According to T17's facebook page an update for Worms iPhone will be coming in the next week or so.

Source: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=64566768063&topic=9791

If everything goes well with testing and the submission process, we expect the update to go live some time next week. We will keep you up to date with the exact timing. However we thought we would let you know now what to expect.

Featured in this update, a collection of improvements including:

• The option to change graphical settings for increased performance in game.
• More responsive camera controls, including the ability to make the camera zoom further in for a closer look at the action.
• The ability to flip the game screen based on the orientation of your device.
• Improved Ninja Rope controls allowing even more death-defying rope stunts.
• The ability to unleash devastating weapons on your enemies from the safety of a parachute.
• Even smarter enemies with shorter thinking times.
• Highly improved back-flip and jump controls, including a new finger swipe method to make sure you never accidentally jump worms into the water again.
• The facility to customise the game even further by creating your own enemy teams.
• Plus, a whole bunch of improvements to touch responsiveness and performance across all devices!

Glad to see the backflip is being improved :)

Very nice to see T17 are beeing that fast on this one!
And all the issues I've heard about seems to have been given attention.
Damn, maybe I do need an I-phone afterall.

If you can't afford an iPhone, you could always make do with an iPod Touch :p

Still, good effort from Team17 on getting this update out quickly. :) Some people will moan that there's no online play in this update, but I'd rather the Teamsters spent a little more time perfecting that and save it for a later update, and fix the irritating bugs first!

Awesome! I knew Team17 wouldn't let us down.

This update does look to fix every issue I've had with the game. I never thought the game was a waste of my money, but if the patch makes it as good as it sounds, I'd gladly pay double!

From facebook (same link as first post):

WORMS for iPhone/Touch update v1.1

Major improvements:

• The option to change graphical settings for increased performance in game.

• More responsive camera controls, including the ability to make the camera zoom further in for a closer look at the action.

• The ability to flip the game screen based on the orientation of your device.

• Improved Ninja Rope controls allowing even more death-defying rope stunts.

• The ability to unleash devastating weapons on your enemies from the safety of a parachute.

• Shorter thinking times of AI players.

• Highly improved back-flip and jump controls, including a new finger swipe method for back-flip to make sure you never accidentally jump worms into the water again.

• The facility to customise the game even further by creating your own enemy teams.

• General performance increases across the board.

• Quick shortcut to zoom out/in with a press of the top left corner.

Other fixes:

• 1st gen devices crashed if left on the pause menu for a couple of minutes.
• Removed game saving/loading dialog message box.
• Upon opening the weapons panel and then closing it with the resume game option, the worm would occasionally jump.
• The pause game button could cause the worm to walk left if held down.
• Non-scrolling text in the AI created team menu.
• Added initial boot screen asking user to hard reset their device. This is to help users get the best experience/performance (due to fragmented iPhone memory problems).
• Various speech-bank issues where a foreign language was being incorrectly used.
• During the hot-seat time of a turn, commentary text such as 'It's a brand new turn!' will appear underneath the darkened screen. The commentary text should appear when the turn has begun.
• Instance where a worm causes damage, but at the end of a turn no damage is taken.
• When viewing the How to Play options in game, the fire button and weapon panel buttons need to be hidden.
• Music incorrectly switching off when 20% power message has appeared.
• When the player quits a game, the in-game music carries on into the front-end. This is incorrect - it should be the generic front-end music playing instead.
• When the Holy HG comes to rest the particle effect obscures the weapon. The particle trial should only really be seen when the weapon is in motion.
• Various localisation errors fixed.
• Says heaths instead of health in how to play text.
• When the player selects a weapon, it would be useful for the commentary panel to display the weapon name for a couple of seconds.
• At present, if the player moves the camera and then aims with the reticule, the camera will re-centre on the worm. Fixed.
• Decompress music upon first launch in order to increase performance on older devices.

2 major updates are planned. The first will be for 3.0 and include bluetooth multiplayer. The second, a little later will have full network play via internet. We will keep you updated of progress.

This update has apparently been submitted to Apple, so should be released shortly

Huzzah! Can't wait for the update to this already fantastic game. People will no doubt whine that bluetooth multiplayer isn't here yet, but I am positive when we do get that feature, it will be well implemented and worth the wait.

Indeed, the update is live here in the USA as well. This is like a whole new game - thanks Team17!

According to their Facebook page, online play is coming in a future update. Unfortunately they also say that a second update is probably a few months off.

No biggy though, by then I'll probably have finished all the challenges and online play will definately bring me back to the game.

Is anyone else having problems with the sound in this latest update? Sometimes when the CPU is playing, there will be random weapons sounds when there shouldn't be.

