I just had to register to say how excited and thrilled I am about you guys at Team 17 re-imagining this great game which i remember so fondly. I've spent many many hours playing all the Alien breed games ( Alien breed, Alien breed II - the horror continues, AB:Tower assault, Alien breed 3D (which i also loved and finished) and Alien Breed 3D 2 - the killing grounds) on my Amiga plus many other games that Team17 has made. Additionally, Team 17 is much more than Alien Breed and Worms to me, i played pretty much every game you released on the Amiga and you were my favourite developer. I always thought you had the spirit and knowledge to make supremely fun and brilliantly developed games. You just know how to make something feel and play "right". In particular, besides AB, i really liked your All terrain racing - that was such fun!

It was also so cool to see Martyn Brown in video interviews about ABE - i just got such great vibes from him and i believe whole Team17 is still like that - there's just a feeling of "we love doing games and like to feel free and creative" about you that's reaaally missing from today's game-making world. In the Amiga days, that's pretty much how the whole community spirit felt like - enthusiastic, not so much business-minded, but more concentrated on the really good games, freedom, playfulness of the spirit. I really miss that.

So, thank you Team17, and i can't wait for Alien Breed evolution to come out for PC. I've already told all my Amiga mates about it and they'll be buying it for PC too. I'm getting a gamepad specifically for ABE (the first one I've ever had on PC haha).

I wish Team17 all the best with ABE sales and future projects - really looking forward to anything you do.

Cheers mates!

It's really great to be able to talk to you guys and the Alien Breed community this way. I've just joined the official Steam group and will also make sure to post a comment in the feedback section of the forum once i complete and study the game.

Ok, I’m now joined to the steam group. I was wondering if you guys had a price in mind for this game yet?

I recently picked up a great game called The Scourge Project Ep 1 & 2 for $17.99 we just finished this game over the weekend. Has 4 player Coop and it took us over 9 hours to beat it. That’s a fairly good amount of game play for the dollar.

Thanks guys for all the work being done on the game, really looking forward to getting this on the pc and playing some coop.

On last question, this game will have local lan coop right? No split screen only coop. Split screen is terrible for a pc and should never be an option.

Thanks,

Just downloaded and finished the demo on "elite". Prologue doesn't have the possibility to be hard, since it's clearly designed for players to get used to controls and gameplay, but i can definitely see how this game might be harder later.

This is really great, as i miss oldschool games, like the good arcade games on the Amiga were, which were really visceral and fun. It's beyond cool to see Team 17 trying to go for this kind of gameplay today. It's very fun indeed when done right. And if anyone can make this kind of game play and feel right, it's Team 17.

I was actually pretty surprised (pleasantly) when i discovered that the keyboard+mouse controls were quite usable for playing the game - certainly not an easy thing to pull off. I'll be getting a joypad with sticks however, since i think it suits this game better.

The game runs really good on my PC which is quite old (s939 athlon64 x2 and 2GB ddr400 ram. Only the graphics card is newer - bought a second-hand 8800GT a few months ago for beer money) at 1920x1080 and all effects "on". The game seems to use tons of shaders and very nice lighting, but at no point does it slow down. Also, at that resolution no real aliasing is visible, so that's nice. Consistent and relatively high framerate is very important for a game like this, so I'm glad it's this way. Team 17 games have always felt quite polished to me. Back in the Amiga days and now.

I really like how aliens are quite nimble, facehuggers are really freaking fast and I don't feel the game is being easy on me the way most today's games are -too easy, not challenging and ultimately not visceral and fun at all. To me, it's fun to have to try and pass a level or an enemy or a situation. I remember fondly the old days where you had your shot at the game, maybe a few "lives" and had to restart (with no possibility of saving) when you were killed. Playing perfectly, overcoming challenging enemies and situations, cumulative effect of game on your ammo/health/lives, having to consistenly play good and be "on you toes" - that was so good and fun. I noticed most of younger game players tend to get irritated when they can't just storm through a game. That's such a shame, they're missing out on so much. Alien breed: impact does seem to promise to have a bit of that old-school vibe going on, which is really gutsy and cool from Team 17 :). If the game will be really punishing at the "elite" difficulty, i believe it will add quite a bit to its replay value.

