Hi there,

there are many information about Worms: Reloaded already, but I didn't see a single highlighted list - thus I decided to make one. This is list with basic, un-extended and highlighted info, for people who don't have time/mood to read walls of uncut text and search in many threads.

Feel free to post your own adds, I'll be happy to add them!

Basic Info
Worms: Reloaded is an artillery game/turn based strategy game developed by Team17
The game is largely based upon the console version Worms 2: Armageddon released on Xbox Live Arcade (although it is highly updated and extended)
Gameplay is turn-based and returns to its original 2D aspect for the first time on PC since Worms World Party in 2001

Release Info
W:R are released through Steam Store on 26 August 2010 (25 August 2010 for pre-orderers) in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish language (although game voicebank has much more languages included).
They are 2D, and are "best of" from titles such as Worms: Armageddon, Worms World Party or Worms 2: Armageddon (released on Xbox)
On release, they contain 3 gamemodes - Campaign (65 missions - 30 in Classic Campaign, 35 in Warzone Campaign, made for advenced players), Bodycount mode and Training mode.
As usual, they also contain Hotseat mode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotseat_(multiplayer_mode)) for up-to 4 players and Online mode (4 players, 4 worms each) with Steamworks support.
In addition, game also has Steam Achievements, Leaderboards and Statistics.
There will be a demo, but it will be released on/after game launch. Guest passes will be, most likely, given to every orderer.
MAC version is planned, but works didn't start yet.

Customization
You can change appearance of worm skin, choose victory dances, gravestones, voices, HUD, title and over 70 different hats! Every change is applied as team option (you can't costomize single worms, only whole team).
Pre-orderers will get 6 exclusive hats and 10 exclusive forts. They can be seen here (link (http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs114.ash2/39019_420239748475_54059728475_4666606_1571541_n.j pg)).
Change-able things include:
- Worm names
- Team names
- Scheme settings
- Customise landscapes (importing images etc)
- Hats
- Particle sets (for your weapons explosions)
- Forts
- Gravestones
- Worm colour
- Speechbanks

Maximum on one map is 4 teams (with 4 worms each)

Gameplay

Turn time can be set to a maximum of 90 seconds
As usual, you can create your own schemes

Weaponry

Number of weapons on launch is 48, containing weapons from many prequels (W:A, W2:A, WWP).

Are all of those statements oficially confirmed? if so, we'll only get the "full game" experience after buying extra content or DLC.... nice, I'm not so exited now, patches are allways welcome, but if they start getting crazy about releasing content out of the "full game" I'll stick to regular WA.
At least it had a lot of content, more weapons and all in the one-CD release.

Gotta hate new times and the free MMO syndrome... "You can play for free forever!!... BUT, there's all this stuff to buy if you want the full experience" wee

Oh man, I love you guys. You'll completely ignore what the game actually has, for as long as there'll be DLC or an expansion or a sequel, it doesn't count as a full game and thus isn't worth playing!

I mean, I get the argument that if the developers have premium content planned then it's likely that funding/content is coming out of the regular game... but you're actually presented with exactly what the regular game has here! You have no excuse!

It is confirmed by official posts that weapons and achievements might be added - but that's all. But they are open to paid DLCs as long as price = content. That seems fair. If they'll pull out DLC with few hats, forts, weapons etc, I am fine with it if it's not gonna be overpeiced.

By these [yet]'s I just wanted to point out that it might change, according to official posts.

If you buy the game, you'll get all features planned for the start and pay ONLY for those and nothing more. You'll have full experience from the beginning.

If there releases any additional stuff as DLCs then you'll pay for extra content unnecessary for the full game's experience.

WR will be finished on release, with loads of contents already featured - it's not as if they've taken out weapons/missions which are actually finished just to gain extra money

it's not as if they've taken out weapons/missions which are actually finished just to gain extra money :rolleyes:Like some other developers do when they ship DLCs on DVD with full game, and then you have to unlock them for money. Zing!

But ofc, I agree. I don't see why they shouldn't make DLCs as long as it is not Activision style.

This is another case, at least as far as I know - some developers do this to limit the trade of second-hand goods which has been a thorn in their side since ever.

Oh, I see. I don't like it anyway. And it only makes it easier for pirates. Yarrr!

Them practices date well back to when ID Software released I think it was DOOM II? The install disc includes DOOM 1 and Hexen iirc but you need to pay to get a decryption key and install them.

What I'm wondering is, how matchmaking and online games would work, if some people have bought DLC with new weapons and others don't.

How is it done in W2:A on XBLA with the "Battle Pack" DLC?
That DLC contains 6 new weapons.
If someone hosts a game with these new weapons, can non-owners of the DLC join, or are they filtered out in the beginning, basically splitting the online community?

Moki

Good question.

Anyone?

Thurbo
12 Aug 2010, 19:45
I know a little.
If someone joins someone's game who owns Battle Pack, he also may use all six new items. It doesn't work the other way round, as far as I know.

New background and particle effects can't be seen by non-DLC-owners (not sure), however new personalisation stuff is visible for all players.

Additionally, there's a new mode called "Super Forts" thus only players with DLC play together. You also still can play normal forts but you won't be able to use the new forts then.

Moki
12 Aug 2010, 20:00
Nice. Seems more than fair.

What are Super Forts?

Thurbo
12 Aug 2010, 20:12
Same as "Forts", the only difference is you can use Battle Pack-Forts if you wish.

Moki
12 Aug 2010, 20:23
Not so nice, but whatever. Jeez, I am pretty excited for Worms already. Should get half year pre-release for preorderers.

Well, that could be a reason to split the community.
And to be frank, if I have DLC content, especially new weapons, and joined a game only to realize that I couldn't use them, I'd leave immediately.

People without DLC will surely get shunned.
Same as happened with people in WA that didn't have the beta updates, or an older version without certain features.
Only that this team money is an issue, so the difference between owners and the rest will be much bigger.

I agree with the other stuff, though there it's just like you played a scheme without those weapons... not a big issue imo

First
DLC > downLoadable content.
I don't see any reference to money in here.

Now:
If we for example released a huge single player expansion with loads of missions in as DLC, we would probably need to charge for that. But something like for example a speech bank editor Well I would expect we would give something like that away. Does that make sense?

Team17 will support Worms Reloaded, but I don't believe they have confirmed what form that will take yet. Both pay-for-DLC and free additions are possible.

MRSAMPLE
14 Aug 2010, 19:19
I don't mind paid DLC, as long as T17 gives us some modding tools/tips, you know, at least a Soundbank Editor as WA. Hope the game files are somewhat accesible, I love to mod and the addon supporting communities, like morrowind, starcraft, hedgewars',etc.; so we can create hats, speech packs, themes and stuff like that, and download them for free; that would be a nice way to expand the lifespan and activity of the community.
Anyway, seeing as it's an upgraded console port I doubt it will be modfriendly. I'm getting it after all, it's just that after looking at the nice but simple "customization" options that the new game has, I can't stop thinking of how cool it would be, you know, "community theme packs" or "submit your hat" threads... beh, I'll better shut up...
Let's wait 'til it gets released ;).

Considering you can only get this game through Steam, yes, it is quite definitely paid dlc.

Thurbo

Actually it can impossibly become DLC, since DLC defines content that gets added to a game.

I don't think that's what they meant.

They were asking if there would be DLC for the game.

Cathulhu

Well, actually, the game already has DLC, the Pre-Order Bonus.

But about future content updates. Not even Team17 knows if there will ever be paid DLC.