Like, one of the opposing worms will be moving, and the "transporter beam" sound will go off. Or a rocket will be launched, hits a worm, and the "sheep bahhhh" sound goes off. It's rather random.

I never had this problem with the original release and I did a hard reset on my 3G S before playing.

The sound appears to be really screwy since the update. Every time the enemy charge up a shot I hear the ninja rope, and after every explosion the noise of landmines bouncing around happens.

There is also an excessively long sound bite for dropped supplies of clapping and cheering which seems to continue well into the next players turn.

Oh the plus side the zooming is a lot nicer, the menu's are snappier, loading seems quicker and it seems to recognise where I'm touching more accurately.

According to the T17 facebook page it seems there may be a small update coming to fix the new sound glitch.

Additionally, the next update is underway (3.0 support, 3GS extras, bluetooth multiplayer), update after that will be internet play. No dates for either, but we'll update as we go.

Any chance on some info about those '3GS extras?' :)

Great work on the iPhone app. This is the first Worms game I've been able to spend any time with in a long time, and it's made me remember why I loved the series so much.

As someone who was around for the whole updating WA accident/debacle/war/thingy back then, I just wanted to express my approval of how the Teamsters seem to have handled and seem to want to continue to handle the patching process on this game. Sure it's just a portable version that I haven't even played, but this looks like a step in the right direction as far as getting things done and keeping the players informed is concerned, and as such I felt a positive post was in order. Never let a publisher or a content distributor get in the way of this!

Keep it up, make sure making the fans happy makes you happy too and I have no doubt they'll learn to appreciate it as well... in time. ;)

The sound bug has been fixed, we should be submitting an update today that fixes it all for you... Its one of those random bugs, sometimes it happens, sometimes it will not.. No need to uninstall..

Will let you know when it goes up...

Right now the planned upgrades include shader support (e.g. refractive water as seen in PS3), improved / more particles systems, more sound channels and maybe some other suprises if we get the time..

The update for iPhone Worms (which includes local Bluetooth multiplayer) is currently in QA. Should be out later in the year.

If I remember correctly, I didn't find a way to customize, or make my own weapons styles. am I the only one to notice this feature was missing? I liked it better when I could choose the sudden death, weapon ammo, delays, health, and all that. Could that be implemented, or is it already there, and I just havn't noticed it.

I can't find the option either, guess it hasn't being implemented then.

It would be nice if it would, though.

The update is still with Apple, it seems like they are very busy at this time of the year, at this rate the small update for fixing sounds will only just be out when we decide to put in the bigger update. :)

The first time I played Worms on my iPod touch, I've been a fan ever since. I just want some more weapons added (Such as the Molotov Cocktail and that ox that explodes multiple times, whatever it's called)

If there is any way you can do this in the next update, please do so.

This new version is horrible on Iphone 3g at least. Constant long freezes make the game annoying and ultimately unplayable.

I didn't have a problem on my 3G. Worms is quite a RAM-hungry programme, so maybe try turning your phone off and on again to free up a bit of RAM. Failing that, try switching "low graphics" mode on in the options.

Nice to finally get the update!
Anyone else having troubles with bluetooth though? cant seem to connect to my brothers matches or vice versa, and sometimes old matches show up in the list (game "blah" will show twice if he remakes the match).

Cannot wait for wifi!

This hasn't appeared in my updates list? Searching for the app again shows a price where all other programs show "installed" instead... Don't suppose this is a T17 issue, more of an iPhone thing.

Edit: Never mind, it appeared once i had upgraded to latest iPhone software.

I've posted this in the other thread on bluetooth, but I think it should appear here too:

Apologies with the bluetooth play.. Due to the way our game works and the construction of the actual iPhone, bluetooth play can have issues.

There are ways to increase connectivity tho.. Firstly the iphone is prone to alot of interference, so if u are playing in a heavily congested wifi area then that could cause issues.. E.g. an office full of PCs and wifi stations can cause havok..

Also the iphone uses its one aerial for both bluetooth and wifi, so another thing u can do is turn off wifi mode (via phone options) - we found this helps alot..

With the iphone, wifi is given greator priority over bluetooth, so if the iphone wishes to send / receive over wifi for whatever reason, the bluetooth part just has to wait.. This can unfortunately cause disconnects.

Hope those tips help..

Hey,
Os 4 is out since about a week now, and worms isn't working under it.
I know you guys must be busy with many other things, but at least put a warning on the appstore page or something untill you release a fix.
Thx in advance.

Edit (several days after):
Ok, great then: too buysy to even write a word on the forums I guess? Hope it's the hard work on the update that keep you guys away from your loyal consumers.