The only thing i hope game won't have later is such big an amount of cut-scenes. Especially the kind of those that show new aliens or scenes like the one with that fellow soldier and a "boss" that kills him and at the very end when the boss runs at me. It took me out of the game a bit. The ones that show outside of the spaceship are nice and improve ambiance and context - those i liked.

So, I'll most definitely preorder this game. I hope we'll build a good community around this game and have lots of fun.

Cheers!

Usually I don't do this, it's a ridiculous internet concept to sign up for a forum only to moan and gripe .. but from what I've just found out; I feel it is is my obligation to do so!

First and foremost, I am absolutely disgusted about Team 17's treatment of those loyal fans who purchased Alien Breed on the X360, only to now find out that they were nothing but beta testers! CHARGED beta testers at that! What am I talking about? I'm talking about "Alien Breed Impact" - the upcoming revamp of a revamp for the PC and PSN. When I first heard about Impact, I was happy that a new AB title was coming (even though it's not Episode 2, which we have all waited patiently for and have had no news about whatsoever) -- only to then find out that it's not a "new" title at all! It's a goddamn UPDATE to a title we've already paid for! When I saw Impact on Steam, I almost bought it.. until I realised that I already had! I'd bought the unfinished garbage product six months prior!

http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/55031/Improved-Alien-Breed-Evolution-Coming-Soon-To-Steam

Ahead of the release of Alien Breed Evolution on the Xbox 360 last December, Team 17 confirmed that the game would be released on the PC through Steam at a later date. That time now nears, but thankfully Team 17 has decided to revamp the title's features and gameplay after some less-than-positive-feedback from console gamers:

The difficult decision was taken to delay the release of Episode 2 in order to make some crucial improvements in accordance with the mixed feedback and, in addition to this, the team decided to relaunch Episode 1 with similar changes made.

"Great!" I thought. "Team 17 are awesome, as always! Now we get the real version of the game! I wonder when the patch will come out on the 360?" Until I kept reading;

Now called Alien Breed Impact, the game is set to be re-released on Steam and PlayStation Network complete with a couple of changes specifically addressing the criticisms of the specialist press. Largest among these is the re-introduction of vending machines to the series. Last seen in 1994’s Alien Breed Tower Assault, they once allowed you to trade collected credits for new weapons but will now do something slightly different.

Say WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???? Hold on a cotton pickin' minute! You're saying all this good stuff, which is nothing more than an update to a game I've already paid for, isn't actually an update but a completely new SALE? And it's not even coming to the platform it originated on!?!

Yeah, Evolution was a little rough around the edges - but to do THIS is just absolutely sickening. You release a game not even 7 months ago on the 360, charge us money for it, then you - after feedback - revamp the title, add new features and polish it up a little, then sell it AGAIN as a completely new one! That's not even the worst of all.. no, the worst of all is that you do all this only to sell the game on OTHER platforms instead!!! No patch, no update, no loyalty to your fans or customers who PAID for the, obviously half finished, 360 title! What do we get? What do we, who bought your game in the first place, get? SWEET F.A, THAT'S WHAT!

You've treated those that bought "Evolution" as nothing more than beta testers for your final product, a product you're not even selling on the original platform! Yeah yeah, you're incorporating these "changes" into Episode 2 (if that ever sees the light of day :rolleyes:) but what about Episode 1? What about the game we've already paid for, but are now being told we have to pay AGAIN for the proper version on a completely different platform? I'm sorry, but no. I know you don't care about one lost customer, and I've no doubt your legions of adoring fans will jump down my throat about this thread, but I don't care. You made us pay for Evolution, you're now revamping it and making us pay again - but I, for one, refuse to.

Sucker me once, shame on you. Sucker me twice, shame on me. Right? Well not THIS gamer. You've suckered me once and that's once too many.

Yours angrily;

an EX fan of Team 17.
