Hey All!

I have just a short question. Please vote about it!

Do you like Low Gravity in Hysteria or not?

LOL, I hosted Hyst the other day and I discussed that for almost 15 mins....
I, personally, dont like Lg in hysteria....when I host, i dont put it in the schemme....but I think the majority of players prefer Lg to be in.....

LG is a MUST! for an experience better then the original.

I prefer LG, it makes the firepunch worth using, amongst other things.

There really shouldn't be 15 min discussions about it - if you're hosting and you don't have LG in, i'll play with no LG. Similarly, if i host it then you'll have to play with LG. It's up to the host and if anyone doesn't like that they can leave and host their own.

Yup. That's usually what I do whenever someone doesn't want to put LG.
Low Gravity definitely adds a lot to the game and I've come to like it so much that I outright refuse to play without it. :p

My initial problem with adding LG to the scheme was not that it was useless, quite the opposite. At the time I felt it overpowered certain weapons in serious games, particularly Petrols [can hit anywhere on the map] and close Zooks [can drown a worm sitting in the middle of an island map], making players choose them over perhaps more creative attacks a lot of the time.

Of course it's too late now and as far as I'm concerned, LG is part of standard Hysteria. And that's okay, because there are quite a few upsides to it as well. Without it, the craziest of shots would not be possible and you can still avoid games of constant Petrol lobbing by playing on a cavern map at least some of the time. Also as M3nt pointed out, it's nice to see Firepunch being a valid and useful choice in a scheme other than Intermediate; those evil attacks from below add to the tactical depth of it all. It gave Flame Thrower and the Cow a couple hilarious extra uses as well.

Anyway, I still think the long-term effect of having added LG will only truly show once the scheme starts being played competitively, on a really high level, perhaps a year from now. This is not something that was really kept in mind at the time of its conception, because it was never meant to be played very seriously at all. Of course WormNet then came, snatched it, and made a run for it, heh. The rest is history.

Hmm...
I just remembered that I initially didn't like the schemes name "Hysteria" and suggested something else.
I can't remember what, even though, I went on to use my own name idea for several weeks.

My problem is actually using lg in hysteria.

How are you meant to press the buttons fast enough?

Reflex-learn the combos, like you learn the moves in street fighter and stuff. Forget trying to keep track of what each key does, just learn that tilde->tilde->space->f2->5->space = low grav 5 sec nade, etc. Also, position fingers beforehand, for example little finger on tilde, middle on f2, forefinger on 5, thumb on space.

Easiest way to use LG:

Utility Button (0 for me) x 2 -> Space -> Space = LG ZOOK

I personally don't use LG in my games, because the first time I played it, it wasn't there. Since then, all my games have been without (call me old-fashioned if you wish). Although if I do join a Hyst with LG, I wouldn't care. (Although I rarely join games now-a-days, ta to CS and WormNAT2)

I don't like lg at all, it changes behavior of some weapons. I use it only when there is no other option.

btw...

It's not about your "spirit" or I don't know what else, it's about your brain and hormones...

Build a vehicle that can go close to the speed of light, travel in it whilst inputting the keystrokes on a wireless keyboard that transmits the signal back to the stationary PC using quantum entanglement.

It's simple really.

It's easier to make illusion of slower time than making it slower. And you don't need to travel at 300 000km/s, if you'll concentrate enough, you'll "cheat" your brains time centre.

On a related note, how about adding Low Gravity to the scheme loaded by default when hosting with HostingBuddy?

I mean, it's not like it's that much of a hassle to type !ammo low grav inf, but it gets old when you have to do it for each and every game :p

That was why I started this topic, to add automatically LG to Hosting Buddy's Hysteria games.
But I think our lead isn't enough to show it to CyberShadow to change the settings to automatic LG.
Np, at least I tried and I will type always "!ammo low grav inf" in HB's Hysteria games :)
I hope it will be my biggest problem in my life :D

GreeN

This was discussed in a recent thread, and considering that nobody has actually given any compelling reason why it shouldn't be included in HB's scheme, I can't see why Cyber wouldn't add it at one point or another. Comments regarding gameplay itself are always heavily stacked in the favour of those for using LG in hysteria.

franpa

Cyber could add a "!Host HysteriaLG" option and have a separate scheme for Hysteria with LG.

Defeats the point, don't you think?

Shirdel

Well if you had said so in the first place, I wouldn't have voted in the Poll.
As I said, I personally don't use LG, but I think there should always be different options for everyone to enjoy.

Instead of typing 17 extra characters (including spaces), you would only need to type 2.

M3ntal

Ooh! 17 characters! I think my hands are going to fall off.

It adds up if you host often.

GreeN

Instead of spending the last 120 odd characters arguing your point, you could have hosted 7 hysteria games with LG

If the change was made I could have hosted more games with the same character limit.

Adding an entire scheme to change one utility is a bit preposterous, in my book.

Anyway, HostingBuddy or not, the Lg is always going to be at the discretion of the host. It's pointless gathering opinions, it'll always be down to the individual.

Personally, I can't remember using it more than once, ever. Then again I'm no Hyst buff. (By that, I mean that I'm rather poor with using stuff on Lg. I think 99% of shots can be made without it, easier, for me.)

By a hefty coincidence, my Hyst scheme was made by Franpa, which is the only reason Lg is in it.

Everyone is free to put LG in or take it away......but not everyone is free to say "no LG?!" 3 seconds after the game starts (that really **** me off)......I mean, there is a bug that dont allow ppl to see the weaponlist properly or what?!
