First off.. the menu.. its a piece of CRAP and full of bugs....
Custom schemes to create is ****ing bad with the crap ui...
there is no preview for the huds and so on, and so on

If you play a private match the steam avatars are changed...

and could you please make that you can shoot with left mouse button?!
Shooting with keyboard is just fugly. and select weapons is on right button so...

I agree for the first part.

as for the controls, they are the same as were the previous worms games. I think it's what makes them fun and challenging.

for the controlls, everyone has its own opinion, but as i am an pc only gamer,
i'd like to have some shooter like controlls you know...

But it aint a shooter?

Use arrow keys, f keys, space and enter. Not that hard its same as WA.

It's not same. Why using backspace you can jump forward? Enter and backspace is ****ing same jump. It's stupid. Sometimes instead of jump back, you jump forward... in WA it's impossible...

Also for change air strike side, you must use "z" intead of left and right arrows...

who cares what it is and what it isn't? this is 2010. let's just have customizable controls like every other game that's ever been made ever. problem solved.

But there is a problem! You are unable to customize the controls as you like!
I want to put Y/Z to left and right arrow for changing direction of air strikes but it's impossible

Yes, but you can't change any mouse controls. Yet.

I'm not sure if it's actually feasible to use the left mouse button for firing weapons, since that button is used to target strikes or teleports for example.

sure its possible xD
its easy to implement (for left mouse button maybe 3 lines of code)
and if you aimed, you can easily push left mouse button again...

Don't ever say that phrase to the devs. They're allergic to it. :)

That'd be hard, as they have probably lynched themselves already.
Or rather, their livers.

Clearly you're forgetting all the hours of testing that changing a line requires to ensure the program didn't flip upside-down as a result. ;)

if you know the programm something easy like maxing an option for a mouse button won't flip up the whole programm! oO

and this code will never be implemented... just look at it... zzzzz...

Chat should have configurable Open and Close keys, not just one key that serves both purposes.

Jump 2 should ONLY perform a backflip.

The game should allow the same key be assigned to multiple tasks. This allows my first point to be configured so that one key can indeed be used to open and close chat like it is seemingly meant to do now.

let's have open chat be q and close chat be Home! yeah!

and then let's have space be my button to jump, shoot AND walk forward! cause THAT won't break the game in half at all!

franpa
28 Aug 2010, 09:34
Or Open chat be Page Down and Close Chat be Page Up? and have a 3rd function which will open the chat if it isn't and close it if it is and have this binding configurable as well to retain access to the current chat method.

Whats wrong with having Jump 2 perform 1 type of jump and Jump 1 performing only the other type? unless you really like alternating between keys for the same purpose all the time?

You do all realise you can use a keychanger?

Alia5
28 Aug 2010, 10:51
You do all realise you can use a keychanger?

do you realize, that if you PAID for a game then you dont want to use something?

its like with an iphone4... if you touch that area, your signal goes away...
if you put duct tape over the spot you can touch it...

you know... if you pay for something you want it to be all to be working and not having to use other things...

Keychangers do not make a game void, alot of people use Keychangers for WA for example, for roping, there is a thing called 3-key lock, when you hold up+right or up+left and press space, it doesn't respond, it you for example, do what I do, and change the spacebar (fire) to left control, it gets rid of the 3-key lock, this doesn't work with all keyboards.

My point is, the guy wants to use left mouse button as a keychanger, if he gets an advanced keychanger, he can do this manually.

Especially seeing as WA doesn't have an ingame Key Configuration option...

I don't know if WR has, I haven't tried it (the Key Configuration, not the game, i've played the game), but I am guessing if there was one, he wouldn't be complaining that he can't do this, unless he doesn't know either, and if it does have Key Configuration, then he SHOULD be able to setup the controls as his heart so desires.

you can set controls to any button on the keyboard.. but not on mouse..
and you didn't get my point...
if i pay for something, i want it to work the way i want to, and enable setting the mouse for such things is work of maybe 5-10 minutes

like i said... like an iphone4
you pay ~900€ to get one (without contract) and then you have to use duct tape or a case to use it like you want without holding your hand like u r retarded...
its just not okay...
well maybe its an exaggerated comparison... but so i see things

use a key changer if you want but i paid the team17 guys (many of you here did too of course) and they could do that 5 minutes of work for such an simple thing

No, i'm sorry, you have completely ignored what I have said, and you are obviously oblivious to the fact that you are wrong, considering EVERY Worms game on the PC so far has used the spacebar to fire, that's just the 1st reason why you are wrong, 2nd, you obviously haven't done your research on the game in the 1st place or you would know this seeing as it's such a big deal to you, 3rd, why should THEY (being T17) put extra work into something that doesn't even matter as the aforementioned standard settings are the most common, and easiest to use once you try it/get used to it, 4th, You can use an advanced Key-changer like I already said.

Even after taking all this into account, IF you are still not satisfied, be reminded that you bought this product for the entertainment, the difference between using the mouse and the spacebar is not a big deal, it's not the end of the world, you came into the world with nothing and you will leave with nothing, be happy you are even alive at this moment in time for reasons unknown to even play the game, some people can't even afford a house to live in and you have the luxury they don't, and you are complaining about 1 action in a game???

^^ - Always look on the bright side of life (Monty Python) :D

I know I complain about stuff also, but an action button on a game? Please lol...

every worms game?
well... i know at least one that uses the mouse for sure...

and i don't have it on the spacebar i have already customized my controls so i can live with, and i really like the game
but (for me) its a complete nono to not be able to set ****in mouse buttons in a game, remember its 2010 and pc-gamers are most used to using mouse and w a s d and the spacebar to jump

team 17 should so it because i paid them! and implementing that is NOT a big deal, if i got the sourcecode i could easily do that my self in a few minutes

and if they implenet that, a bg amount of people will be happy, and the other ones could play with their (for me...) unpractical and unplayable key configuration

but anyways.. why are you against an implementation of being able to set your mouse controls as you like?
you must NOT do that, so be happy and stfu...

but well end of conversation it hase no use

I am not against it lol, I am all for it, I am just pointing out that you bought the product under an assumption that what you wanted would be available and you got it wrong, so you have to live with the consequences, if this is truly dissapointing for you, and this is how you like it, you should have done more research on the game, or asked questions before buying, as it's not a big deal really, but IS to you, that's all...

I do agree with you that having the mouse buttons as keys would be a nice option, but it definitely is not a priority. However you obviously are not a real programmer and therefore you couldn't do anything with the source code. If you were a real programmer you would know what kind of tremendous working is involved in making changes to a working system, i.e. planning, programming, testing, documenting and many other things.
I have worked with quality systems, and just getting permission to change a single line of code is tiring at best. However this isn't just a single line of code, they have to implement the virtual connection from the mouse button to an arbitrary in-game event, such a change could cause other bugs to appear and would have to be thoroughly tested first. What would also have to be changed is the interface where you select which keys do what, which also is quite a change.

Having said that, it is possible that they will do this anyways seeing that they will hopefully redesign the interface in the first place (Or so I hope).

Bottom line, yes it would be a nice feature, but it isn't a priority. And please do not underestimate the work which a programming team has to put forth to make a seemingly minor change.

The game does have mouse support, just not support to customize the mouse. You can use the mouse to move the camera, open the weapon panel, zoom etc.

WR has the same mouse support as every other 2D PC version had before.
Even more, as you can use the middle mouse button to rotate girders and the mouse wheel to zoom.

Yeah but I would personally NEVER rely on a beta testers word, or a beta version of a game, for the alpha version to be exactly the same.

And really? Thanks bonz, that is really useful information, i'm going to try that :D
