Hey there, "wormers"!

What do you think about the idea of an all-new Worms game entirely based on the World War 2?

I think that any war game should have something to do with the WW2 and think about everything we could do during missions, campaigns and challenges!

Cheers!

Yes, that's exactly what the games industry needs: more WW2 games!

And it's exactly what the Worms series needs too! I'm fed up of this "imaginary wars" and "cartoony setting" rubbish, I want to see my squishy old-woman-launching invertebrates in real, serious scenarios! I want to see them throw bananas in the face of the enemy and reflect over how it represents the millions of souls lost in the real battles! And imagine all the holocaust jokes it could make!

Can we add in hampsters into this too?

Actually, Worms probably needs to get back into its slightly more serious and less cartoony times. Maybe not WW2, but somehow war-related.

Because you can't pretend that this doesn't look totally badass and awesome:

The old games had a particular unique feel that I wouldn't be able to describe, which you cannot find in newer games such as Worms 4 Mayhem and Worms Reloaded. Worms 4 had ridiculously silly missions with a really silly storyline attempt, Worms Reloaded doesn't have missions at all, and the most recent game which gave me that unique feel was Worms 3D, especially its first mission.

Time. You mean time. Worms1 and its versions were the only games to be in any way serious. Then the art style changed completely (read: worms became more than 8 pixels in size) and humorous soundbanks came in bulk*. Top that off with the Worms2 intro videos.

WA and WWP's brief mission descriptions don't count. You'd have to igore the etire rest of the game if you thought that made them serious.

*At least, as I recall. I haven't played the first generation Worms in some very long time.

Get "Worms: Open Warfare 2" then, it includes themes like World War 2 (http://www.tothegame.com/res/game/6549/feature/2007-05-10/screen2_large.jpg), as well as World War 1 (http://www.dignews.com/legacy/screenshots/worms_open_2_psp_03.jpg), Gulf War (http://www.thq.com/resources/screenshots/large/5e1ed17c45eee459cc20a1406d7206de.jpg) and Cold War (http://pspmedia.ign.com/psp/image/article/785/785994/worms-open-warfare-2-20070507095653524_640w.jpg) (Okay, Cold War actually wasn't a real war but still)

I think this "feeling" was the awesome humourous contrast in the series. The game kinda tried to be serious with its common serious atmosphere but failed intentionally through being about cute worms killing each other using silly weapons.

Obviously, I was talking about a PC Worms game.

It could be either 2D or 3D. I think 3D would be more exciting, though.

And yes, I do know the WW2 is always a sensitive and a taboo issue and I'm aware that it wouldn't be a game I'd recommend small children to play, only because of this war's nature.

And I've never said this game should parody the Jewish people who were victims of the Holocaust. But it could parody Hitler, the nazis and the neo-nazis who spread their ideas nowadays.

Think about it. It would be quite a game!

A lot of new weapons could be added like manning a kamikaze plane, a ship that destroys anything who is at the coast of maps, air gunning( a fighter machine-gunning ground enemies), and a lot of things.

How was that obvious?

Anyway, I think the way they did it in OW2 is best they'd ever do it. Though worms is a parody on wars, it would probably not become that in-depht.

Yeah. Quite a bloody boring game.
Oh look, it behaves the same way as other worms games with slight variations on the themes and weapons. In fact, you only get a couple of terrain themes now, people! No cheese moon for you!
Oh, and the grenades are duller coloured.

SOUNDS LIKE A WINNER FOLKS

That, ironically, is what every Worms sequel has been recently. What this stale (yes, I said it. It's getting stale.) series needs is to innovate in some way or another, IMO.
