I believe we had the last round of invitations in 2008 (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36939).

Shall we let some new people in? Maybe this'll freshen up the forum a bit.
Any suggestions?

Edit:
Shadowmoon's 17-months blocking period ran out last January... :p

Plasma

no joke.

Plasma

no joke....I'm sorry, but if this happens, OD really will be dead even to me.

Akuryou13
5 Jun 2010, 04:37
plasma isn't as bad anymore, but he's still pretty consistently annoying to me. I don't think it would ruin the place or anything if he were here, though, so I'm mostly neutral with a slight lean towards "no"

shadowmoon, sadly, I could see being here this time around. he's become a perfectly decent poster.

is .Jet in here yet? *checks* well there's one I vote for.

and the fact that Pyramid isn't should be a capital offense.

Alien King

Not Plasma.
Not Shadowmoon either.

But I don't really know, since I tend to look at most posts these days outside this forum with contempt.

GrimOswald
5 Jun 2010, 13:41
I think Shadowmoon has gotten to the point where having him around might not be such a bad thing. And he posts a fair bit too, so he could liven things up a bit.

Pyramid's an option too. A somewhat grotesque option, but an option nonetheless. :p

SargeMcCluck

I think many people visit here because it's just a nice way of having slow discussion with people they know. Do we really need anyone else here? A few more people won't liven things up, and Plasma will probably cry for a week after reading all the hateful things written about him in the past.

and I dunno. I mean, we've got a solid group of friends here, sure, but if someone else has become decent enough to let in, I see no reason NOT to. which is why I suggested Pyramid. he fits in.

In my opinion, if we invite the likes of Plasma and Shadowmoon in, then as they are some of the few regular posters outside of OD, OD won't really seem any different to the rest of the forum. Maybe hang on a bit.

Or put it to the vote!

is .Jet in here yet? *checks* well there's one I vote for. Yeah he seems alright.

Everybody else... Not really. There is basically nobody at all who I actually want to see in here. Definitely not Plasma or Shadowmoon. I... think I'm with FutureWorm.

MtlAngelus
6 Jun 2010, 07:16
Plasma still sucks, Shadowmoon is not bad but I don't see him fitting in.

.Jet and Pyramid both get my seal of approval.

Akuryou13
6 Jun 2010, 07:43
Shadowmoon is not bad but I don't see him fitting in.actually I think you've a point there. decent though he may be he's not really "one of us" just yet.

and that's what's throwing me off plasma as well. he never WILL be...

SupSuper
7 Jun 2010, 11:07
The forum's been pretty much dead all over, there's nobody new or noteworthy to invite IMHO. Maybe when the new PC worms comes out it'll change. :p

Jet and Pyramid are ok I guess. Although we should also start considering if people actually want to be invited into OD. We've had a fair share of people that weren't really interested, shrugged it off and never came back.

That's also why I'd vote No against Plasma and Shadowmoon. Plasma is just "ugh I mean seriously don't even joke about it even outside the forum he's a pain" and I doubt Shadowmoon would make much use of OD at this point, if anything it might just encourage him to go back to mindlessly spam about stuffs.

No.
No no no.
Letting Plasma in here is the equivalent to condoning child molestation.

I say we let Slick in. He's cool.

Plasma: X
For me, he has actually become worse than the last time.
He often contacts me via instant messenger about his shenanigans with latest trans-European love affairs, that are doomed from the get-go.
He's obviously right in the middle of puberty, brimful of testosterone.
[17-months ban issued]

Shadowmoon: X
Still comes across to me like a child who pretends hard to sound adult.
Mostly only produces reworded posts of others, his only original posts being announcements of upcoming computer games.
And as he's even younger than Plasma, he'll go through puberty too. :p

Yakuza: ✓
I think for him [sarcasm] tags would have to be implemented. And [cynism] tags.
I like that.

Deadcode: ✓
Seeing that CyberShadow is in here, it would only make sense to have him in too.
Not that he would contribute that much, as I suspect him to be a secret agent, going on long trips of "bird watching" frequently.
He may also be a cyborg (http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/6062/daveminatornp7.gif) altogether!

