That's what next-gen worms should look like.

Or that one with the wolf.
I like that one.
Never played it, but watched it. Pretty.

My WORD that is awesome. I think the best interwebs meme statement to use on this picture would be DO WANT.

Daaang. That would be a great look for a new 2D Worms game.

Did he say it was commissioned by IGN? Are there more of these?

That picture is now officially set as my official desktop background.

Just set it as mine too, looks great as a background :)

Quite frankly, I think you guys are going a little overboard.
It's okay.

Its a lot better than okay. Its got neato textures and great effects, and it just so happens that it looks great as a desktop background, too.

granted, I definitely see the appeal. really does look like a pretty good desktop background, but I can see why shadowman wouldn't like it as well.

To be fair, the only way detailed worms would fit into that pic would be if they looked really realistic, which would just look ugly.exactly. not saying he did a bad job by any means at all, but it's an awkward style of drawing. it looks a bit funky, so I can understand why shadowman wouldn't like it. personally? I do like it, but the worms themselves seem to detract from the overall image.

I've realized the contrast beetween the worms and everything else. They seem a bit off, but this has only last a few seconds, as I as paying more attention to those waves, the ship at the background an the rocks
I'd barely notice if there wasn't any worm in the picture at all

I'd barely notice if there wasn't any worm in the picture at allthat was kinda what I meant :p the worms look off when you DO notice them and they're completely pointless, so most of the time you won't.

just not a very interesting composition for a worms piece.

I'm with the vocal minority here. It's a good landscape, but utterly sucky in terms of being an actual art piece.

Frankly, I didn't think it was amazing either.

I mean, the worms could be better. The majority of their whole head is their eyes.

But I could really imagine a 2.5D worms, that would be awesome

Personally I'm still waiting for a 2ūD worms.

(log(3)/log(2))-D Worms.

Seriously who wouldn't want to play Worms on a Sierpinski Gasket?

For an easier-to-render-with-pixels time, try a Sierpinski Carpet for (log(8)/log(3))-D Worms

... actually, now I want to make a Sierpinski Carpet custom map :p

EDIT: And here it is! (http://wmdb.org/10925)

Wasn't that hard to make. It was basically making seven duplicates of each small "module" (with a few colour alterations), arranging them, merging them together into one bigger module and then repeating that process 6 or so times. Good ol' self-similarity :).

I could probably have found a script to do it for me, but why have shop-bought when you can make it yourself?

Ah, fair enough.

Incidentally, here's a right-angled Sierpinski Gasket to go with it: http://wmdb.org/10934
