View Full Version : A crash!!! It actually crashed on me!

Recently I've been replaying through all the single player missions, trying to get gold on them all. There's only 1 left and that's "The Drop zone".

After playing through it twice (first attempt failed, second attempt succeeded) when I was returned to the front end / mission select screen, I was presented with this visual error:

http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/7668/dropzoneerror.png

As you can see, the mission landscape image was not loaded. I then scrolled through all the missions and there were others that had not be loaded either.
Anyway, I ignored this behaviour and when back to start the mission again. However, as soon as I clicked the start mission button, the game crashed to desktop saying there was a fatal error, check the errorlog for details.
That errorlog has been attached to this post but I did check up on the troubleshooting guide and saw this:

W:A quits to the desktop when I try to start a match
This problem appears when W:A fails to read a file from the CD. Check the condition of your W:A CD. Creating a CD image may help.

Could this have been my problem? This is the first time this has happened though and I haven't had any other crashes with the game, also today I was playing the game straight for 3 hours.

Hmm, well, looks like W:A ran out of video RAM or something like that. Crashes like these happen occasionally. I'm not really sure what can be done about them, considering they're not reproducible. Maybe it's due to a resource leak. I wouldn't worry about it unless it started happening often.

Another crash occured!
Same mission but this time it happened right after exiting the mission - before seeing the front end / mission select screen.
Although you said these happen occasionally, I've attached the new log in the hope that it may show something different and something helpful.

Got a strange crash, everytime I scroll a bar too much (like on level select or soundbanks ...) the game crashes back to desktop.

I can play just fine, but its annoying that I can't chosse any maps, soundbanks ect. anymore :( (never had a crash problem before, this one first happened a month ago or so)

Can you post the CRASH.DMP as well?

Had to zip it, was too big (113 KB)

Not really sure why'd this be happening. Are you using any unusual software which might be causing this?

I actually have an issue with scrolling on such fields as well but for me it just seriously kills frame rate.

I am using an ATI Radeon 4850 (I think) but back when I had an Nvidia card, I did not have any problems like this, just the overall slowed down front end which was of course fixed with that registry tweak.
Other than changing graphics cards, I had not made any other change to my computer so I would assume that this problem is purely down to my graphics card and / or its drivers.

Sigh, ATI...

Maybe the ATI Tray Tools... didn't crash when I turned them and Creative Volume Control off. But never had any Problems before, dunno...

Perhaps it's a problem in a recent version?

I updated the ATI Tools after I had some crashes in Worms. I guess I'll just turn them off when I wanna play WA ;).

Wasn't the Tray Tools... it happens randomly, sometimes Worms runs normal and I can pick a map and sometimes it crashes.

EDIT: 3.6.30 Fixed it.
