It's great to have the olde Alien Breed franchise back on our gaming screens! It almost feels like it's 1990 again! Time to dig-out my A500!
However, some of the XBLA community have issues with one one of the game's achievements, namely 'Ain't got time to bleed'. For some reason it is not unlocking despite playing, and completing, the final mission without using any health packs (infact, I never used a single item on that level and still no achievement). Is this achievement glitched or are we interpreting the achievement description incorrectly?

Here's the thread on x360a.org
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196211

Thanks again for a great game & can't wait for Episode 2!
- Jonah (Tasteful Mr) Ship.

EDIT: Maybe this should've gone into the SUPPORT/TECHNICAL forum! Mods; can you please move this thread for me! Ta! ^_^

Hi TastefulMrShip,

I saw your post on the Xbox 360 achievements thread and noticed that you'd also posted in our forums. Thanks for taking the time to make us aware of the problem you've had.

After receiving reports of the issue we've undertaken some investigations at this end and unfortunately there is indeed a problem with the awarding of this achievement. We are currently looking to get a patch out for this issue with highest priority.

In the meantime, if you have any more problems please feel free to swing by and make us aware of them. I'm really sorry this slipped past QA and hope it's not dampened your fun with the game too much.

Woody @ Teamsters.

Edit: Also, thanks for the feedback on the game itself. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. :)

Thanks for your reply, Woodbar!

According to one of the XBLA gamers, he has unlocked this achievement. Does this mean the achievement isn't as glitched as we first thought and, perhaps, we only need to complete all five levels of the single-player campaign without using any medpacks? (Which isn't too hard on ROOKIE and wouldn't require T17 having to submit a patch to the annoyingly slow M$ certification process) I'm sure the x360a community would be happy to test this hypothesis.
The only thing that puzzles me is that someone else had already played through the game without using medpacks late last week and it didn't work!

Are you in a position to explain the problem with this achievement? (More than anything, it's personal intrigue!) I'd understand perfectly if you aren't.

Thanks again,
- JTMS

(P.S. Merry Christmas to all; T17 and community alike!)

To me "Aint got time to bleed" = recieving no damage at all. A med pack would stop any bleeding too...

Hey MrShip,

Sorry for the late reply, we've been out of the office over christmas break. Hope you had a good one.

Ok, basically the "Ain't got time to bleed..." achievement has been fixed and we are currently testing the update internally. However, before we can release the update it will have to go through Microsoft's certification process so it won't be out immediately.

I'll briefly explain what the problem was. The achievement consists of two conditions, one which tests whether a player has used a health pack and one that tests the level that the player has completed. These conditions are tested at the end of a level and if appropriate the achievement is awarded.

The crux of the issue was that once the health pack toggle had been activated it was never reset, regardless of the level the player was on (a major oversight I know!). This meant that if a player had used a health pack in any previous level and had subsequently saved, they would be unable to gain the achievement.

For those who don't want to wait for the update there is a way to receive the achievement after completing the campaign. The game stores some info in the player's profile and some info in the save data that the game creates. Thankfully the data for this achievement is stored in the save data, so if you load the game without loading your save data, eg. dismissing the device selector at the title screen or deleting the save data (careful), you will be able to play through the final level in free play and gain the achievement. The levels in free play will remain unlocked without loading the save data as this data is stored in the player's profile.

Guys, I just want to issue a huge apology from Team17 for letting this issue slip through to the final product, and also a really big thank you to the community for actively helping us to investigate and fix the issue! :)

(Sorry for my late reply, I've just got back from Chrimbo! ^_^)

Excellent stuff sir, thanks for that! Given the time-frame for the M$ certification process, would we expect it released around February time? Or can you claim it to be a 'game-stopper' and bring it forward?

... or, of course, you can play through levels 1-5 without ever hitting a health-pack. This isn't too impossible on ROOKIE level!

No probs sir, these things happen from time to time!
However, it's good to see the online community helping developers out instead of the usual moaning and complaining you get from most internet gaming sites. I don't think 'kids' (ie gamers of a lesser age or intelligence) understand how much work goes into programming a game these days. They just expect the product to be out yesterday and perfect in every detail! It was so much easier on the Amiga and 8-bit machines, back in the day!

Anyway, thanks again T17 and here's to EPISODE 2!

It's now been almost a year since this glitch was first reported and nothing has happened. I just bought the game and the achievement is still glitched. I suppose you felt it was more important to release new games than to fix the old ones. The way I see it you owe me 20 gamer points. How long will I have to wait?
