Does reducing the background detail level by pressing Insert help?

CyberShadow!

I have the same problem of him in my sister's new laptop with Windows 7. I've searched and searched unsuccessfully during these days for a solution, at least a workaround, asked for help to game partners, and nothing...

I was about to post here a request for help, but, I saw your INSERT suggestion, and voěla! It seems, that with all the elements of background gone away (flying things, water effects, distant terrain and sky), the intermittent freezing, or lag, dissapear.

Less objects of background during the game, less lag. Why this problem?

My sister's laptop is a Dell INSPIRON 1464, I play W:A in a less powerful HP Pavilion DV64 series (Windows Vista), and the game runs perfectly to me. Of course, except for the well known colour issue that is solved with WormKit module or killing the explorer process.

This is a very specific slowdown caused by the way the background gradient is dithered in version 3.6.29.0; it only affects some systems.

The next beta should neatly solve this problem as well as make the backgrounds look better. Hooray.

Would anyone mind if I add this to

?

I think it's asked too frequently.

Since no one did it, I've added it myself (http://worms2d.info/Troubleshooting_FAQ#In-game_plays_extremely_slow_on_higher_detail_levels) .

Thanks for the info.

Very unlucky systems...

Have you tried lowering the game resolution? That ended up being my issue. I've got a brand new HP Pavilion dv7 series with decent specs... but I just can't play it in 1600x900 (default resolution) without screen lag. I lowered it to 1280x720 and it works perfectly. I also found that if I want to hook up the HDMI out and play it on the TV, disabling the laptop display made it work flawlessly (again, in 1280x720). It might be possible to leave the display on, but I haven't messed with it very much yet.

I'm on Windows 7 so I had to apply the color fix from this recent thread (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=41652). I also used the front end work-around (http://worms2d.info/Troubleshooting_FAQ#The_frontend_and_menu_system_s uffers_flickiness.2C_lacks_background_sound.2C_mes sed_up_animations.2C_or_unusually_slow.2Ffast_anim ations).

Hey CyberShadow, the issues I mentioned in the Worms Reloaded thread (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?p=725342#post725291) are resolved. Thanks for everything you've been doing.
