Hey all, i'm relatively stuck on several purchases of items at the moment, and dithering if I should pick Reloaded, I REALLLLLY want to but I have a question first.

I'm a several year player of Worms 2 and Armageddon.. almost all of that time was spent roping.

Armageddon became epic with the help of the recent patches, especially increasing map size because this allowed all kinds of insane roping map ideas which I still love now.

Question is though, while I saw some roping in the trailer, I get a strong feeling that we won't be able to have massive map sizes, or custom ones. That reinforced several threads I saw when they reduced team count etc. I know its not a fact.. but I get the feeling that Reloaded will be missing alot of qualitys that Armageddon has.

So my question is this, will roping be a big part of Reloaded? can we have custom and big maps?

From what I know:

Yes, custom maps (either drawn in a random art program or using in-game editor) are possible. No, no giant maps are planned (at least not for release). Roping part will be approximately as big as in WA as it was before those beta updates I assume.

Custom maps are definitely in. From what I can tell, the regular size looks a bit bigger than W:A's, but I don't know if you can increase that. Or if you can change map size at all beyond the two defaults as far as I can see (you can definitely make the map vertical and narrow, at least).

The one big addition the game might have to roping is the ability to place sentry guns in custom maps. That oughta be interesting!

From the Steam forums:
The landscape editor will allow you to import pictures you have made in a paint package. The max landscape size is currently 2560 X 1280 or the opposite for vertical maps.

For comparison, the original W:A map size was 1920x696, so WR is around twice as big as W:A.

I'm not quite sure if you can say so, since worms are probably bigger than in WA.

Thanks for all the info guys, im feeling positive :)

I survived on the standard size of WA and W2 for a long time till the patch game, I can wait a while until they do it with WR ;)

PRE-ORDERED!

So 90% of the community will be hardcore ropers who spend hours practicing on a daily basis, then? I very much doubt that. :p

WR doesn't support rope knocking, so players will actually have to rely on weapons to do damage.

Yes it does: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=16512957

It's been possible to knock since Open Warfare, too. It's just that it's extremely difficult and you need to be really, really fast, otherwise the enemies wouldn't move a single inch. Also, if you manage to knock them at all it won't have a big effect, mainly because of the physics which don't allow worms to slip as fast as in WA so easily.

Yes I knew about that but it's nothing like in WA and wouldn't be useful in many situations. There is a lot more to the game than the rope.

Wormsong is more important than the rope.
