Hey! Hey! Hey!

There's been a lot of arguing on this board for the last couple weeks. Can't we all just sit down in our respective Japanese dojos and meditate on what really matters here? That is, firing a rather explosive bazooka shell into your enemy's stupid face?!

Well you can finally do so, as Meat & Potatoes proudly presents its first post-release map for Worms Reloaded and 7th in the line for custom Worms Armageddon maps: Family Feud. With nearly a year of on and off development, this one has been finally been released for both platforms and we certainly hope it finds a new home on your computer.

Get ready to choose a side and battle it out in this Bng style custom map centering around a lush Japanese garden in the middle of two opposing dojos - the Samurais and the Ninjas.

Note for Worms Reloaded players: Players 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 will be spawned on the same team and in the same dojo as long as you choose matching colors for them.

Go get the Worms Reloaded version at http://www.mnpp.net/?p=47

What's next on MnPs Worms-related calendar? You'll be happy to know that we have begun production on two new maps - Alcatraz (working title) and Midnight Oil - details on which will be released in the coming few weeks at mnpp.net (http://www.mnpp.net)and on this forum.

BIG thanks goes out to everyone who has contributed to the development of this map at this thread (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38235). Special thanks goes out to Bonz and D Wormkill for personally beta testing this map. Please let us know what you think after you've had a couple plays on the newest MnP map, Family Feud.

It's pretty rad, can't wait to try it online.

That said, the readme makes mention of an accompanying scheme, is that still in the works or did I miss that somewhere? :p

At first l was expecting something from the game show, :D l hadn't realized you changed the name from way back when l looked outside of the 'online orgy'

Hey sup Roboslob! Long time no see. Yeah it was originally just called "Dojos" but it needed a more unique name. So here we are!

@MtlAngelus: There is no scheme file included for the Worms Reloaded version. I have changed the link to make sure it goes to the WR version in this thread.

Doesnt work.
Works perfectly fine for me.

E.g.:
Team 1: green
Team 2: blue
Team 3: green
Team 4: blue

E.g.:
Team 1: green
Team 2: blue
Team 3: green
Team 4: blue

Tried it 3 times and each team never spawned in the same dojo...

BIG IMPORTANT PIECE OF INFORMATION:

If you are spawning ANY AI in this map, it's gonna mess up the spawn points. Annoyingly, the teams are NOT decided by color (like they should be), but instead decided by the PLAYER NUMBER (1, 2, 3, or 4). If you place AI in a match in this map, or ANY map, AI teams are ALWAYS placed at the bottom of the list. This is the way the game is designed, and I have no control over that. Therefore, it is IMPOSSIBLE to play two human teams vs 2 AI teams. You CAN play 1 human vs 1 AI easily enough. But until the teams are not auto-sorted, it won't work in this map, or any other.

Thanks Zero! Yeah actually the soldat maps were just me and I made them ages ago. They are on the website and rely heavily on custom gfx. Actually, I am not even sure if they still work on the new versions of Soldat.

Well that's good to know! There was a point where I had to make a decision: get back into the Soldat map-making business, or Worms.

I chose Worms. :D

Good choice. Worms is superior to any today's and past's game.

Well apart from Starcraft :p

Oh please let's not talk about Starcraft!!! :)

Ouch!

Tried it online today with my friend and for some reason it made the game run like a dog.

It could be my flaky internet connection, but it was a real shame, because this is a beautiful map. Well done on creating this. i hope it's the first of many!

Cheers

Ouch!

It may be. I don't really know why that might be happening for you. Bonz and I played a couple maps today (complete with backgrounds) and it ran wonderfully.

But thanks anyway for the compliments! Actually this is the 7th of many. You can see all of its predecessors for Worms Armageddon here (http://www.mnpp.net/wp/?cat=3)and all of our custom maps for Worms Reloaded here (http://www.mnpp.net/wp/?cat=7).

To see what we are currently working on, check out this post (http://www.mnpp.net/?p=170).

Why not make a copy of the map but with team positions changed then? For those 2 plr vs 2 cpu matches?

Oh... you mean one that ONLY works as Co-op. Not a bad idea. It's on my todo list.

Where's the problem with the A.I. teams anyway? I played several games with A.I. players on this map and it worked fine every time.

They are talking about how if you have you and another human buddy in a hotseat game, you won't be able to take on two AI players on the other Dojo. Not without me creating a special Coop version. This is because when adding teams to a game, the game ALWAYS sorts the teams with humans on the top, regardless of whether you picked them first or not. It should be changed.

Hello, dear Meat & Potatoes folks,

Loving your work and all, I've been thinking about if the MnP maps might fit into one other game than Worms Reloaded and Armageddon...

...Worms Reinforcements/United.
Of course, this game is rather old and there probably aren't many people still playing this, but nevertheless I decided to give it a go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2fKxkYGXgY) and I'm of the opinion the map "Family Feud" fits perfectly to the game, and so do the other maps (well, some of them, at least).
What do you think?

By the way, if you find there's missing something, then you are right. I had to remove the bridge in the middle of the map as the level simply was too large to fit it to the actual dimensions ;)

Wow Thurbo! I can't tell you how nice it is to see that map being played in what is basically the "original" Worms (aside from the original Worms of course).

Thanks so much for showing us this. And if you dont mind, I'd like to highlight your video on our site.

Sure, it's your map, after all!

One more thing, by the way, you see the blue mountains in the background I think? They are standard backgrounds with slightly adapted colours and can be replaced by custom drawings, just like the actual map. I googled for a photo of a Japanese garden but sadly didn't find anything that matched. Well, just to inform you up to what extent you can in fact customise your maps in Reinforcements :)

Very nice!
Wow being played in what is basically the "original" Worms (aside from the original Worms of course).
Reinforcements was the expansion pack for Worms that introduced support for fully customisable color maps, United was a combo release of the two. So it IS the original. :)