.Jet & Pyramid: ?
Can't say much about those two.
I only know them from their fan-art and haven't had any communication with them, nor paid any close attention to the personality behind their posts.

Alien King
7 Jun 2010, 22:59
Show me some posts from yakuza that don't make him look like a sarcastic, argumentative tit and I'll agree. I haven't seen much from him of late.

no joke.eh. he's alright. I don't know that he's got enough of a handle on general forum use to be in here, though. he's a decent guy but he still reeks of new.

as for Yakuza, the single most intentionally irritating jerk on the forum, I'm going to have to vote no.

and even though I doubt he'd make much of an impact, what the heck is deadcode not doing in here!?

I remember him telling me about some portuguese girl he dated on and on and on I'm not sure why I guess he wanted me to feel dirty for every step I took in my own country.

Also he tried to make some over-ambitious platformer game for university with his whole class and it completely bombed so um.

What I'm trying to say here is that all of you that think Plasma is decent is because you haven't actually talked to him I mean geez seriously.

Yup, that's the story.
She was telling him that her mother confiscated her computer and mobile phone and forbade her every contact.
To me, that sounded like a cheap excuse to not have to talk to him. He seems to wear triple-layered rose-coloured glasses though. :)

Also, remember the Kelster adventure. :D
Also he tried to make some over-ambitious platformer game for university with his whole class and it completely bombed so um.
All I have to say is "Gamemaker".

I'm rather happy with the way things are now, but it wouldn't bother me if Pyramid/Jet/Deadcode were let it. In fact, it wouldn't bother me if everyone was let in. I'm wacky like that.

The way this place is TOP SECRET really weirds me out now.

Deadcode's in the Team17 usergroup, which grants auto access to OD AFAIK.

It's more that you let some of the people who did care, some more were banned and the rest left.

Deadcode's in the Team17 usergroup, which grants auto access to OD AFAIK.Yeah, he's not on the written list, but... I have a nagging memory suggesting that I've seen him in here before. Is that just me?

SargeMcCluck
12 Jun 2010, 22:39
The written list does exclude T17 staff, though.

I searched for posts by him in OD and didn't find any, so I don't think he's ever posted.

Pigbuster

Well, yes, but... surely that's an argument for creating an OD-like "whatever you want" forum that everyone else can use while keeping the current, private OD forum intact and seperate? Now that there are few enough people that it won't instantly turn into a cluster**** or whatever?

I wouldn't mind having a %100 OT thread that everyone can use. Or something. I mean, people would just post dumb crap in there at first, but then they'd get the point of it. Sorta like what happened here. A "your other art" thread in fan art would be nice, too.

FutureWorm
20 Jun 2010, 05:23
so just change the rules of oo. it's basically a public od anyway

Akuryou13
20 Jun 2010, 05:54
so just change the rules of oo. it's basically a public od anywaychange? I think we've all pretty much accepted OO as an off-topic forum for the rest of the forum. the only thing stopping a 100% OT thread happening there is that we old guys still remember the rule that it's not ACTUALLY an OD forum.

Blinx
20 Jun 2010, 13:14
I've always thought that the OD should have constantly had a slow trickle of new members into its leagues every month or two. That way it prevents OD becoming stagnant and uninspired.

However, its probably too late for that now. The community isn't as thriving as it was (Remember Forumville? I loved that), so there isn't much real point.

The OD is a blessing and a curse. Its great because you can talk to people you know aren't ****wits, however, it kinda creates a sense of elitism. Yes, there are alot of idiots outside the OD, but then again, I remember myself being like one of them, possibly even worse. Tarring them all with the same brush isn't gonna help anyone.

Akuryou13

Tarring them all with the same brush isn't gonna help anyone.personally? I think of it more as just a group of friends with their own private area to chat. it may have started off as a place to reward those with good posting habits, but OO has pretty much become an OD anyway, as mentioned, so OD now is just a private section for us to hang out with people we like, as opposed to the general masses. not because we're better, but because we like each other.

Xinos

I think we should let some new people in. Bring them in because I never go out!
It might be a nice change of pace, this place is pretty slow now a days.
