View Full Version : Help with Underwater Theme

Well I created some kind of an underwater theme in Worms 4:

I'd like to change sky to an underwater one but I'm not used to this stuff. I don't even know a good (free) program to modify it. Is there somebody who might help me? (Additionally I think either lava or goo could replace the water)

Update: A sky designed as a cave could be useful for this hell level... and lava for the water.

Xom View 2.4 is the program you need. It needs you 5 seconds to draw the sky. =P

But you can only put the colour

For lava, just make the water non-transparent with no color (white) (located in Tweak.xml), and change the water texture. (Located in the themes folder .)

I got it but can't draw anything with it. How does it work?

Edit: where can I find xom view 2.4? I tried looking here and on Worms 3d portal. Can't find it on either :-/.

Do I need a certain editor or something for that? I can't modify any tweak there. Do you mind if I ask you to send me a tweak folder with its changes? Would be too great :)

All I found was a test version of 2.4, by the way.

You can't edit your tweak file? I know you can edit that file in both the Europe and US version.

Edit: Nice themes btw.

I have Xom View 2.1 and it works perfectly. I put that once in my Worms 4 clan website, but now it's available in ucoz.ru worms 4 tweaking website. If you want to change the sea colour, just go to www.wormstersclanworms.forumfree.it and go to tutorials. Here you'll find every kind of tutorial to customise your game.
However, you can modify the sea colour just opening the tweak.xml file with notepad and going in the right line, indicated by my tutorial.

I'm about to regret I learn Spanish instead of Italian.

However I got version 2.1 as well, I just don't know how to draw anything with it.
It seems it's necessary to have an account on the site but I don't have one, would be cool if I was able to see those tutorials somewhere
Edit: In the editor, which colours do I have to change? Everyone? Or just a certain one?

Trust me, Spanish is harder than Italian. =P
However there is another italian clan of Worms 4 (direct Wormsters descendants) that put my tutorials on their website.

www.worminatorsproworms.forumfree.it

You have to register an account there and, once you've done it, I let you enter on the sections. I'm a honored admin there. Don't worry about language: I translated all the tutorials into English too.
With Xom View you have to open the Xom files. You can find the sky files into programs/codemasters/Worms 4 Mayhem/data/Themes/xxx Theme and are called sky01.xom, sky02.xom and sky03.xom

Once you've opened them, there are a list of inputs on the right column...just scroll them down until you find an input showing you a 8x8 white pixel below on the right. Save the image you've found, colour it and then load it on the same command.

So that's how it works. But doesn't this mean I can't actually draw an own sky (With different colours and all kind of stuff)?

I actually wanted a sky looking like this (http://www.freewebs.com/jabukanews/ThunderballCave-underwater.jpg) one, but that seems to be impossible... Or are there options I missed?

Also, how exactly do I save and load those images?

Eh, that image is impossible! Maybe on Worms Reloaded we can do a thing like that. There is a button called "Save BMP image", something like that.

I'm sure there must be a way to colour the sky exactly as you want it. Maybe with programs like "3DS Max" but they're usually expensive.

No. I have 3ds Max but it's impossible. Think that the change of sky has been possible only really recently, less than 4-5 months.
In fact it was my last tutorial after leaving my clan as leader.

How come when I save something as 32bit (some images use 32 and some use 24) the program identifies it as 2080?

Thanks to Iceworm the water now looks like this:

http://i597.photobucket.com/albums/tt52/Thurbo1/Screenshotnewlava.png?t=1279104977

I indeed have a request: Ain't it possible to get rid of the black (orange and yellow only)? Maybe let it look like the lava in Worms Forts?

Can you find a vid showing the place with lava, I never got that far in playing WFUS because I'm usually still more interested in W4 (or doing something else).

Can someone show me how to do transparent tga files (that will actually work).

I'd like to show you but I can't take any videos :(

Anyway maybe descriptions and screenshots help you out (except if you're using any other program than Paint Shop Pro)

This is how lava looks like in the very epic last level:

For some reason that water makes me think of/looks like honey.
Anyway, yesterday I took the black out of the textures, though it was still showing for some reason. Then for the rest of my worm day I got distracted with tweaking other stuff :p. I will try and get back to working on it again.

Thurbo

I tryed the very same so I thought you knew what to do :p

One suggestion though; does it have to do with tweaking the water colour? I'm no tweaker so...

Iceworm
15 Jul 2010, 22:50
No, I don't think it is the water color. Hmm, speaking of water color... I'm going to try something.

Edit: I think I found how to do it. Will post tomorrow.

Figuring this out might take longer than I thought. Right now I have green-yellowish water. Yesterday I was having red, but it was transparent, and that isn't what you want.
