So, new Worms game for PC. At last it's 2D. I have loved Worms Armageddon since the days I got it. It's pretty fun after a decade of it's release. I haven't played Worms Realoded (yet) but I have tested Worms 2 Armageddon and I have seen the new trailer and screenshots of this game. Is it worth to get when I already have Worms Armageddon, one of the most funny games ever made?

Partially. Graphics seem very cool and I like them. However in my opinion Worms Armageddon has better physics, because in Worms 2 Armageddon physics were too "fast" and "slick". Maybe that doesn't matter in long-term but there are still some things that might disappoint me if I get this game:

(please tell me if some things are not true as I haven't played the game yet)

Weapons / tools
I like to play tactical duel matches with my friend but some key weapons are missing. For example

bow (powerful when you can use this to drop enemy worms to water. We use this weapon almost every match!)
cows (you can send one to left and one to right)
2x damage box (was pretty fun in WA)
double speed box (useful in some cases)
Sheep Launcher (fun and useful in some cases)
Viking ax (takes -50% damage and it's useful if a worm has lots of energy)
Dragonball (the new dragonball doesn't usually have enough firepower to drop enemy worms to water)

There are many other weapons in WA I like as well but those are the most important that are missing :/

No fanfares
What? I won and I didn't hear my team's fanfare O.o

Teams
Only 4 worms per team? Only 4 teams instead of 6? No team favorite weapons? What kind of Worms game is this?

Download-only
If I buy a game, I always buy it from a reseller and I like to get the game in nice box and put it to my shelf.

No custom soundbanks
Is it true?

However the reasons I would like get this are nice graphics (winter theme!) and some new weapons like Sentry Gun and Magnet, but I'm not sure is it worth it when so many key features are missing.

The game has not been released yet and people who played the beta didn't get to experience the whole thing as I would expect the beta was focused on multiplayer mechanics more then anything else. I would expect them to take the same approach as Blizzard did with thier StarCraft II.

Information about the game is still coming out like the recent trailer and the images demonstrating the map editor etc.

This is the worst one IMO.

I know the game would be slow if there are to many players, but 4 is really too few. I hope they patch it to allow 6 or 8 players maximum.

Yes it has not been released yet but that's one reason I made this "preview" because they can still do changes and hopefully make it better :)

Yeah - 48-worm-games in WA are fun :)

(please tell me if some things are not true as I haven't played the game yet)

Weapons / tools
I like to play tactical duel matches with my friend but some key weapons are missing. For example

kamikaze (very powerful in 1 vs. 2 games)
invisibility (useful in some cases, might be irritating, but I still keep it a part of Worms games)

Kamikaze and invisibility are included.

No fanfares

I'd like to hear the Worms theme if someone wins since it's not included at all :p

Teams

A pretty much normal one, there exist more Worms games with 4 worms than ones with 6 or 8 (Space Oddity featured 3 worms per team).

Don't worry about "key features". Worms Armageddon and Worms Reloaded aren't like Starcraft and Starcraft II, it's a very different game. everything works differently and you have to think of other tactics. One tip: Instead of Dragon Balls for long distances, choose a mine (or a grenade if possible, though grenades won't work if your opponent stands next to a wall)

Well, of course I could get this and play it and Worms Armageddon together because they are not mutually exclusive :P I might like some things more in WA and some things more in WR. Let's see.

Cool if kamikaze and invisibility are included :) Were those weapons already in W2A O.o

The most disappointing thing for me would be small map sizes, maps designed for consoles and not the PC.

I was hoping at something along the lines off: Worms Armageddon plus MORE, but it seems like it's like W:A only LESS

I agree with you.

Actually, it's WA - some great WA features + TONS of new features!

I don't think it'll be better in terms of gameplay and features, but hey, at least it'll actually have people playing the online. :p

But for how long?!

Well, if it's any good it should last a few years.

But WA is also still played a lot, that's not a good reason actually :p

I'd prefer to have Worms:Armageddon + new features - nothing rather than
What I want from new Worms - Worms:Armageddon + Achivements + hats + forts + bla-bla-bla + console limitations

I'm ready to throw away things like Achivements to get custom sounds, custom graves, custom fanfare and loads of guns, big team limits in W:A
I won't be able to play online, but who cares?! I only play with friends anyways!

loads of guns

Because more than 45 just isn't enough, right?

Not quite as much. Then again, I haven't checked in over a year, but for some reason I don't expect it to have gotten any better since then... :p

WA is quite packed, actually. Have a look here, but remember that often during the Worm Olympics (http://wormolympics.com/), more than just the #AnythingGoes channel is occupied:

I'd love to check, but I haven't seen my disc since I moved home from uni. Bad times.

I think, for new gamers, this game is gonna be better than WA.....
But for old gamers like me.....I will play WR for a couple of months, but I think i will be coming back to WA after......
If T17 updates WR, like Deadcode and Cybershadow do with WA....they could change my mind....

The thing is the kind of updates Deadcode and Cybershadow do are not the kind of updates developers do, so there'll always be this perpetual gap between the hardcore WA fanbase and the rest.

Worms Armageddon is the only game in the series I never played so what Worms: Reloaded aims to deliver is pretty standard for a Worms game to me and I have to say, I cannot wait. I still play Worms United through DOSbox now and then but it will be great to have an installment designed to work on modern systems. I'm also delighted that Team17 have committed to continually update the game after release. I just know that my friends and I will be playing this to death, just like we did with the older Worms games back in the day.
