If you have been told that yor sound and game crashes can be fixed by updating Directx, with this link:

And it is failing (getting an error).

Then the solution is that you need to make sure Windows is fully updated. This includes all important and optional updates (obviously not language packs).

Once they have installed, reboot your PC and then try installing your Directx update. It should hopefully work!
