small amount of time before detonation, which you wouldn't expect.
After that, they'll just fizzle and drown like they previously did in WA, immediately when touching the the water surface.

I don't see grenades exploding underwater. I tried it several times now and it just doesn't work, only for the banana :p

hey people, may i add

bad:
-sometimes the zoom doesn't work anymore in multiplayer

-sometimes the chat doesn't work anymore in mp.. also it would be much better to have an on-screen chat ! (my opinion)

-the banana sucks, in wwp it was unpredictable but deadly, now it's the same but kinda harmless

-the firepunch is just 5% more powerful than the prod, why? support close combat more (axe, minigun..)

-place worms is definitly missing, the worm placement is sometimes way too random! manually placing worms would be so good..

good:

-lightning strike is awesome! what a cool new feature.. especially for the turrets and magnets

-the updates make the game work better, mp

-the column-maps are really cool

okay.. so far. if reloaded keeps getting updated and improved, it will come close to wwp one day.

We expected a "worms armageddon" with new graphics and new weapons right? but they removed too many things like everyone said. So everyone is just complaining and going back to armageddon.
I don't understand what Team 17 is trying to do

No, we were expecting a decent port of W2A with less bugs; with a nicer user interface and controls optimised for PC. When we take into account that they worked on it for a year or so, it's kind of disappointing that they couldn't even do that.

I guess some of you were expecting a worthy sequel of the 2D games on PC - sorry guise, this isn't it. People who enjoyed the original Armageddon for what it was should stick with it.

You mean the original Armageddon plus the beta updates, right? The "original" Armageddon was peanuts compeared to what it is now. I don't really believe they keep updating W:R thus it becomes as great as the current Armageddon but you never know after all.

If you happen to have Win98 then install WA on it without beta updates or patches, you'll find it's better than WR 1.0 (at least I do). But don't judge online multiplayer, will ya?
