Oh how I hated the rope in the previous Worms games... It was all about getting to the enemy by roping, and not about pulling off skilled shots. I still dislike the rope, especially cave maps would be so much cooler without it. Few people are shooting in cave maps, most are just laying dynamite. Me too, I mean it's the only way too win.

Well, thanks for the new rope, and thanks for a new Worms Game.

People hating WR needs to chillout.
WA is not going to go anywhere. This is another game, it's not a expansion to WA, so it's not going to overwrite your WA installation!!

Talking about sequels, I'm a long time Heroes of might and magic player, with my fave being III. When HOMM5 came out I bought it instantly, played it like 2 days and then I got bored. The game is still fun for short plays, but sometimes I just want to play with the features HOMM3 has, and that's what I do, I even build mods for it (what a fun relaxing game it is :D). Now they are doing HOMM6 totally diferent, UBI is doing drastic changes to the gameplay... but you know, Im buying it anyway, to check the new experience. And HOMM3 will still be here, I'll still be playing it, and I'll have a new game to change pace sometimes.

The fact that a new game come's out does not destroy the previous games, I don't get your rage, are you afraid of something?? Maybe the fear of the community leaving to WR?? I don't get you... games are just... games you know.

Of course, it needs fixing, a better campaign, but overall it's a funny new game with nice physics focused more on weapon tactics and realism (kinda, but works nice). And WA is still alive and great.... you see how easy it is?

People are just dissapointed that Team17 would choose to disregard what makes WA so great, ignore comments and suggestions from the biggest and most active community of Worms players ever, and take the Worms franchise yet another step backward in every single way.

This is fairly understandable dissapointment, and this is a WORMS FORUM isnt it...? Surely this is a suitable place to express dissapointment people may have with a new Worms Game...?

Yes games are just games, but we all enjoy playing games, thats why we bother to take the time to post on a games forum. Do you really think that people are pulling their hair out when talking about their dissapointment? They're complaining about a game, they're not losing any sleep over it...

I bought HOMM5 Gold and played it for about the same time as you did. I really wanted to love it but there was just something not quite right. I'm a massive fan of the old turn-based Warlords games and thought HOMM5 would be the modern equivalent but it wasn't really. Difference was it was the first and only HOMM game I've ever played. They've got the third one on gog.com right now and I was thinking about buying it because everyone evangelises about how its the best in the series, think I will now.

I really love Worms Reloaded and I started with the original Worms in the Amiga 500 before moving onto the PC port and its sequels so its not like this is my first Worms experience. The standard arsenal is actually still far too generous for me though, mainly because it gives you six jetpacks and infinite grenades and bazookas. My friends and I had a few one on ones and we all got sick of the "jetpack and dynamite/mine routine" and the "jetpack to vulnerable worm on edge of cliff and baseball bat him" routine. There's no skill in that. So now we play with one jetpack each and five of both bazookas and grenades per match and its a far more satisfying experience.
As for the ninja rope, I'm more than happy with it. It does what it was originally meant to do, allow you to access higher platforms and span chasms. I allow two per match in my settings to prevent abuse of it.

The game definately needs a patch sharpish but thats because of blatant bugs and not because of any gameplay mechanic.

perhaps Reloaded will get similar treatment. it's pretty obvious Reloaded has been completely half-assed, but maybe they'll take our complaints and fix them in an impact-esque mega-patch. it's not without precedent.

despite all the complaints, the basics for a good game ARE present. T17 just needs to chip away all the muck surrounding it.

The game definately needs a patch sharpish but thats because of blatant bugs and not because of any gameplay mechanic.and let's not forget poor design. most of the complaints are with the UI. pretty much every aspect of the UI needs work.

WR is WR, And WA will allways be WA, with it's own features. If the developers decided to forgot about the game you liked the most doing a different game instead, fine, but don't do it yourself. Don't try to find WA in Reloaded when WA it's still there in your HD.

Having said that, the new game has it's faults, mostly, has the word PORT all over it's face... what botters me more it's the UI and the campaign. The UI is clearly done for a console pad, with one option for each scrolling arrow instead of interface windows wich can hold a lot of options in one single screen. The same happens with the "get from A to B" missions using rope/jetpack where all the times you get to the goal without having wasted even half of the time, and then you realise, "of course, it was made with joysticks in mind". Those are more objective complains (well the UI thing maybe subjective, it's a matter of tastes. Still to big though), but trying to make WA from WR, hmmm... we all knowed it was going to be W2:A ported to pc with just minor additions, it was never meant to be a sequel... It's just a good game on it's own.

I suppose something else worth bearing in mind is that WA 1.0.0.0 was pretty shoddy compared to the second release 3.0.0.0.

I agree with you, in some way.....
WR and WA are two different games....but, in the other hand, the two are Worms.....Worms 2: Armageddon have more stuff, its more enjoyable and its, in fact, a sequel to the Worms franchise in XboxLive Arcade.....but WR is "just another worms game"....I mean, its not a "step forward" in the PC worms franchise at all (the unique worms PC games that have less stuff are Worms reinforcements and Worms 1)....
The problem, and the reason of most old Worms fans blaming Team17 for this game is that they continue ignoring their roots.....this game, as you said, has nothing to do with WA/WWP....and, I think, most fans would love a true sequel to that games....
Personally, I see WR as a port of the XboxLive game, W2A....and its a good port, it have some bugs, but Im sure they will fix them....so, for a ported game is good....
I hope team17 to success with this game, since is their cpomeback to PC after 6 years....so, maybe, in a distant future, they release a true Worms PC game, one that have been designed for PC and not just a ported one with a map editor.....
