This is just to find out what games people here really enjoyed from the 90's back.

lf l had to pick one game that l enjoyed the most, it would be Tie Fighter. l could play that for hours, and just recently found it again.

What about you guys?

Black & White 1, Quake 1, Descent 1 & 2, Warcraft II, Starcraft, Settlers 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1 & 2, Blake Stone 1, tons of Apogee demo's, Worms 2 and a ton of stuff i've probably forgotten.

Final Fantasy VII taught me to read =D

VIII is also epic, those two are life-changers really if you're a sucker for storyline and score.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Another giant, absolutely unmissable. Mario 64 is also up there, but OoT has the edge, for me.

Another one that stands out in my memory is Jersey Devil...I don't think it was hugely popular, but I remember playing it for weeks as a kid. It was super difficult at the time. Anyone else play it?

Lemmings and Commander Keen particularly stick in my memory, probably others too!

Ape Escape always stuck in my mind the most.

I always loved Mortal Kombat, all of them

Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim, Altered Beast, Road Rash, Duke Nukem, Quake...

I wish I had been into CK way back when, people rave about it...

I got DosBox and the whole series, but I couldn't get into it. Like with a lot of games, the nostalgia makes it, you can't just pick it up if it wasn't part of your childhood :-/

Lylat Wars and Goldeneye, too. Jesus, the 64 was a juggernaut. Nintendo have gone down the tubes chasing their glory days with shadows of the same games =[


Also on the multiplayer front, I remember spending a whole summer playing only Dynasty Warriors and Nightfire with a friend.

My first game was Sonic 2, then dad got Sonic 1 back from his friend and I realized how hard it was.

I used to watch my dad play Blood all the time, as well as WWII G.I. and Nam and Quake. I've got all of those games now (had to buy them online except for quake) and I still love them. Dad used to love to play Grim Fandango even though at my age I couldn't figure it out. He later got the full version and I feel super lucky because it's a lot of money now. I tend to confuse Quake with Unreal.

Also, Beachhead 2000 which I don't think I ever liked.

I was the one who got Worms 2. It later moved on to my dad, and then migrated back to me after I bought Worms: Armageddon. He always beat me at it.

My first games were (DOS) Lemmings, Prince Of Persia, Risky Woods, and Links: The Challenge Of Golf.

I have yet to beat any of them!

Micro Machines Military Madness. Man, that was fun!
Streets Of Rage. ALL of my friends loved that game!
Revenge Of Shinobi. HAAAARD. Also: Spiderman, Batman, what?
Mega Bomberman. Still my favourite of the whole series.
Earthworm Jim. Of course.
God Of Thunder. MEMORIES!
Deadly Rooms Of Death. Man I love that game!

The last two are free now, which is awesome!

Duke Nukem 3D, X-Com, Command & Conquer, Worms, Lemmings, Micro Machines, Warcraft, Black Thorne

The only 90's era game I really played was the original Age of Empires, which I have fond memories of.

I snagged a Wiz and have been going back through NES, SNES, GB, GBA, etc. Currently playing Donkey Kong Country and enjoying the heck out of it.

Gone through Link's Awakening, Super Mario World: Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger and a few others recently and still have a long way to go yet with my catalog of roms.

While there are memories of an Atari and games like Asteroids and Hang-On, they are incredibly fuzzy. So for me, it started with the NES and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. Then there was M.C. Kids, which was rather good despite being a McDonalds branded game; TMNT III: The Manhattan Project, Goal 2, Jurassic Park, SMB2, SMB3, Tiny Toon Adventures and Ms Pacman. Loved all those games to death. I also briefly played The Legend of Zelda at a relative's house during a vacation. It left a pretty strong impression on me, mostly because of the music and sound effects. I never got the game tho. I also recall playing Ninja Gaiden at someone else's house at some point.

Then came the SNES, which we got with Mario Paint. I remember being heavily dissapointed by this at the time, but learned to love it after a while. Used to play the fly swatting minigame a lot. Eventually we got more games for it: World Soccer '94: Road to Glory, Top Gear, Pilotwings, Tiny Toon Adentures: Buster Busts Loose, The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse, Street Figher II: Turbo, DKC, DKC2, DKC3, and the last game I ever got for the SNES: SMRPG. There were also a lot of rentals during this time: Zombies ate my Neighbors, Top Gear 2, Clayfighters, Uniracers, Battletoads & Double Dragon, Micromachines, Street Fighter Alpha, Bonkers, Contra III, Spider-man and the Xmen... and a lot of other games I don't remember. Man, renting games back in the day was awesome. You could hardly go wrong with a rental.

As for pc games, it was sometime in between the NES and SNES. My dad got a laptop, we used to plug it to a monitor to get colour and a separate soundboard for... well, sound :p. I remember playing a few games there too. The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary(really bizarre and awesome point-and-click edu-game), a couple of Mickey Mouse edu-games(one boring one about the abecedary or words or something, and another one that I loved where you could create your own story by having mickey peform actions. All I recall was you could have mickey try a few costumes, then you could have him call one of his friends and go out to a picnic. You had to prepare the food and stuff. I remember making spaghetti...), The Treehouse and Designasaurus II.

I also remember around '95 my aunt was dating my now uncle,and he had a few games on his computer. I recall playing Lemmings there, and also recalll playing Warcraft, which back then blew me away.

Finally, around '96 we got our first desktop computer, which was bundled with a joystick that had Hellbender bundled with it. That lead to Sim City 2000, Sim Copter, Rainbow Six, Wolfenstein 3D, Internet, Age of Empires I and II, Half-Life, TFC and the discovery of emulators and roms. Around 2000 my brother got a laptop, and that lead to Diablo II, Worms: Armageddon, Sims, Sims 2, Max Payne and Starcraft. Around 2001 I got a laptop and that lead to Black and White, then my laptop was stolen.

That's pretty much where what I consider Old School ends.

I wish I had the good fortune to have a PC back then that could play games.

I still remember DOS games being the best I got for a while and only a few of them. Some flight sim was the only thing my dad ever got for his computer, but I would escape to my cousins' house and play Worms there every possible opportunity. Eventually Worms 2 and Tribes 2 were the first games I ever owned for the PC and I still remember begging my dad to buy a 16MB video card so that I could run Tribes. Once I actually owned Worms 2 for myself....god the hours.....

I stuck with worms being my main PC games for a while. We owned the original Wolfenstein, I remember, and some racing game...I think it was just called Battle Race. My cousin brought over a number of old classics like Tie Fighter, Sim City and some others that his cousin loaned to him, but I owned very very few. To this day I've never even heard of the vast majority of games people consider classics for PC gaming. Fallout, for instance, I never really knew anything about until about a year or so before Fallout 3 released.

Mostly I stuck to my consoles. Owned every Nintendo console made and played all the classics (with a list of exceptions I can actually list, it's so short). I missed out on Sega's gaming consoles due to my Nintendo obsession, but ah well. Nintendo was better anyway :p

Some other old games I really can remember playing and enjoying, thus they are burned into my memory are: (PC)Warcraft II, Starcraft, Scorch, Gorillas, Lego Racers, Monkey Island I-II, Day of The Triangle, Dark Forces, Sam 'n' Max: Hit the Road, Worms 2, (NES)Super Mario 1-3, Donkey Kong, Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, Duck Hunt, Dr. Mario, (SNES)Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Tetris Attack, (SEGA)Gain Ground, General Choas and various Micro Machines.

Sadly, those three SNES games are the only ones I ever owned.

I've been doing something similar with the Dingoo A320 (running Linux, as the native emulators are a little weak).
