I'm sure it's been asked and I know there's a search button and everything but I'm not sure if I would believe it without confirmation. Will Worms:Reloaded have a ranking system?

Edit: AND will there be sound bank compression so that like people can hear other peoples custom sound banks, another thing that I always wished WA had. I haven't been to this forum in a while........so excited :D

I personally think they wouldn't do that.
People will make all sorts of offensive sounds.

It was the popular thing back in like 2005, for W:A.

Read the other threads and you will see that a ranking system is being promised for Worms Reloaded :). No idea how it ll look like though...

It was very unlikely T17 wouldn't integrate a ranking system though :)

I hope it wont get hacked as in OW2 PSP and W:A

Oh it will get hacked, but will be easier to prevent as they can release game patches without haing to go through some silly certification process and then they can just make the patches required to connect to the server and play online.

What's up with players hacking the rankings? There's no sense since everybody knows their points are hacked (as in OW2 PSP) and everybody thinks they are some a**holes :D

E-wangs. Whoever hacks it first is another form of ranking. ;)

Dont misunderstand....there are lots of Steam games that have hackable ranks and achievements....lets hope Worms reloaded to be a exeption.

Now my hope's really down xD
Rankings are quite useless this like; is it possible for T17 to remove hacked points and ban cheaters from playing ranked at least?

A leaderboard doesn't make the champion. Or at least, the automatic leaderboards. That's the reason we're creating federations and an international official league: to prevent hacked rankings.
And remember a thing: if it is like the previous games, no one can cheat in-game. Exception was Worms 4 Mayhem, where the only cheat officially registered was the overpowered team weapons (the others, like icarus multiplier, is a bug unsolved by Team17 used as a cheat).

yeah but we're talking about ranking-hackers :p
And in OW2 PSP it was possible to hack...

Yeah, I've understood. But I learnt, also from past, that the first in ranking isn't the strongest. Of course, until you play with him... =P

Since a t17 admin, BillT17, are around, I decided to pull this subject to understand better the t17 plans about this subject.
Is t17 happy with the current "leaderboards"?
Do they have another plans for it?

I think the current "leaderboards" is far from pleasing the WR majority players. A system completely blind that is only activity dependent, is very weak.
t17 could encourage the online competitiveness with a much more fair system. For example, activity shouldn't weight more than an average of 2 games per day. A win against a player with more points, should award more points than against a lower ranked player, etc, etc (for example, the ladder from NNN league - kb.sinpiso.com - is commonly accepted for the WA (smart) community that is very well designed).

It's great to play "funners" with friends or with a radom online player, but eventually the "play just for the fun" will tire and a well planned "intra-game-league" or a rank that players could exhibit to others, would raise the motivation to play the game.

So, Billt17, can you give us some words about the sujbect? :)

P.S. yes I know about ESL league but, with all respect, something is missing there.

For what it's worth, I agree that a ladder based ranking system would be better and it's something we will be discussing in detail. I can't promise that we will change Worms Reloaded but it is certainly something we are looking at seriously for the future. Sorry I can't be more specific.
