I'm trying to load W.A. on my home computer from a purchased CD but it won't get past the initial "game loading" window. I double click on the setup.exe icon and after waiting for several minutes (nice mushroom cloud screen) it just goes back to the main computer screen with all my folders. My system uses XP pro and runs on an AMD processor. Should I try downloading the contents of CD to a hard drive or flash drive and load from one of them?

That's not really going to work, but you could try doing this: http://worms2d.info/Running_WA_without_the_CD

Should help if the problem lies in your disc being damaged. But there could also be simpler solutions to this, I just can't think of any from the top of my head. Still, you should be doing this anyway because it reduces loading times and can even result in smoother gameplay.

Wait. Does clicking the "/Install/Install.exe" work?

(Setup.exe is just a launcher, the real installer is /Install/Install.exe .)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The setup.exe doesn't work at all - double clicking or right click - open. It's like a dead button. The install - install.exe is the same way - won't respond at all.

Tried disabling DMA - no luck

The only launch that does anything is the setup.now, which launches me into a screen with several options. When I click on install game, it goes through the expected screens (accept agreement, do you want help) and when I click the "don't want help button" it hesitates and then just closes completely putting me back in my windows explorer screen.

Tried using madewokherd's automatic install and it did install something, but when I tried to open the game it failed and gave me the message "failed to start because LTKRN10N.dll not found. Reinstall the program"

The disk is pristine, so I don't think it is the cause, and I was able to load from it on one of my other computers.

Try installing the latest Beta update yourself on top of the game installed by madewokherd's installer.

Success at last! The solution turned out to be easy - I needed to shut down all programs running in the background. Easiest way was to restart the computer, shut down all unnecessary programs and launch the install - install.exe program. I think turning off the DMA also helped. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I really missed this game.
